I really don't. I know it goes against every fundamental law of nature, circle of life etc but I just really don't like it. Animals that I love and care for shouldn't die. For no other reason than "I don't want them to"
I miss Twinks and you miss your animals as well. Screw the circle of life, i just want our pets back!! -------------------- I LOVE YOU TWINKIE!

Samara, one of the things I have always been grateful for , is the Lesson of the circle of life our pets teach us. Like it or not. Here it comes. The Big Lesson. If you don't open your heart and learn from it, you loose twice! Embrace what this pain can teach us. About love, about loss, about what it means to be human and continue despite our loss and suffering. It can teach us to love others more. And if that happened, it would be a real tribute to your lost pet. Think about it, and best wishes, michaelT

Samara,
While I agree, on the one hand, with Michael's comments, on another level, I also hear your pain, frustration and anger....and also agree with that! Know that it's okay to feel these ways, too, and that anger, no matter what it's towards, is one of the most common reactions/feelings in grief, and that it's okay to vent about it in a safe place like this. Why shouldn't we rage against physical death?! To my mind, it's NOT a 'natural' part of what Life and being alive really is....it's an abomination AGAINST Life, it's its OPPOSITE....even if it's not really real and our real essences never die. To us, for now at least, that's all it looks like on the surface, so no wonder we get our backs up against the whole concept. So the other thing you could consider doing with these thoughts is use them to start questioning things as they seem and as we've been 'taught'. That's ALSO a good way to 'grow your soul'. -------------------- "I dropped a tear in the ocean. The day you find it is the day I will stop missing you." I feel the same anger. It's a horrible set-up. I am willing to take the pain and guilt, but my baby shouldn't pay a price! He is innocent. He didn't deserve it and he was only seven. His sister and adopted brother have had to suffer too. Whatever set this cycle of life and death in motion should be made to suffer the same pain, for eternity.

Death is a part of life. It's so sad that cats and dogs don't live as long as their human counterparts, and though it's in the back of our minds that they will die someday we never pay attention to that until the time of death is almost at hand.
It is only physical death though; the body is a shell for the soul. The soul is the most important part and survives anything. It goes on forever. You may mourn the physical part of your pet for days, weeks, months, sometimes even years. But know, please, that even though they're physically gone, the love and the bond remain for all time. Please remember that. It may make many of you feel a lot better about your pet's death. It did so much for me. They're still with you! That's a little-known fact but it is so true! Lisa ![]() |

Furkidlit's Mom's posting reminded me of the poem - "Do not go gentle into that Good-night. Old age should burn and rave and close of day. Rage, rage against the dying of the light..."
Anyway, I too feel that our pets shouldn't die. It seems so unfair that they get such short lives, and that we must say good-bye before we are in any way ready. But, of course, that is how it is and there is nothing we can do about. The only way to avoid the pain is to never have a furbaby, not a very inviting alternative. I know that had I not adopted Daisy, she would have still lived and died - likely in less happy cir%%stances, and she and I would have never gotten to enjoy the loving bond we had together - a bond that even death can not end.
