Hes Been Gone One Year Today, Poem for Bono Options

Today is Bono's 1-year anniversary. I've wrote a little poem for him. Just thought I'd share.

Strange that its been a year
Since last I saw you, son
Those melting eyes, that wagging tail
My gorgeous number one

Such huge events this year has brought
I’ve been blessed with such joy
A playful cat, a friendly pup
A lovely newborn boy

But when I see your lovely face
In photograph and frame
God help me for there’s times I wish
That things had stayed the same

They say ‘embrace your blessings
Instead of sobbing over times gone by’
But it was such an incredible love
Between you and I

Late at night I toss and turn
As dreams revise your end
My baby’s cries disturb my sleep
I waken again, without my friend

Oh how I long to cuddle you
Especially as I feel so sad
My other dogs don’t let me hold them
In the way that you once had

Times haven’t always been so smooth
And I miss your wise brown eyes
‘Take it easy’ you’d say ‘for I am here’
‘Ours is a love which never dies’

Strange how such a tiny dog
Can leave such an empty space
Not even a gorgeous baby son
Can take your vacant place

I was a better person
When I had you here to hold
To kiss, to hug, to fill my arms
My lovely pot of gold

Just to let you know
That I think of you each day
Please don’t think that time had meant
Your memories have gone away

I think of you as I walk my dogs
As I cuddle my baby boy
And when I’m down and feeling low
It’s your face which brings me joy

One day I’ll be an old lady
With a longing for your chestnut hair
Your friendly waggling gait
Your incredible brown eyed stare

To Bono, my beloved
Till my time on Earth is done
I love you forever
My incredible number one

I just want you to know I'm thinking of you today. The one year is always just so hard. You wrote a beautiful tribute to your baby. Bono was so gorgeous, that is a wonderful picture of him and the cat!

I really understand where you are right now, next tuesday, the 23 will be a year since my boy Moose passed. Things change so much in a year, like you said in your poem, but we miss him so much. I guess we always will.

that beautiful poem was all heart, a lovely tribute to your Bono. wjat a lovable looking guy how you must miss him, hugs to you Gillian, you are very wise to know that he is with you still but I know we miss their weight and their feel and their eyes and their sighs....sigh....Take care, live fully, life is but an instant into eternity.

Your poem really touched me, it basically explains my feelings about Misty......this year has been great, our daughter is beautiful and becoming more and more fun every day, and Magic, our new cat, is becoming more and more important in our faimily as the months go on.......

But, there is still an empty spot in my heart for my first child, a boy named Misty.....

Thank you for responding. I lit a candle yesterday evening at 8.15pm, which is when my lovely boy slipped away, and placed it next to his urn, which sits in my family room.

I will be thinking of you all on your babies anniversaries. I'll light the candle for Moose on the 23rd too, and of course Misty, if you can let me know his date. And of couse you may use my poem.

Oh Gillian!
What a beautiful poem for such a beautiful boy. Oh how I could relate to that sentiment that there are times that you had wished that things remained the same. It's still fresh for me, and not much has changed in my life compared to the last year of yours but I can still understand so well. Duffy was there during all of my breakups with horrible boyfriends and I was so unhappy with that aspect of my life during his life. Now that I just got happily married, I have lost Duffy. Isn't life the strangest, cruelest thing? In any case, I will light a candle for your sweet, little, beautiful Bono. My heart goes out to you during this anniversary.

that was such a beautiful poem. i know i will feel just like that in a year looking back on my kitty acorn. he passed more than a month ago. your poem made me cry. its so hard to go on with that friend no longer there. its something that is so hard to get use to if we ever can. bono was so cute. im sure he's still by your side.
