It's been quite a while since I have posted. We have had another incredibly hard year. The past month though, things are going very well. Almost afraid to be happy but what the heck. We deserve it after two years of horrible deaths, loss of business, etc.
Next Thursday, the 28th, will be 2 years since we lost our precious Nickels. I have never grieved over a fur baby like this before but I Thank God he shared Nickels with us for 13 years. As some of you remember last year, we rescued a 3 week old kitty, Frankee that was dumped and left for dead. This was a half hour after our best friend Frank told us he had 3 months to live. Hence the name Frankee. Frankee is doing quite well. Since he was so sick when we found him, his growth is a little stunted. He just turned a year old last friday and he's about the size of a 6 month old tabby which means he'll stay a "kitten" for the rest of his life. He's happy and healthy but not a cuddler. He's his own man and loves picking on his adopted MaMa cat "Awassi" that is 14 and aches from arthritis. We also have a 15 year old Calico that still, after a year, wants nothing to do with Frankee. So last Friday I was looking at kittens on the internet. I found a kitten down in Oklahoma City and filled out an application. The lady called today and we were overwhelmingly approved with a great review from our Vet. So next Tuesday, not tomorrow, we go pick up Jasper. He is about 12 weeks old and is half siamese. Frankee will finally have a playmate and little brother! We are very excited and he couldn't have come along at a better time with Nickels 2 year passing coming up. I finally got a new camera and am having problems with my photo program so I hope this doesn't need to be resized. I'll also try to post a picture of Frankee that I took today. I've missed everyone here and glad to be posting again.

Nickels was almost all white when he was a kitten too. Some siamese get darker with age so I'm thinking Jasper will too.
It's been two years since I've had a kitty jump up in my lap. Little Jasper just jumped up in my lap and is snoozing now. I'll never take this for granted ever again. He even taps me when he wants to be picked up like Nickels used to. I must have looked at over 1000 kittens on PetFinder.com before I chose Jasper and it was worth every moment of my time. We paid a $70.00 adoption fee to the Oklahoma Humane Society through Pets Mart. This includes a 4 lb. bag of kitten formula Science Diet. They give you a custom folder with the kitties name on it including all medical records. They test for FELEUK/FIV. Also included are 2 of the 3 FVRCP and FELEUK boosters. They neuter or spay, deworm, and treat with Frontline for fleas and ticks. They include the name of the vet that does all the work. Also included in the folder is a DVD on Cat Care that is made by Animal Planet. Several printouts and pamphlets are also included. A very impressive package for $70.00. We also met Jaspers Foster Mom and two other people that I have been speaking with over the course of the week. We also met Jaspers sister. She looks just like Frankee only with white paws and a white bib. Buck held her and she is quite the little pistol. Nothing like Jasper. They also go over everything before you sign the contract and I was told that if I decided Jasper wasn't working out, I could return him within the week. I told the gal "I wouldn't sit by the phone waiting for that phone call!" She laughed and said that's the response they love. I'm very impressed with the Oklahoma Humane Societies group that operates out of Pets Mart. Very caring dedicated animal lovers! ![]() -------------------- Nickels a.k.a Pickels

QUOTE When I saw Jons photos of Iggy, I LOVED the white tips on his front feet. Jasper has white tips on his front feet!! His back legs are white like Iggys too. Jasper is just precious. Congratulations! Waiting for a new hire is kind of like a first date! The anticipation was killing me as The Day approached! Let me warn you about white-footed Siamese outcrosses. Nico, our first cat when we were married was one, but from a sealpoint parent. And I know a Cat Lady who has rescued quite a few. You are in for a wild time and a very special cat, if Jasper follows the trends we have seen. They seem to incorporate the robust health and playful friendly attitude of the (heh) Felis Vulgarus with the intellegence and elegance of the Siamese. Nico had a vocabuary that responded to 26 different words..One thing that annoyed me was that my wife trained her... "Nico, bite Jon". And she would hunt me and give me a nip. She could jump up to the wall switch and turn off the lights...Unfortunately she often did it without being asked. She would fetch like a dog. She knew all the usual commands, like "Down", "dinner", "Bad Cat", "Good Girl", "Nico, Come", "Nico, Bed", etc. She lived to be 18, but we lost her to FPL. It was 35 years ago but we never forgot her. When we visited her in the Animal Hospital she would go to the effort of raising her head, and purred, knowing that everything would be allright. She was surely older than that..we rescued her from a divorce situation. She lived with a Hippie Artist (This WAS the Sixties, remember) and ate what he ate (And the way she acted we always wondered what exactly she was given for "catnip"..). She loved potato chips and spaghetti and had formed bad dietary habits. Yes, she also recognized the word "Pig!" when she got caught stealing food. She used to ride in the hippy's MGB, with her claws dug into the top of the passenger seat, posed like The Sphinx. I hope Jasper turns out like her! If so, you will have the experience of a lifetime and one you will never forget...Heehee. I will try to scan some old pictures of her...she was so special! Jasper is beautiful and brings back old memories. -------------------- Miles, my friend and Cat-Wife. 3-11-2008

What a gorgeous kitten!!!! Good for you and I LOVE the names of your cats. So lovely! How lucky are you!
So now you have 4 cats? I have 3! lol. Sebastian is still indoors after 4 weeks, but the time is coming for him to start going outside. He gets his second set of vaccinations next week and I'm having him microchipped and then letting him out. -------------------- My Beloved Bono: This Void is Immeasurable
