Well.. I took Calvin to the Vet today and after a great deal of discussion and me changing my mind, I decided to let Calvin go:-((( My Vet has taken care of all my animals for over 20 years and in the end he suggested that it would be best to let Calvin go. My heart is breaking:-((

I am so sorry for your loss....it was a brave and courageous thing to do....finding the most loving and compassionate path for your little angel....remember to look within your heart...after the crossing has settled....he will find you there and warm your shattered soul with familiar love.
Be Well. -------------------- Peace Be With You ~ Kathryn ~ Angel Amber ~ Angel CC~ and Sammie
I lost my Amber Tabby Girl of nearly 20 years on 3/28/05 after a valiant battle with end stage CRF. Always a beacon in the storm ~ steady and true. C.C was my purebred White Angora I lost to cancer on 10/22/05 at age 13~ A Big Gentle yet Oddly Eccentric Creature ~Through his congenital deaf ness ~He brought an innocent joy to my life and light to my heart I also adopted an 8 yr old Burmese named Samantha who led me back into my own room ~ still a stranger to me ~ she sweetly gives peace to Amber's final days spent there and lights my way to see in the darkness of the spaces that my precious CC has left behind. |

I'm so sorry. I have a sick diabetic cat myself and am experiencing ups and downs and setbacks. Soon I too will have to make that decision. It was very brave and loving of you to let him go find peace.

Bluestl,
I feel in my heart that you did the right thing. It's okay for your heart to break. It wouldn't be normal if you didn't completely lose it after saying goodbye to your baby Calvin. If you saw how I was after I lost my Sadie you would have thought I had lost my mind. At times I thought I did. ![]() It's just so hard. I wish that no one ever had to lose anyone ever...but I guess it doesn't work that way. In the next life...yes, but now we love and cherish them for as long as we are privileged to do so. There is so much joy and life with them it is no wonder it is so hard to let them go. Calvin is at peace and content now. No more poking and prodding. No more pain or sickness. You did a wonderful thing by sparing him from that. I believe he knows and appreciates that. I am so sorry! Please continue to let it all out here. You need that and so do we all! Take care John -------------------- Sadie (named after the Beatles song "s e x y Sadie") came into my life when I rescued her from a cage in the SPCA in 1991. Then she was taken from me when she ate the tainted IAMs food in 2007. You will always be in my heart and thoughts, Sadie. There will never be another like you!
Rev 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. |

Dear Bluest1 I send you my deepest sympathies, your Calvin had the most wonderful mother a cat could have. Did you know that on average diabetic cats survive only 2 years? Your Calvin, thanks to your dedication and love and good care survived 6 years.
Your devotion is proof of your love, of your courage and your strength. Calvin must be so proud to say that you were his family and he is now in bliss, grateful for his life with you. I know how much you will miss him but you also have every reason to feel that you did everything possible to make his stay on earth a wonderful time. You are a beautiful person. |

Thank You all so much for your kind words. I know everyone here has gone through a loss..that is why we come here. 2 years ago I lost my Shandy (who is pictured in my avatar) and that is how I found this site. Everyones kind words and advice helped me then, as it is helping me now. Calvin was a very tough little guy.. I figured out that over the 6 years of his diabetes I injected him well over 4000 times and not once did he complain. He was a good friend not only to me but also to Shandy and my new dog Faith ( who is taking his loss quite hard as well). She has been pacing around the house and looking for him in every room:-(( My house seems alittle empty right now.. I miss him. BTW ..I was Calvins Dad:-))
Thank You again |
