Hes Been Gone One Year Today, Poem for Bono Options

Today is Bono's 1-year anniversary. I've wrote a little poem for him. Just thought I'd share.

Strange that its been a year
Since last I saw you, son
Those melting eyes, that wagging tail
My gorgeous number one

Such huge events this year has brought
I’ve been blessed with such joy
A playful cat, a friendly pup
A lovely newborn boy

But when I see your lovely face
In photograph and frame
God help me for there’s times I wish
That things had stayed the same

They say ‘embrace your blessings
Instead of sobbing over times gone by’
But it was such an incredible love
Between you and I

Late at night I toss and turn
As dreams revise your end
My baby’s cries disturb my sleep
I waken again, without my friend

Oh how I long to cuddle you
Especially as I feel so sad
My other dogs don’t let me hold them
In the way that you once had

Times haven’t always been so smooth
And I miss your wise brown eyes
‘Take it easy’ you’d say ‘for I am here’
‘Ours is a love which never dies’

Strange how such a tiny dog
Can leave such an empty space
Not even a gorgeous baby son
Can take your vacant place

I was a better person
When I had you here to hold
To kiss, to hug, to fill my arms
My lovely pot of gold

Just to let you know
That I think of you each day
Please don’t think that time had meant
Your memories have gone away

I think of you as I walk my dogs
As I cuddle my baby boy
And when I’m down and feeling low
It’s your face which brings me joy

One day I’ll be an old lady
With a longing for your chestnut hair
Your friendly waggling gait
Your incredible brown eyed stare

To Bono, my beloved
Till my time on Earth is done
I love you forever
My incredible number one
