I think it took a couple of weeks for my cat Gato to realize Moose was'nt with us anymore, after a while he was looking for Moose with a calling meowwww they spent alot of time together while I was working...they waited together for me to come home. Gato is bueatiful, a long haired grey manx that has always been his own guy, part of the family but anytime he would want to show affection, my cat Summer would become upset, and Moose would have no part of anyone being with me except him.....so Gato has always been here. one day last week I sat Gato on the desk in front of me, I told him our Moose was gone and him and I we're all that was left of my little family I came out here with. I am not kidding, he looked into my eyes, he took his paw and touched my check as if to say it's okay, i'm still here. That was a sweet moment, Summer, my cat of 16yrs, used to touch my face like that, I called her my comforter, she always knew when I was sad or sick. She had one eye (had to have it removed when she was 5 bad accident) then her teeth when she was 7, they we're just bad, so here's this bueatiful cat with one eye and no teeth,,,,Gato is her son, and I can still see her face in him...anyways just sharing some memories, I am glad I still have Gato he has also been through everything with me too. so I am going to work on making him feel extra special the rest of his days with me. Dear Pamela,
Oh I bet you loved Summer all the more because she did only had one eye and no teeth. Seems like that is the ones who need the most love. I am glad you still have Gato and Pamela some people may say animals don't understand many thing but the are very smart and I know they do understand. I bet Gato does miss Moose a lot.

I have the pleasure of taking care of my childrens furbabies when they go shopping or to college and things like that. My house is almost always full of kitties, dogs, and our 6 grand children and they all get along well together. The worst problem was getting the lab to leave the kitties alone.

After we lost Chili Bean one of the kitties came and curled up with me and tried to lick my tears, she stayed curled up with me for hours. Amber is not the kind to stay with anyone but a few minutes and I told her what a good girl she was for staying with me and giving me comfort.

Well some people might think I am crazy to watch them at my house and call them my grand kids but I love it and they don't have to be alone for hours. One grand fur baby is cranky sometimes she is a black toy poodle and I get a real kick out of her. Shoot I guess I love them all like my own. My husband and I have taken them to the vets when my children were at work and couldn't do it. They truly are a blessing to me and my husband.

Hey Ann,

I don't think you're crazy for watching your kid's furbabies. There is a doggie daycare kennel that has opened here, it's great, it's a big open warehouse with green and red painted walls and lots of toys and couches for the dogs to lounge on. They also have some kennels for overnight care if needed. And they will give medicines and will take the dogs out during the day for walks in the foothills here.... lots of people think like you do!
