2 weeks ago coming home from a camping trip our daughter and her family were in behind us in a large suv towing a 30' trailer. they had both the dogs with them. they had a very bad accident . both vehicles rolled over by god's good grace my daughter, her husband & my grandchildren are fine, but our beloved gizmo is gone..it is so hard without her. everyday !! we had her for 7 yrs. . she was a pound puppy and we rescued her 2 days before she was going to be destroyed. such a good dog! i am so thankful nothing happened to the kids, but i am so devastated at the same time. i just cry all day.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Im sure you and your family gave Gizmo a wonderful and loving home and that she gave you nothing but happiness and love in return. Know that we understand what you are going through and that everyone here shares in your grief and sadness of lost loved one.

I'm so sorry for your loss!!
![]() I'm thankful, as you are, that the rest of the family survived, but so sorry about Gizzy. I'm glad you found this site. You are among those who truly understand. When I lost my Little Girl, I practically lived on this site. Although I know your heart is breaking, try and remember that Gizzy is experiencing only bliss because her soul is in the realm where there's no time/space barrier. Her spirit is still with you. And when it's your time to pass on, you'll be fully reunited. Keeping you and your family in my prayers, Kathy -------------------- Compassion for all animals. www.earthlings.com

Hi Gizmo's Mom,
I want you to know that it DOES get easier. I lost Dixie to a speeding SUV. Even worse, I watched it happen. This happened alomst 2 months ago. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of Dixie and cry and just want her back so bad. I want nothing more than another chance to do that day over, but I can't. It is SO very painful to lose your beloved pet this way. I still struggle with guilt DAILY. ![]() But what I want you to know is that the agony, the horrendous pain you are going thru DOES lift. We will never stop missing and wanting our pets. I wish we NEVER had to die (animals and people alike). Death is so painful....it hurts ALOT. But please believe me....the crushing pain you are feeling will subside. I never thought I would recover from the misery of the first few weeks.... I thought the initial pain would last forever. It hurt sooo bad that I thought I would just die from the pain. But it has gotten better. Please hang in there.... And please visit here as much as possible...it has been a Godsend to me. This board has helped me to survive. Without it, no one else understood what I felt. Take care, Dana |

I'm sorry that you too lost your pet. I hope things get better and you remember all the good times and not just this one bad time. Things will get better and I am hoping for the same as I am experiencing a loss as well. The first one of my life and it's tough.
God bless. Buddy's dad |

Thanx again to all of you. I keep thinking that if we had taken her with us in our car this never would have happened. Funny thing is I was all ready to do just that, but I thought she'd be more comfortable and have more room in my daughters suv. I feel like I failed her. We were always so careful of her as we live on avery busy street and don't have a fence. My husband checked her run all the time to make sure it was safe. Every one who knew us knew never to open a door unless Giz was safe. We've had other dogs that we loved and miss, but it seems that we just formed an extra bond with Giz. I can't seem to focus on anything when I'm home. Work does help though and so do you all. My granddaughter has stared "pennies for pets" to help the pets in the hurricane area. I donated what I could in memory of my baby.

Hello Gizmos Mum
So glad you found this site - I found it 2 months ago when I lost my wee pal to a car too and it has been a great great help to me - speaking to people who understand exactly what you;re going through. Maybe it feels like noone else could have experienced the pain youhave, the nightmares, the tears but please rest assured, we all do , here. I still cry every day for my baby and I miss him so very very terribly but he crushing, panicky pain has dulled a little now - and i dont feel as if I'm going off my head anymore. ou will go over it in your head - 'If only.....' and 'Why didn't I....' - thats natural. Death of anybody, human or pet is an awul experience to go through but we all learn something about ourselves. I for one, now trul;y cherish every moment I can spend with my new hairy pals ( w e ahve adopted a rescue collie, who needs us - and a pup to give him confidence) . I would give anything to have Sgith back with us but plase bleive us, you will recover. Never forget, but you will smile again. Thinkingo fyou Fiona |
