A new beginng of sorts...my Mother's beautiful BK. now beginning his 10th life at twenty-three. Seems he has decided to stay with me awhile and not follow Mother to the bridge just yet. After all my losses of this year I am most grateful for this grace.

That's wonderful news! I know he probably doesn't have too long left, but I am so glad he decided to stay with you a while. Give him lots of chin scratches from me smile.gif

Thanks for the kind words about my sweet Beeker, he has some arthritis in his pelvis, and he's getting sub-q fluids twice a week, but his Vets are astoundd by his overall good health and body condition. Still i know that 23 is roughly the equivalent of 160 in human terms...and even though it means sleeping on Mother's couch as I did for the 10 mths preceding her death, and putting off some travelling I would like to do... I treasure every moment with him.

BK has always eaten some canned food and some dry food...by his own choice...whatever brand and flavor Mother thought she could afford, and he seemed to like. AS a consequence of eating the dry food he still has most of his teeth ( very important to longevity ). Since Mother has been gone and partly because of the pet food crisis, he gets some people tuna in water ( he doesn't like it in oil), prescription Multi- stage renal diet ( dry) and a stew I make for him out of beef , chicken and frozen vegetables.

I found a toy he willing to play with today...I guess I was thinking he was past that. He got a workout that was good for his arthritis...brought tears of joy to my eyes. I hope the pictures came out. biggrin.gif

Oops! I forgot Activa yogurt, he prefers blueberry.

Hi,
I just saw your "new" kitty, I know he's not new but how wonderful for both of you, I am glad he is healthy, our tabby named Frank lived to 23 too, he really did pretty well right up to the end, cats are amazing, he was my husbands cat and before we lived together, he ate Whiskas, Pounce and rarely saw the vet, so we don't know why he made it so long, of course I put him on a regular vet checks and Science Diet for Seniors...and eventually sub q fluids too....but he also loved peas and cantalope too, so who knows...just good genes I guess. Enjoy him. Tory, Frank's and Hrudey's Momma

23! Wow! I get so nervous now that Buckwheat & Spooky are getting up there -- 17 & 12 -- but Beeker here reminds me that I've got a ways to go!

I lost my old girl Topsy last May, she was 22 and 4 months.
She was well almost to the end and she only ever ate Whiskas canned food and a few biscuits plus some chicken when we had one. She had all her teeth too so I guess it in the genes, thats her on the left of my sig taken on her 21st birthday.
