Get out your hankies, folks. I remember seeing this when Johnny Carson was still running on TV, and I wept then, and it makes me weep now, but it is so, SO good! This is the actor James Stewart reciting a poem about his dog named Beau...

So touching....I was completely chocked up at the end... They touch us so completely in life that without them a little piece of our "whole" is missing!
I pray that all people in this world realize just how wonderful our furry friends are and that the love they give is priceless. the world is a better place with kind and loving people like you and all animal-lovers out there... Linda |

Wow ladywolf that is so beautiful! It took me back in time and made me remember my Buster all over again and of course tears were on my face right at the end, thanks very much, Jorge.
I miss you Buster, always, Daddy Jorge :wub ![]() |

Thanks Margi
That was wonderful and so touching really makes you think of our own angels. Really touches deep down in our own hearts. Its just so sad that god only gave them to us for such a short time. He greated the most loving creatures on this earth to have them live such short lives. If people could love and touch the soul like an animal imagine the world we would live in. I have read more love stories of human and pet here then any two people in love anywhere. Agian Margi thanks for posting the poem. Makes me really miss my angels. Hugs Anna |

Glad you liked it, everyone. I think it was one of the greatest pieces ever on TV. While I was showing it to a friend this morning, my neighbor's dog walked into my house to be petted, so that was perfect.
I find it so touching that someone as "important" as Jimmy Stewart would choose to use some of his public time on the Carson show to read a poem about his dog. And what a poem! Yes, if all humans could love all animals that much...well, we'd have a much better world! Hugs--Margi and Spiritwolf |

Margi yes it was a great poem. And to see Jimmy Stewart tear up was so touching. When he talked about the tennis ball I thought of my Labs smokey and lady instantly. The one picture I posted just the other day my Smokey has his tennis ball in his mouth. I have lots of pictures of them two with thier balls in thier mouth. They loved to run after that tennis ball so much my husband would hit it with a bat for over an hour they would take turns one would sit while the other ran after it. It got to the point my husband bought a tennis racket to hit it. In thier stocking every year they each had thier container of fresh new ones. Thanks again for posting it here. Hope you are doing ok.

I just watched the video, and I too do remember seeing him read it on Johnny Carson. At the time I hadn't gone thru a pet loss, and I still thought it was a touching poem. The actor Mickey Rourke, in an interview with Barbara Walters last year, talked about some tough, suicidal times he had been thru, and talked about his deceased dog (he wore a pendant of the dog's picture around his neck), and how having his dog saved his life. Kota helped keep me alive all these years. The pain of missing her is like have a succession of mini heart attacks, seems like it'll never end.

Dear Margi and Spiritwolf
Thanks for posting that video. It is so beautiful and touching and sums up all that we are feeling about our precious fur babies. Yes, needed the tissues again. But oh so worth watching... Hugs Jan and my Angels and Pixie xx |
