Lookie who came to live with me September 19, 2009 ...

That isn't the best photo showing how beautiful it is in person but is the best choice of what Mike emailed to me in a zip file of several photos. Yes, this was the best of the bunch of photos and was huge so I reduced it and gave it a border because it's pretty. smile.gif

Around a month before he found his way to me, Rene went to the school bus stop to pick up her kids. She noticed this really odd looking bird staring at her. Then it flew right to her hand and licked her fingers. Awww. But, it took off again, went into a tree and I don't recall who Mike (Rene's husband) said climbed the tree and grabbed the birdie by the tail. They brought it home, borrowed a cage from a neighbor and started searching for the owners. But, no one clamed this Green Cheek Conure parrot.

No, I don't know these people, but they are so nice! You see, I still get emails from 911 Parrot Alert whenever anyone in my vicinity finds a bird that resembles my description of Alex. I had subscribed to them (it's free) very shortly after Alex was abducted along with Styx kitty and Buddy dog and I guess they just never take you off their list unless you notify them that your bird has been found or that you don't want any further notifications. Hey, I always send a short email to the finder for just in case.

Well, their kids had named the bird Optimus Prime after the robot in the Transformers movie. What a misnomer because this birdie isn't much bigger than a love bird (not including its long tail), but is built differently. Here's some that I googled then added the borders because it looks pretty ...

Dang, that one looks big but nope. All Green Cheek (or Cheeked) Conures are pretty small and cute as a little shoe button. Awww! Here's an adult Green Cheek Conure ...

Holy Moly, it looks as big as an eagle. But, nope. Then I decided to google "baby Green Cheek Conures" and this is a good one ...

That person must have really small hands because they aren't that big. Here's a very quick read Website if you're interested ...

See? They're really quite small. Oh, that Website says the life span expectancy is around 25 years. About a dozen other sites I googled said 10 years but have been known to live 25 to 30 years with excellent care provided and that's just what this feather kid is gonna get: The mostest bestest excellent care. You betcha! Oh, they love to have their heads scratched, too. See ...

Nope, that's not my new feather kid. I'll write more later about how I got to get this birdie. Okay? By the way, they sell for around $350.00 by breeders so you know they cost more in pet stores. Not that the monitory worth of any creature means a thing. No Un!

The first day I had him, this little stinker was a piece of work. LOL. Such a sweet birdie though. Kissed me but was a tiny bit nippy. Appeared kinda timid. Who can blame it with all it had been through out in the wild and gosh only knows for how long.

Back to his/her first day with me. This bad, bad birdie walked all over my food when I was eating, spilled two vials of pills all over the floor which is my fault because I leave the lids loose since that's easier for me due to my injured left arm. Then, it walked all over my key pad while I was trying to type, pecking at the keys. He also tried to eat part of the blouse I was wearing at the time, followed me into the kitchen, walked on the floor and gave poor Buddy dog what for when he got all excited and tried to approach the critter. But, did he fly away? Nope. Fearless birdie!

It does lean into me for kisses when I say, "Gimme Kiss!" But, he's an honest to gosh Cheeto Bandito. I kid you not! That little bugger stole my Cheetos that first day and he can be very fast, I'll tell ya. So cute and funny. He's really very quiet so far, too. I don't know yet if it's male or female but will keep you posted. Such a sweet feather kid. And another, "Awww!"

More later cuz I'm tired of typing.
Yes, I will be changing its name regardless.
