I am new to the site and am glad I found it. I lost my dog Buddy 2 weeks ago after 14 years. He was old and I knew the time was drawing near - he died at home with me lying next to him and for that I am grateful. I had called the vet to ask him if he could come put him to sleep but he said no, he'd be in the office in the a.m. I was so distraught that it didn't occur to me to call another vet that I knew to come help me. I am haunted by Buddy's last hours and the thought that he was suffering. I am so sad without him. I miss him so much and expect to see him and he's not there. It's so hard to change your habits after so many years. Some days are better than others and tonight it's not so good. Just when I need him the most to comfort me, he's not here. I am so lonely without him - he was truly my "Buddy".

PLEASE PARDON ALL CAP LETTERS. I'M TYPING WITH ONE HAND AND IT'S EASIER FOR ME. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING ...

DEAREST SAD DOG MOM, I AM TORN AND SO TERRIBLY SORRY THAT YOUR BELOVED FUR KID BUDDY CROSSED OVER TO THE RAINBOW BRIDGE. PLEASE ACCEPT MY MOST SINCERE AND DEEPEST CONDOLENCES.

DEAR ONE, I'M NOT ABLE TO WRITE TOO MUCH AT THIS TIME BECAUSE ... WELL, MY DOGGIE'S NAME IS BUDDY, TOO. HE'S PRETTY MUCH OKAY NOW, HOWEVER HE'S AROUND 10 YEARS OLD AND HIS HEALTH DOES APPEAR TO BE FAILING AT TIMES. I DON'T KNOT HIS EXACT BIRTHDAY BECAUSE I RESCUED HIM FROM NEGLECT AND ABUSE. THE VET SAID AT THAT TIME BUDDY WAS SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR OLD SO HE GAVE HIM THE BIRTHDAY OF JANUARY 1, 2000. STILL, WE'RE NOT SURE. PLEASE FORGIVE ME RAMBLING THROUGH MY TEARS FOR YOU AND YOUR PRECIOUS ANGEL BUDDY DOG. HUGS!!!

STILL, I NEED TO GET SOME COMFORT TO YOU QUICK, FAST AND IN A HURRY! SO, PLEASE SEE THE FOLLOWING TWO POSTS. OF COURSE, NOT ALL WILL APPLY TO YOU AND SWEET BUDDY DOG, BUT YOU WILL FIND ANSWERS, AND I HOPE AND PRAY SOME SMALL COMFORT IN ALL THERE THAT DOES APPLY. HERE ARE THE DIRECT LINKS AND POST NUMBERS ...

I felt just the same way. I lost my kitty 2 weeks ago. And a creature who I needed most to comfort me and to be back in my arms, was of course not able to comfort me as he had passed on.

I am so sorry for your loss. This grief thing can be overwhelming, but you know you can find support here.

Dearest Sad Dog Mom, in case you wake in the wee hours of the morning, I want to greet you and hope to offer some small comfort, I'm worried about you, Dear One. This is practically the most beautiful song of Blessings I've ever heard in my life and I'm a pretty old lady.

I wish so much to bestow each and every one of these Blessings upon you and your Precious Fur Angel Child Buddy. I sure do. It will be very lovely if your PC has the capability to view videos because the images are all so breathtakingly magnificent and soothing as well. God Bless You and Buddy dog Most Abundantly!!!

Lay down your head and I'll sing you a lullaby. Back to the years of Loo-Li,Lai-Ley.
And I'll sing you to sleep and I'll sing you tomorrow.
Bless you with love for the road that you go.

May you sail fair to the far fields of fortune with diamonds and pearls at your head and your feet and may you need never to banish misfortune.
May you find kindness in all that you meet.

May there always be Angels to watch over you. To guard you each step of the way.
To guard you and keep you safe from all harm. Loo-Li,Loo-Li,Lai-Ley.

May you bring love and may you bring happiness. Be loved in return to the end your days. Now fall off to sleep. I'm not meaning to keep you. I'll just sit for a while and sing Loo-Li,Lai-Ley.

May there always be Angels to watch over you.
To guard you each step of the way.
To guard you and keep you safe from all harm.
Loo-Li,Loo-Li,Lai-Ley. Loo-Li,Loo-Li,Lai-Ley.

I Wish You Peace!!!

Always,

So true that we indeed cherish every moment they gave us every day. You have always and forever will carry his heart in your heart. And, Buddy is only a breath away. Sad Dog Mom, a breath away is not far at all to where your precious Angel Bud Bud is at this very moment. Josh Groban says it perfectly. So, please turn up your volume and click in the Heaven filled with brilliant stars and then you will know. Hugs!!!

"To Where You Are"

Who can say for certain maybe you're still here.
I feel you all around me. Your memory's so clear.
Deep in the stillness, I can hear you speak.
You're still an inspiration.
Can it be ...

That you are my Forever Love. And you are watching over me from up above!

Fly me up to where you are beyond the distant star.
I wish upon tonight to see you smile!
If only for a while to know you're there.
A breath away's not far to where you are.

Are you gently sleeping here inside my dream?
And isn't faith believing all power can't be seen.
As my heart holds you just one beat away, I cherish all you gave me everyday!

'Cause you are my Forever Love watching me from up above.
And I believe that Angels breathe and that love will live on and never leave!

Fly me up to where you are, beyond the distant star!
I wish upon tonight to see you smile.
If only for a while to know you're there.
A breath away's not far to where you are!

I know you're there! A breath away's not far to where you are!

Hi Sad Dog Mom, I'm so sorry that Buddy has passed. I'm noticing that there are so many people here who's babies lived for 14 yrs, me included Buddy sounded like a great companion, I think you did the right thing. I too watched my cat die from cancer as so many in this site have. I believe the body protects them from feeling unbearable amounts of pain by releasing endorphins. So please think about that, and also he was there with his BFF. Best Friend Forever Take Care

Thank you Bue's Mommy - That is a very good thought and I will hang on to it. Your kitty is so beautiful! I am sorry that you had to watch her (him?) die - it is an awful feeling not being able to help them all the while knowing that its time to let go.

Yes, he was my BFF and always will be. You take care as well.

Petmum,

Just thinking about you today and hoping that something happened in your day to make you smile. And hoping tomorrow is an even better day for you.

I am so sorry for your loss....I lost my beloved Maddie to cancer on June 5th....my world is different now....I truly understand your pain...I miss her at every turn....she used to come to work with me so I miss her there too....I had her cremated and just received her ashes back...I created a little memorial for her in my home...I also planted a little garden for her ...I place I can go and feel close to her....she too was my best friend....I cannot tell you how many times that little dog was my pillar of strength....I had to make the decision to let her go...she was suffering....I know she had a GREAT life...I know it was time....but those things offer me no comfort at this time....I cherish the memories and unconditional love she so freely offered me....RIP Maddie....RIP Buddy.

I'm also new to the site......I lost my Sringer "Brittany" on June 24th.......I also knew it was time to let go. To not be selfish & try to keep her with me, knowing she's in pain. She was diagnosed with Cushings Disease......Took her to the vet to put her down........But all they cared about was how I was going to pay for it......So I took her home. And went back to my other vet, who knew her well. He was the same vet that had put my ##er Spaniel down 12 yrs. earlier. After she was gone, the vet came back in the room & we hugged & cried together......That is compassion......
i was feeling alot of guilt & was playing the "what if" game.....What if I brought her sooner to the vet, what if I kept her home a couple of more days, wouls he have gotten better. All these questions were answered by the vet saying that I gave Brittany the best 12 yrs. she could of possibly have had.....She went everywhere with me. She was like my side kick.......But now a part of me is missing.....Such an empty feeling.....
I'm so glad that I found this web site......It helps to know that there are people who really know what you're going thru.....It's only been 3 days, but it seems like 3 yrs. that she's been gone. I still run right home after work, thinking that she'll be there when I turn the key. Everytime i see someone walking their dog, I start crying.....
They say it'll get easier, but I haven't gone thru the 1st's yet. 1st Thanksgiving without her, Xmas, birthday
But you are in my thoughts
