Goodbye Horace,
You were the best cat in the whole world, with the biggest personality and purrs that kept me company for 13.5 years. We had a long battle with kidney failure, and you were a brave kitty taking all those fluids for a year and half. You left us on 1/12/07, and the tears won't stop. Twelve hours after you passed, the lamp you used to sit under to keep warm, died with you. We checked it out, and the lamp had a short. It's light went out with yours. Your brother is here, confused and sad, like the rest of us. But his diabetes has gone into remission. My heart aches for you, Horace. The emptiness is unbearable. Thank you for your years of comfort and your little paw that pulled me to your cage, asking me to adopt you. - Horace's mom |

Horace's mom
I'm so sorry you lost your Horace. He sounds like a great kitty. It takes a while for the tears to stop. It hasn't been that long for you really. I think the lamp did go with him, that's nice. He can have it with him to keep him warm where he is now. Be gentle with yourself, and take care of you and Horace's brother, he's having a hard time too. Thank you for your kind words, Moose's mom.
I spent 2 days lurking and reading this sight following his passing. It has been the very best thing for me, and I've appreciated your posts in other threads as well. I like what you said about his lamp. Made me feel much better. ![]() |

Thank you for sharing Horace with us. He sounds like a very brave, adorable furkid. Though you miss him terribly he isn't in discomfort any more. Calming vibes for you and his brother.

Horace's Mom,I want to say how sorry I am about the passing of your boy.My kitty Sox had kidney failure too, that's why we had to put him to sleep back in Oct. I know the pain you are going thur,I've been there and I still have bad days even though it was 3 months ago that I lost him.We love them so and when they are gone it leaves a terrible emptiness in our hearts.I will be thinking of you and sending you warm and postive thoughts.Take care.Sincerely,Renee (Sox's mom)

I'm so sorry to hear about Horace. He sounds like a wonderful kitty. My kitty Alley was put to sleep on December 9th and I miss her terribly. I would love to hear more about your Horace or see pictures of him if you feel up to sharing them.

Horace's Mom,
I'm so sorry, too, that you had to say "bye for now" to your wonderful boy. Horace lived for about the same amount of time that my Sabin did (13) and I remember clearly how that felt like far too short a time to share our lives together. I still feel that way. He also left his sister Nissa behind, who, like Horace, slowly developed kidney failure. She left us 5 months ago today, at 19 and 7 months. In the end, not even the fluids or anything else will work anymore, so we do what we have to and give them our blessings and permission to carry on into spirit. But they never really leave our sides, even if we can't see them. I think Horace's lamp going out was a sign for you from Horace that he'd transitioned 'successfully' and is now acting as your Guardian Angel, and letting you know that he's still there for you, and his brother. Watch his brother....I'll bet Horace will come through him at times. Sabin did this for me with his sister, on many ocassions. Perhaps he will pull you to him with 'his' paw one day, and you will know he's still there with both of you. If it happens, it still won't take away that awful emptiness, but it will soothe you some all the same. And let his brother help you, and you help him, with your shared sorrow. Take care and if you're up to it (whenever), we'd love to see some pics of your baby, so that we can 'know' him better. -------------------- "I dropped a tear in the ocean.
