After losing my precious shih tzu Nicky 3 days after Christmas, it's happening again. His heart gave out after a 3rd case of heart failure, he had been on heart meds for 20 months, (for those of you that don't know his story.

My Dad's dog Ziggy has the same "parents" as Nicky but he is 10 months younger. My Dad and his 2 shih tzu's have lived with us for a year now. Ziggy went to the hospital 3 days after we lost Nicky because of a bad disc in his back, they also started him on the heart meds because he was starting Nicky's problems. This morning he was breathing very noisily so we took him to MI State and they started all the procedures. They just called and said he's not responding and they don't think he'll make it. I can't believe this, it's just too soon to lose another dog in this family. I am just sick. I don't have the bond with Ziggy that I did with Nicky, but it's still hard to take. He could still turn around, but they don't think he will. Nicky's litter mate sister, Molly, died from heart failure 2 1/2 weeks before Nick. That's 3 of them in less than 6 weeks. I don't know if I can handle all this. Plus I feel horrible for my Dad who's 89 years old and his 7 year old shih tzu is just lost. If anyone would just say a short prayer so that he can pull out of this at least for a while. The first time Nicky went into failure, he responded quickly and did well for a year. It's just too soon. Mary

Mary,

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for little Ziggy. I know this must be bringing back all the memories for you about Nicky too. My heart goes out to you and your family in this difficult time.

Oh Mary

This is so not fair. You are in my heart and in my prayers. Please let your dad know I'm thinking of him too. Poor little Ziggy.

Thinking of you and your dad and Ziggy

I hope that your sweet little Ziggy will be all right. It's hard to go through this at all, but to go through it again so soon after another recently is mind-numbing and tears at the heart. Please let us know how things go and I truly hope and pray that things turn out well for you.
