In April, rescued Panya from someone on Craigslist who could no longer keep her because she was moving. If someone didn't want her, she was just going to release her into the wild.

I adopted her and her cage mate Mocha. Panya became a free range rat. She did not live in the confines of a cage and wandered the apartment freely. For the most part she would stay out of trouble and not destroy things, except the random article of clothing I carelessly left on the floor.

It did not take to long for her to bond to me and she was never far away. She loved to cuddle and would sit on your shoulder while watching TV and be content for hours. When she wanted your attention, she would climb up your leg and make her way up to your shoulder where she'd sit and want to be petted. She always knew when it was time for dinner and would attempt to steal your food if you let her. When it was time for sleep, she'd climb up onto the bed and rest on the pillow if she wasn't already there.

She passed away December 6th from a long battle of heart disease. It has been a rough 10 days and sometimes I still forget she is not here. I'll wake up at night thinking she is still laying on my pillow, or I will think I feel her snuggling up against me.

I loved that rat so much. Funny how such a small creature can leave such a large imprint on our hearts. I'll always miss her.

Hi, Rakuun, please permit to offer you my sincerest sympathies in the physical loss of your beloved Mocha. Losing two companions so close together intensifies the grief. Each of our companions has their own special uniquie place in our hearts because our individual relationships with each of our companions during their earthly journey are uniquely special. I hope it brings some measure of comfort to you to know that your beloved Panya and Mocha are now restored to their former youthfulness in the company of the angels, and both of their sweet Living Spirits are continuing to keep you company as you continue your earthly journey.

Rakuun, thank you so much for sharing both your beloved Panya and Mocha with us. It is important that you know you are not alone in your grief adjustment journey. Each of us here do understand the deep sorrow you are feeling, and we are here for you for as long and as often as you need us. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, Rakuun, and please let us know how you're doing.

Peace and blessings,
moon_beam

The most blessed way I have of knowing God's comforting love and grace is to look into the eyes and heart of God's creatures' sweet angelic face.

This has not been a very good month for me. Last night another one of my older male rats named Bat had a stroke. He became paralyzed and couldn't move much. He died peacefully in my arms around 4:30 this morning. I'll miss him and his little prancing that he always did when he wanted a treat.
