There is a 67 year old woman (my mom) who lost her dog of 12 years last night in a tragic accident. My family was on a trip to see one of my brothers. Tazi jumped out of the car when they stopped (they stopped on account of a bee that was bothering my sister, the driver). They did not know he was gone until many miles later. They rushed back and found him dead on the side of the road... everyone is feeling pretty devastated, my sister and my mother especially. When Mom got Tazi, he was a funny little stray puppy, who looked like an old dog at first sight. Half terrier and half dauschun (I know I spelled that wrong) Tazi lived in a car with my mother who was homeless for two years...he was her little angel, her small protector and her companion through some very hard times. I honestly don't know if she would have made it through those years without him. My mother suffers from a mental illness. She is better now, but I can't help but worry about her living alone, suffering through this grief.
My mother does not know how to use the internet, and she doesn't have a computer...But you are all so wonderfully supportive...If you feel inspired, please write her through snail mail: Martha Schneider
1050 3rd St. apt. 205 E
Santa Rosa Ca 95404
She is a very loving person, and she would love to get kind condolences in her mail-box.
No pressure at all...Thankyou for being so wonderful!

You are both very kind! I felt funny about putting out that request, but she is in so much anguish, I wished she could connect to you all like I did when Bear-cat passed...it helped me beyond words those first few days. I feel that her pain is worse...I am having a harder time with Tazi's death than with Bear-cat. Maybe it is the way he died...He was barely recognizable when they found him, and it was so completely unexpected and jolting. So final. I was able to be with Bear-cat when he crossed over, able to hold him and cry to him, able to say a proper goodbye. Tazi's death is so much more tragic, and there seems to be a lot of guilt involved. Everyone feels that they could have done something different...It's that feeling "If only I could go back and make a small change he would be alive" Those thoughts can be torturous. My mother did not sleep the first night at all. She kept getting scared that she would wake up in the morning and forget that he was gone...so not sleeping was her way of protecting herself against reliving the pain and shock. Anyway, thankyou for listening to my sadness and for your support. If you do write, please know that his name was spelled: TTAAZZII...I just find it redundant to always type it that way. I will pray for you!

Amphia,
I will also send your mother a condolence. Let her know that people are thinking of her and her loss.
I'll try to get it mailed today.
