Saturday I started my first day volunteering for the rescue org that does the adoptions through Petsmart store.
I'll be going in every saturday morning to clean the cages and let the kitties out a couple at a time for some exercise before they open for adoptions. There was one little guy who really tugged at my heart. He was six months old, and of course, a long haired black kitty. He was so sweet and gorgeous, and a little terror too! ![]() I have a little over a month left for the move. If I find one I truly want before then, I might be able to adopt then get him fostered until I move so that I wouldn't miss out but I didn't want to do that with this little boy. I don't think I should jump on the first one I liked, especially since he looked so much like Alley, which was likely part of his appeal. But it IS a start, and in the meantime, I'll be able to help the kitties in a small way. There were 4 precious ones adopted when I was there ![]() -------------------- |

Alley's mama, I love what you're doing!!!I have often wanted to do volunteer work at an animal shelter since I lost my cats. I may do this next fall- right now it's impossible for me to do so. I think with your understanding of what cats are all about, the shelter is really lucky to have you.(Thank God for folks like you!)Through this, you will find your buddy and that relationship will grow into a beautiful story for you and your treasure.

Uh oh! I can see what's coming. My wife and I also volunteer for a rescue/adoption group and I'm sitting here looking at 6 of our 8 cats we adopted from the group when they weren't adopted by anyone!
![]() Seriously, I know you will greatly enjoy helping out the cats there and will get a lot of fulfillment knowing you are saving lives and finding forever homes for them. The world needs more people like you who care. Also, I'm sure you will find that special one there who will tug on your heartstrings enough to take them home yourself. Just be careful not to do what we did and fill your house with furkids. Bless you for what you are doing. ![]() -------------------- Daddy Cat left this world at the age of 17. I am excited about going back. It was great just to be able to be there with them. I've already been told I can only bring home one after we move, lol.

Alleys Mama
I think this is a wonderful thing you're doing! Since you can't have a cat for a while (it's soooo soon now) you can still get a "cat fix" AND help cats too. Love -------------------- Lori
