Hey Everyone!
I found a dog that my Vizsla girl Penny could love in place of her lost brother Copper. Yesterday we went to yet another animal shelter and told them our story and what kind of dog we needed for Penny because of her issues. An even tempermented, energenic dog who would be able to keep up with her on her 2 hour swim/runs. One of their suggestions was "Marley over in the corner". So we went back by the dogs and there, over in the corner, was Marley! The indoor section of his kennel (where we were) didn't have a top on it. He had his paws and top up his head on the top edge of the kennel wall -- looked like Killroy. Our eyes locked and my husband & I were in love!  Then we got closer and I said, "Oh my God, he's a...... GOLDEN RETRIEVER!!!!!" Ironically, this was only hours after I said on this very forum that I said I didn't want to deal with the fur. Ummmmmm...... My husband doesn't mind brushing dogs. We took him outside to play with him and couldn't help but love him more. Penny was in the car and we introduced them. She liked him! By the time we got back in, they had almost finished processing our application -- they must have liked us. (If anyone needs tips on how to put in a good application, please ask!) Within 4 hours of meeting Marley, he was home! Marley is a purebred Golden Retriever who is about 1 year old. He looks like he's still got just a little bit of growing left to do. He's got that "golden smile" and is very sweet. Smart too! Big pile of love! This morning I woke up to a big, hairy, slobberly, smiling face in my face. Seemed like he was saying, "Good Morning Mom! Don't forget, Goldens slobber more than vizslas too!" Then Penny who was sleeping next to me licked the slobber off and gave him a dirty look. WHY was such a great dog left at an animal shelter where there was a chance of him being put down if he couldn't find a home? Because his "owners" were getting a divorce and neither one wanted him!!! Marley can never "replace" Copper, no dog could. But today there is a little bit of joy for everyone. Especially for Marley who didn't have to sleep in the dog pound last night.

Woo Hoo! Oh Marley is so handsome! Wow what a beautiful dog. I'm so happy for all of you! Penny and Marley are going to have so much fun together! I'm so glad you all get some joy now. Enjoy Lori -------------------- Lori
For some of my Bridge kids. Butch 1974-1996 Alex 1981-1996 Moose 1996-2006 Mommy loves and misses you guys. She remember's all of you, even though it's too many to name each one. I can't wait to see you again. |

Oh I am so happy for you and especially for Marley. He is one lucky dog and I'm sure he knows it. Congratulations on the new addition to your family.

Thanks Guys!
I can wait to get a good pic of the two of them together to share. She loves to run with him but really hates it when he sniffs her butt. It's great though. She acting like a vizsla! Jealous jealous jealous! Has to put her head between her and anyone he's sniffing -- including cats! But so far, happy and somewhat "normal" again. V -------------------- |

Thanks for all the great compliments everyone.
Yep that's my guy! Always has to be in the same room as one of us too.Penny, in classic vizsla style, now has to one up him every chance she can get. She is now greeting me at the door with my slippers!! I thought that was some cheezey trick they taught dogs for TV and she figured it out herself! Well that certainly beats biting me so bad that I need 20 st*itches in my elbow.  And they both take up all the covers........

V-Angel, Marley is beautiful and it's rel good to hear that Penny loves hima nd is doing well now. Love ther picture of the 2 of them - looks like Marley has been licking his fur!!
