Hi Madi...Love the pics that Dottie and Jan put up....there is something about cats expressions that really say it all.
...I decided to put a tree at our week-end house...It kinda looks like a "Charlie Brown Tree"...lol. I have to do artificial because I'm severly allergic to pine and this poor little tree was the display and looked very sad...it was super cheap too...But we got it all fixed up and I'm glad I put it up. I didn't however put up our huge tree at our main house...don't think I'm going to...Being at that house makes me sad...I like being here better, wish it was driving distance to work.
Hugs to you and hope you are well,

Lovely sunny day here. Good for a walk in the woods I think. Might get to see some doggie friends for more cuddles too. They will start calling me 'that mad dog stalking woman' ha, around here. Good job most of them know me.
Hope you have a good day too.

Hi Sonya, glad you gave that poor little tree a home. I've gone artificial too, was going to grab one from the forest, but I discovered one in my daughter's shed today and thought I'd just use that. It's up now, so I have made the effort and Jan has her tree up too and none of us wanted to have one this year and we have, so hopefully we will be glad we made the effort. Hope you and Jan are having a better day today. And of course my love to Dottie and everyone.

Hi Madi, I'm so sorry for your loss. Ulriich is such a kewl name for a gorgeous kitty.
I think you'll probably experience going in, and out of grief for a while. I think it's different for everyone.
It helps me to have Bue's pic as my screen saver on my 42" monitor, so it's almost like he is still here physically.
Some people can't handle reminders, it's just too painful for them. I think if you take a little of what everyone tells you, and add what you need to the mix, you should be ok. It won't be easy, but you'll get through it, and we are all here to help.
It never ceases to amaze me, there's so much knowledge, and wisdom on this site. This is the best place to be to find genuine loving, and caring individuals.
Talk to you soon
BTW, here's something that may put a smile on your face, again.

Thank you so much for your kind words Bue's mom. My son gave Ulriich his name. He remembered a story about a man who had nine lives and his name was Ulriich, so hence Ulriich got his name. The poor gorgeous boy used his nine lives up very quickly though, he was still a young healthy cat when he died. I read Bue's story and it is so sad, cancer is a curse of a disease and an awful way to lose a loved one. As you say, this is a great forum, because the people here are the only ones who know how you feel and I love them all.
I watched the videos, aren't cats amusing creatures to watch? Of course I loved Christian, that story is truely amazing. Was that Bue in the other two videos? it looked like him, such a beautiful looking cat, so fluffy and cuddly. Hugs and love to you.

QUOTE (madi @ Nov 4 2009, 05:42 PM)

Hi everyone, just joined your group for a bit of support and hopefully to support others. I lost my darling 3 yr old boy, a gorgeous black and white cat called Ulriich 6 months ago. He was killed on the road in the early hours of the morning. I was awake and heard him cry out when he has hit. It was just the second time I hadn't been able to find him to put him inside. We live on a farm and there is hardly any traffic at night, but the one lousy car that did go past hit him and it's just not fair. I was grief stricken, sought help and felt a bit better for a while, but now I am relapsing into depression again and I don't know why. Can anyone give me any advice?

My deepest sympathies in the loss of your dear Ulrich. May you find much comfort in the joy he brought you and all the happy memories. Remember the good times with him. I find that helps. And all the love he had from you.

Great pics of Ulriich! Look at this pic Madi...His name was Boots, he was also killed by a car...it was probably about 3 years ago...he was the last cat we had. He was around 7 when he passed away. Radar loved him...Boots liked Radar but he does look abit p.o.'ed in this pic. lol

He was marked alittle similiar to Ulriich but with long hair. He even has the white paws (boots..lol)

Oh Sonya, how sad that your Boots was lost the same way as my Ulriich was. I know how you must have felt and you would know how devastated I was too. Do you have one of those dreaded main roads running past your place as well? It's an awful way to lose them. Boots had a lovely face just like Ulriich and his markings are so similar. Zelda, the cat I am looking after for my grand daughter has the long fur and she always comes in with grass seeds and hay hanging off her, she looks so cute, she is all black. That is a lovely photo of Radar and Boots, my little dog Bonnie gets along well with cats, she likes to play with them and sniff their butts. How old is Radar? He is a really nice looking dog. See you on face book.

You've really out done yourself this time Dottie, I just love, love love what you have done with Ulriich's photos. I can't believe that video either, that cat could be Ulriich, that is exactly what Ulriich was like, spent more time upside down than upright. He used to roll around and stretch and was so relaxed just like that cat. Every time I walked past him, no matter where he was laying, he would roll over and I would bury my face in his tummy and kiss and blurt on him. I hope I find another cat similar to him one day. Hugs to you Dottie

HI Madi...our road is in the country..it is blacktop though and parallels a main road 2 miles away..people always use our road to avoid the police and speed like crazy...my house sits back almost 1/2 mile from my road and I had never seen boots down by the road before until that day we found him. He was a strickly outside cat but we were still very attached to him but since he didn't come in the house like Ulriich we never did develope a relationship like you and Ulriich had...I feel guilty about that..he really was a great cat..good mouser too. Boots had a brother who also got hit by a car..we lived at a different place at that time but basically same country scenerio. Trouble was his name he got hit about 2 years after we had him. Trouble had the same markings as boots but had short hair so he really looked like Ulriich. I don't have any digital pics of him though only hardcopies...one day I will have to scan some in my computer. After Boots got killed I said no more outside cats....so until Doug allows me to keep one in the house I will not get another.
Radar is about 9-10. We rescued him when he was around a yr or two old. He is such a love bug...that pic of him with Boots is at least 3 years old..now Radar is almost totally grey..all around his eyes..he looks older than Brutus. We think he is beagle/lab/spaniel..but are totally guessing..he will howl like a beagle so thats why we think beagle and he has lab ears...and the white and few speckles maybe come from a springer or maybe even a jack russell..he does have some terrier qualities at times..just your basic loveable mutt! He is really active for his age so we are hoping he will be around for a while..I can't go through another anytime soon that's for sure.
Hugs to you and Ulriich!

Click to view attachmentHi Madi and Sonya
It's so dreadful what happened to your darling kitty's. Bloomin roads and mad drivers. We live on a main road and my daughter Becci always wanted a kitten. I said no way because I'd seen so many mad drivers along our road and just knew what would happen. We always had our dogs and I just said 'no'. Felt bad as she soo wanted one.
When she met Cameron (husband now) and they moved in together with Maxi ( our grandson) he bought them both a darling persian kitty each. They were adorable. Camerons family had always had persian kitties. The breeder was highly recommended, but when I first saw the kitties I was worried. They didn't seem as active as they should be. The picture was taken in the first week of getting them. Everyone (including me) fell in love with them though. How could they refuse them, just thought they needed lots of TLC.
A few weeks after getting them little Charlie's stomach swelled up and he just wasn't eating. We took him to the vets and they thought it was FIP (wet). She did tests which confirmed the condition. He died a few weeks later in my daughters arms. She was devastated. Heartbroken, as was little Max and the whole of the family.
Bailey seemed to be ok so we were hopeful that he had escaped it. A few months later ,he started showing the same symptoms. Becci was expecting her second baby at this time and was having problems. The breeder said she would take Bailey and look after him, as she was more experienced with kitties, so we had a heartbreaking journey of about 50 miles to take him back. She assured us she would keep in touch, which she did for about 3 months, then nothing. I still try to contact her, but I fear darling Bailey had FIP and is at Rainbow bridge with his brother. She never answers our calls or e-mails.
That happened 2 years ago. Cameron had also bought another of the kitty brothers(Gucci) for his sister and thank goodness he is doing well and thriving. We told max, that Bailey had gone back to his kitty mummy for her to take care of him. He still says, Bailey has been gone a long time with his mummy. Bless him. we just say he needs to be with his Kitty mum now.
So that is my sad Kitty story. I went to the vet each time Becci took Charlie and Bailey. They were such sweethearts. Such darling babies who had such short lives, bless them. I wanted to share as I know you will understand.
Your kitties had lives that they would have loved. Running freely outside and mousing and doing what kitties love to do.
Just so sad that their lives were cut so short. They knew they were loved tho' and had the best of both worlds. Little Charlie and Bailey were indoor cats, yet only lived a few short months.
Hope you like the Pic of our darling Charlie and Bailey.
Sorry to have to tell such a sad tale, but I still haven't gotten over it. Everyone on here will understand and I needed so much to share.

Hi, Madi. I'm so pleased you like the photograph of Ulriich that I enhanced. From everything you've said about him on your thread and several other threads, that is abolutely, exactly the way I see his precious personality. What I cannot believe is that I lucked into finding that video showing how you've described your Angel Fur Kid so perfectly. Again, I gotta say: Like Albert Einstein, I also do not believe in coincidences. That film was there for you and the kitty looks practically identical Ulriich, too. Seriously, it could be his twin. Amazing and wonderful! Also, how wonderful that it is of comfort to you, Dear One.
Oh, after Ulriich did his Yoga then ... Just see for yourself.
Now ain't that just like Ulriich? He loves horses just like his Mommy. Awww!

Oh Jan, that is the saddest thing, what an awful thing to have happened, they didn't even get a chance to experience life, so sad. They were so cute, it just breaks my heart. Poor Becci and Max, I can't stand to see children upset and it's sad when they have to learn the meaning of loss at such a young age. I generally don't have much time for breeders, although I presume there are some caring ones amongst them. The woman who took Baily is so heartless and cruel as to not let you know either way what happened to him. The two kittens did look like they were not as robust as they should have been and I'm sure the condition of those kittens would have been obvious to the breeder when she sold them. She is in the same category as that "thing" can't call them a person, who took Dottie's Alex as far as I'm concerned. Take care dear Jan.

Thanks Mad, Sonya and friends
Yes that was so heartbreaking with the darling kitties. The breeder brought them to their home for them and by the time I got there she had left. Maxi and Becci and Cam were obviously already besotted with the darling babies. You couldn't help it. They were absolutely adorable, and looked so vulnerable, bless them. They had visited the breeders home and thought all was fine as she so clearly loved her kitties, however Becci chose a little black and white one at that visit, only to be told a few days after the visit that sadly he had not survived, she'd already got a name ready for him, for when they brought them home, Figaro. So that was so sad too and really we should have heard warning bells ringing. She'd also chosen, Charlie for Maxi, and Gucci for Cams sister. Bailey replaced little lost Figaro.
I just hoped that maybe they all just needed lots of love and good food and TLC and they would all bounce back to health. The only one that seemed in good health(and thankfully still is) , was Gucci.
Unfortunately and so very sadly that wasn't the case. We often wonder if dear Bailey is still alive. I e-mailed her(the breeder) again last week, but still no reply.
Thankyou for you concern and love.

Thanks for thinking of me girls, I had an OK Christmas day but feel a bit flat today. My son has just packed Ulriich's baby teeth that he had collected and kept from when he lost them as a kitten and he is taking them back interstate with him. He was going to take Ulriich's feed bucket with him, but decided to leave it because Zelda still eats out of it. He doesn't say too much, but I feel sad for him because I know that cat was a big part of his life. he just adored him. My son made a big fuss of Zelda and really took to her, I'm glad about that.
I hope you are all coping with your losses and Christmas time, it's so difficult. I hope the start of a new year brings some peace to us, I can't stand the feeling of missing Ulriich too much longer. Hugs to all.

I had a dreadful day today, it was so upsetting. My niece's partner killed her beautiful little Jack Russell dog Molly last night. He did it for spite and it makes me feel physically sick thinking about it. My niece had him removed from her home by the police this morning, but he has taken her little Fox Terrier with him and we are so worried for his safety. Two months ago, her kitten was found in her yard and they presumed he was probably hit by a car, but now, I believe the partner more than likely hurt him too. the kitten did survive with a lot of vet care though, thank goodness. I am so angry, if it were me, I would not stop with the police, i would bring the RSPCA in on this, because they would prosecute him to max for this.

My niece was in Sydney visiting her son at the time of her darling dog's murder. The partner couldn't get hold of my niece because she was at the theatre with her son at the time, so he rang her sister and told her what he had done and she absolutely lost it and became hysterical, as did her 10yr old son who heard it all. My niece flew back home and together with her brother, father and the police went to the house and had him ejected from her home. It took hours to get him out and he wouldn't leave without the other dog. My niece was trying to pull it from his arms but he wouldn't let her have him. The police let him take it because he wouldn't leave otherwise. He will be using the dog as a bargaining tool no doubt, to try and wangle his way back into her life and going by past experiences with him, she has not heard the last of him I am sure of that.
Little Molly usually flew everywhere with my niece, I wish she hadn't trusted that monster with her precious baby this time.
He does have a mental disorder, not sure what his diagnosis is though. The words he uttered were "I had to do it" now that makes my blood run cold, because I had a nephew who was murdered in 2005 and his killer said the exact same words "I had to do it" Lady Wolf may have an idea of what type of hideous mental disorder causes a person to do and say such things.
The RSPCA (our countries animal protection centre) if contacted would have been much harsher on this criminal than the police were and I am pestering her to bring them in on this. They would crucify him. He would also have a criminal record if he were to be prosecuted by them.
Personally, if that dog were mine, he would never have left the house with it, I would have killed him first, police or no police presence.
The police were appalled at what they saw when they entered the house, so why would they let such a person take that other dog? Even if he was the legal owner, which he wasn't, you wouldn't think they would let him take it after what he had done to Molly.
Sonya, you are right, he would be just as capable of killing my niece as he was of killing her dog, so she is flying back to stay with her son for a while and she has already changed her phone numbers and door locks. I feel so sick when I look at the photos of Molly and Syd, the little Fox Terrier, they had a lovely home with my beautiful niece before she took that monster into her life. Hugs to all of you with your unending support.
