My realtor's contractor was here this morning reviewing everything on the buyer's "wish list" to have taken care of prior to settlement. He didn't give me a total estimate of cost, and when I spoke with my realtor the contractor didn't give him a total cost of estimate either. So my realtor will follow up with him to get that information so that I won't be suffering with "sticker shock" when payment is due. In addition to the home inspection there is a radon test done to determine the level of radiation in the house. My realtor got the test results back on that this morning and the results are higher than allowable - - according to the home inspector's equipment. The only thing is - - when he was packing up his equipment yesterday he stated that he hoped the equipment worked properly because he found the outlet he had plugged his equipment into had "tripped." I told my realtor this and he is going to pursue having another test done at the contractor's expense to verify the results. So we'll see what happens on this. If the results continue to be higher than allowed, then a "remediation" will have to be done to the house - - whatever that is and whatever that costs. So the saga continues. Maybe if the house has a high radiation level - - supposedly - - no one will want to buy it and I then can continue to live here.

Today we went to see Deadpool 2 on the early bird special (6.00 before noon) It was darkly funny. Then we went to lunch at Chili's and used our coupon fro free chips and salsa we got last time for donating to the children's cancer fund.

We stopped off at Walmart to get a cable for Anne's printer to try to get it working wireless again. But even uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers did not help. It won't even see it hard connected. So we completed our Aldi applications and Anne updated our resumes and we will print them out at the library before the job fair. Wish us luck.

Tang has had his supper and shot and is sacked out on the sofa next to Anne as she completes the above mentioned paperwork. He seems well.

It has been busy today getting back to packing and finally organizing the slew of papers for both the sale of this house and the purchase of the condo. Need to do some filing of payment receipts and then the desk should be clear again. Am dealing with some angst about the radon part of the contract. Am now waiting to hear if the buyer will compromise by waiting until after settlement on 6/29 to have the equipment installed instead of my having to put up with the stress of having it installed prior to settlement. Please keep this in your thoughts and prayers for me because this is the only issue that is causing me some royal aggravation and apprehension.

Today we went to lunch and the there was an outdoor flea market and an art show within a few minutes walk of each other just outside downtown. It was OK, but it was just a little too hot to really be enjoyed. I did get to hols a grey tabby kitten that was up for adoption at the city animal shelter booth at the art show though.

Tang has had his supper, shot, food and water etc. He's a little skittish because it was a vacuum (i.e. the Tang eater) night. He's otherwise doing well though.

It's been a quiet day here. I'm really tired today so I haven't been doing any packing, etc.. This week is going to be busy with medical appointments: tomorrow I have an appointment with my regular MD for a general physical, Tuesday I have a regular dental check up, and Friday I need to go to my rheumatologist's office for blood tests only. Wednesday I have a moving contractor coming to give a cost for the move in addition to the contractor coming to do the necessary repairs per the contract. So it's going to be a busy week.

The Aldi job fair was just a kiosk in the parking lot. They took our applications and resumes and said they'd reach out to anyone they wanted to interview within 7 days. There were only 2 other people there, so that could work in our favor.

We took PTO for tonight, so it was a fairly lazy day except for lunch and the weekly shopping. Little Bit keeps coming for the food (presumably) but I've rarely actually seen her. Putting her food out after some rain the other night, I discovered an unexpected passenger on the side of the bowl. Looked like a garden slug - and it looked right at me I pried the little guy off with a stick and now only put the bowl on the porch rather than the dirt.

Tang is also doing well. He's had his supper and shot etc. He was upstairs last I checked. I hope today has been kind to you and that you have a comfortable evening in the loving company of your forever fur angels. Peace and blessings.

So nice that you and Anne were able to enjoy yesterday evening with your precious Tang. I'm wondering how Anne's new shoes are doing to keep her feet comfortable at work. I know so very well when the feet are hurting every place in the body hurts as well. Hope the routine and job at Amazon is becoming a bit easier - - until something better comes along. Thank you for your continued comforting support and encouragement with all the major changes that are happening in my life. My general physical appointment with my regular MD today went well. So that's over with for another year, or more. The next time I need to go is in October for my flu shot and second pneumonia vaccination. So far haven't heard anything from the buyer about the results of the radon test as to if he's going to insist on having equipment installed in the house for the sale to go through. I have already let my realtor know that there will be no new installations to the property as long as I am the owner. Whoever buys the house can do whatever they want to AFTER settlement.

One of the "repairs" the buyer has on the contingency list is the repair or replacement of one of the mouldings around the big basement door. Before I had gutter guards installed some rain splashed in around the door frame causing some minor water discoloration about an inch on the moulding at the floor. He wanted to have the entire moulding replaced. The contractor doing the repairs looked at it and said the wood is sound - - no signs of rotting. So I went online to research restoring wood from water damage and found that apple cider vinegar can restore the oils in the wood to significantly reduce the appearance of water damage. This morning before I went to my MD appointment I stopped by Kroger to get some apple cider vinegar. When I got home I dabbed some vinegar onto the wood and indeed it does look better. I don't want to paint because the new owner may want to stain the wood instead - - so hopefully the apple cider vinegar will fulfill the mandate. I guess I'll find out.

Tang is doing well though, so I guess that's something. Anne says the shoes are helping, but I suspect she's just being nice.

Wow!!! I can imagine how upset you are about not getting paid for your vacation time at ADP. I wish there was something you could do to appeal this decision. I'm glad you're no longer working there, my friend, even though your job at Amazon isn't easy.

It's been busy here today with my dental appointment and doing some errands. Had to wait 45 minutes beyond my appointment just to get called back to the exam room. My appointments with my dentist never are on time for some reason. Went to the pharmacy afterward and discovered that at some point in time a driver had crashed through the front doors, so the temporary entrance is a single door like what is in a house. After I had my lunch I "crashed" for about an hour - - am looking forward to an early evening - - I am really tired.

It has been a busy day here sorting and packing, along with having the contractor here doing the repairs that the home inspector indicated needed to be done for the buyer. The contractor who did the second radon test was here about a half hour ago to collect the equipment and he told me the results which were significantly better than the results from the first test that was obviously not done correctly. Tomorrow I have a few errands to do early in the morning before my volunteer arrives, so it looks like it will be another busy day.

Have been busy here today packing. A couple of gentlemen from the community group came this morning to pick up the king size bed in the upstairs master bedroom and a small table and 2 chairs I had in the upstairs kitchen area. I truly don't think there is anything more I can donate. With the exception of two dining tables all the remaining tables are of the folding variety. I'm keeping the double bed for the guest bedroom, which can be sized down to a twin bed if space should require me doing that. Still have lots and lots of things to do before June 27. I received a call from the moving contractor and the quote is less than what I paid to move here 22 years ago, and I have a confirmed date of June 27. So at least that commitment is taken care of. Monday morning, 6/11, a contractor will be here to do the termite, water, and septic tank inspections, which will complete the required inspections for the sale of the house.

Well, it's been 7 days and no calls from Aldi; guess they aren't interested. But we both updated and reactivated our indeed.com accounts and have started posting on the same things. We are determined to be out of there before Prime week in mid July.

Today was also kind of low key. I got a haircut, then we held some puppies at a pit bull rescue event in front of Kroger. Then went for some lunch and then went to what turned out to be a pretty small festival at a local high school. They did have a make shift petting zoo though.

There is no doubt in my mind that your precious Tang loves you, my friend, for you and only you are his Forever Dad - - the one who took him to your heart when no one else would - - the one who takes care of him and sees that he has medical care when he needs it. The contractor who did the termite, water, and septic system inspection was here earlier than expected this morning, which was okay. No termites, septic system is fine, and the results of the water test will be back in a couple of days. Not expecting anything untoward with the water test especially since I have an excellent water conditioning system. I'll let you know what the official results are when I get them. Needed to do a couple of errands after the inspector left. After getting home worked on getting paperwork organized and did a bit of packing. Need to go to my rheumatologist's office tomorrow for blood tests only and do errands along the way. Then home to do more packing.

Was able to get my blood tests done at the rheumatologist’s office this morning as well as getting some errands done along the way. Since I’ve been back here have been working on paperwork for the purchase of the senior condo. Was FINALLY able to speak directly with the mortgage processing rep to go over the items that are outstanding from an email she sent me last week. I sent her some information via email and hope it is legible for her as the information did not print clearly from her printer when I faxed it to her last week. So we’ll see what happens sending the information in PDF format via secure email. She is also supposed to get income verification that I provided to the mortgage rep I met with on Wednesday, 5/30. So hopefully this will take care of everything. This has not been an enjoyable experience at all.

Sorry your precious Tang was not being nice to you yesterday. I know how upsetting it is when you see a precious companion playing "favorites". Sounds like you and your precious boy need some private bonding time together. Hang in there, my friend, I'm sure your precious Tang still loves you even though right now you may be wondering. And please know you can personally email me if you need or want to share something you don't feel comfortable sharing in the forum.

I'm wondering how you're doing with the invasion of the ant people in your kitchen. I think I mentioned to you that I had gotten a couple of the high frequency plug in rodent repellents when I had a mouse setting up homesteading here in the basement living quarters a few weeks ago. Well it turns out that they also help to repel ants because I haven't noticed any ants over the past week or so making a nuisance of themselves in the basement kitchen area. And one of the benefits of it is that it's safe around you, your precious prince Tang, and Anne. So I thought I would mention that for whatever it might be worth to you.

Have been busy packing today and making some progress with the "annoying" stuff like cleaners and polishes. I read the booklet the mover contractor left with me and apparently they will not accept any aerosol products or alcohol - - don't know if that's the drinking kind of alcohol or antiseptic alcohol. So I had to go back through the box I had packed all the cleaning products in to remove the aerosol cans, and just to be on the safe side I removed the rubbing alcohol bottle from the box with all the bathroom stuff in it and will be moving those things myself. It's just a small box so it's no big deal. They also will not move any open top boxes so I had to find a box in my collection of moving boxes from 22 years ago that was big enough to pack all my paper waste baskets and cleaning buckets in that I could close and seal. I want the movers to move just about everything so that I don't have a car full of stuff to unload at the Bedford condo. Also brought in from the garage the boxes that my Dell computer and Canon and HP printers came in, and they're still in really good shape.

My phone interview went very well and I have a face to face at the facility next Thursday at 1:00. Anne's apparently did not. The same woman I talked to was doing her's while going to pick up her kids. She said the call dropped and she had to call her back. She was also told that due to not having notes or a recorded call she could not schedule a face to face with her but would call back about that tomorrow. Why not later today? I'm guessing that's an excuse. So, even if I were to get an offer I obviously could not take it. Back to square 1 and the agony of my horrible decision.

Tang at least has been trying to get some attention from me and I was able to coax him into eating at least some of his supper. He seems to be doing OK.

I am sooo very sorry that your and Anne's job with Amazon has apparently turned into a horrendous nightmare. I know how much you both were looking forward to getting out of the call center. Still it is a paycheck to keep you, your precious Tang, and Anne from living on the street until you and Anne can find something better suited to your skills and preferences. Have been busy today with the never ending packing. I'm glad I started this process back in March or else I'd really be up the royal creek trying to do it all now. Have most of the paper trash cans and water buckets packed and started packing the non-perishable foods. After the home inspector came through a couple of weeks ago I began noticing a slow leak in the cabinet under the basement kitchen sink. So I have a plumber coming tomorrow to sort that out for me. As far as I know there wasn't a leak BEFORE the idiot inspector turned on both the upstairs and downstairs dishwasher - - both of which had not been used for years. So I'm wondering if a water valve has loosened because of the water pressure through the pipes at the time of the inspection. With all the inspections going on I haven't had a moment's peace long enough to arrange this until this morning. I will know what the problem is tomorrow and hoping it's a simple fix. Fortunately this plumber doesn't charge extra for weekend work, and it's a plumber I have used previously so I know their work can be trusted.

The packing process continues here today. Finally found a box that would just squeaky fit my IBM selectric typewriter. Yep - - I still have it because it still comes in handy from time to time to fill in forms that I can't fill in on the computer, type labels that don't feed through the printers, etc.. Still have some things to pack that I've taken upstairs but the quantity of things to pack is dwindling. Am waiting on the plumber to arrive. The appointment was scheduled for "mid-day" - - so I guess that can mean anything between now and perhaps 5 or 6 p.m.. Am going to take a break and start fixing some lunch.

Not much happening around here today. Have all the essential chores done for the morning and am getting caught up on emails. The plumber arrived around 3:15 p.m. yesterday. There was a slow leak from the new sprayer nozzle, so he disconnected the nozzle and wrapped some better tape around the part that screws into the hose and tightened the nozzle. When he left he was confident that the leaking was stopped. He only charged me for the service call and mileage which was less than $70. So it's good news that it wasn't anything major like a leaking or corroded pipe.

I'm so sorry that you had to get a new refill on your precious Tang's insulin. I know how expensive that is just from the short time my beloved Noah was on insulin when he was first diagnosed with diabetes. I'm hoping that if you and Anne are able to get a new job with Mortenson Dental that you'll be able to get a better shift time assignment. The cost of the insulin isn't bad. Walmart has an agreement with Lily to make Humulin N under their label of Novolin which is only 24.88.

Last night I got to do something different at work. I did pack up on the mezzanine which is single items from totes that come right to you. Bigger, more personal stations with no "line chatter" or people stepping all over you. Too bad it was only cross training for Prime which we have no intention of being around for.

I'm so glad the insulin is not extraordinarily expensive for you. Now that I am on many medications I am appalled at how expensive medications have become, and will continue to be. Have been busy today contacting utility providers in Bedford to get them in my name on 6/27. Worked on financials this morning getting payments scheduled online for July's bills. Tried to make a payment for my medical supplement plan on the provider's website but it was having technical difficulties. Good think I had set up alternate payment through my bank's online bill pay, so I was able to go ahead and schedule the payment through my bank. After I got my financial log updated with May's and June's payments I was able to resume the packing process. Have been making decent progress on that today, for which I am thankful. Am taking a break now to fix my lunch and rest a bit before doing some more packing later on.

Anne's interview was a little dicey from what she told me. They had some big meeting with a lot people and it was chaotic. They could find an empty conference room and had to use a huddle room. And it was only one of the ladies from my panel and the lady that did the phone interview (she wasn't in mine) Anne got the feeling that lady didn't like her either. But she brought up an IT job for which I have many more years experience - and that was never brought up in my interview, But then, that lady wasn't in mine So, who knows (sigh) I do know that the phone lady never emailed me back about additional questions I had.

Only have two more folding tables to take care of, packing my computer and Canon printer, my TV and Roku box, the daily stuff, the frozen foods and refrigerated things, the clothes I have set aside to wear for doing errands on Monday and Tuesday, 6/25 and 6/26, gathering the trash and putting the things that will need to be laundered once in the Bedford condo - - and whatever other sundry things that pop up that need to be done. Needless to say I will probably be packing in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, 6/27, in order to be ready for the movers when they arrive between 9:30 and 10 a.m.. I have started packing the car with things that I want to transport which I know the movers will not want to be bothered with. I know I will need to include the frozen foods and refrigerated items in my car as according to the brochure I have from the movers it explicitly states the movers will not load them onto the van. Am taking a break now and will soon begin starting to get my lunch cooking.

We had a frightening one. Late last night when the rain stopped and cooled things down, we decided to open the front door to look at the stars. Tang decided that was a good time to sneak out too And sneak he did as neither of us knew he was gone until we went to give him his shot this morning. Anne had a bunch of flyers printed up an posted, but the manager's BF apparently lives here and called and she made her take them down She also posted on a local lost pet page on FB. Fortunately it was about that time she found him hiding under a tree by another set of town houses. He seems no worse for wear, but isn't bolting to the door anymore. I think it's time to get a baby gates for the doors.

Oh, Tracy - - I can sooooo imagine how truly upsetting your precious Tang's disappearance was for you and Anne. I'm so sorry the management made Anne remove the posters. I am thrilled that Anne found him hiding under some trees at the next set of town houses. He, too, must have been terrified and ever so thankful for being found by his Forever Friend and Forever Dad. Sounds like your "amazing Tang" still has some Houdini tricks in his repertoire.

Have been busy doing some packing today and checking out how to update my Net10 home phone to the Bedford address. Have printed off the "chat" with a Net10 rep for reference. Also checked the instructions on how to move my Canon MF 4150 printer. It's been a quiet Sunday. This is the last Sunday I will have here in the beautiful woodsy environment I have enjoyed for 22 years.

Tracy, I can soooo understand your feeling devastated when you discovered your precious Tang had disappeared. I can imagine him wanting to be near you now - - I imagine he was frightened, too. I am soooo glad he is back home with you and Anne safe and sound.

It's been hectic here today. Went for the final walk through at the Bedford condo this morning. I don't know how it's all going to work out but will learn to "make do." I have been busy trying to play "catch up" with packing and will be doing that for most of the evening. There are so many "last minute" things piling up. Am still waiting to get the final figure for my closing costs for the Bedford condo. I have no idea how all of this is going to work out. A bit of nice news is that while I was at the Bedford condo I saw several cats roaming around the property - - one of them being a beautiful chocolate seal point Siamese. And my neighbor has a Yellow Lab. So I will have some four-footed friends to see. Need to get busy again with packing.

Little Bit still comes by for her food, but we never really see her. Tang is still doing well and following me just about everywhere - when he's not following Anne.

I'm so glad your precious Tang is doing well since his "excursion." I can imagine he is "sticking like glue" to you and Anne now. I know you're glad for that as it shows that he would definitely prefer being with you than in the "big wide world" outside.

I don't think the cats I saw yesterday are feral - - they are too well taken care of for that. But yes, they were out and about on their own - - as so many kitty "owners" think their feline companions need to be able to roam. The chocolate Seal Point Siamese cat came right up to me to greet me as I was leaving the condo - - rubbed against me as if she (I think) had known me all her life. What a welcoming committee!!!

Have been doing a marathon of packing today. The counters upstairs are actually clearing off, and I have been able to figure out how to pack some awkward sized things that had been eluding me over the past couple of weeks. Still so much to do in preparation for the movers tomorrow. The buyer of the house didn't give me any "grace period" to move. My lunch is in the final stages cooking on the stove. After I have my lunch it will be back to packing well into the wee hours of tomorrow morning, as the next major items I need to pack are my computer and Canon printer.

I will probably not be back in the forum until sometime on Friday or over the weekend as I will not have internet service tomorrow and not until late Thursday evening. So I will look forward to getting caught up on your news when I'm back.
