Hi everyone! Well, this is something I tried a few nights ago, maybe it'll work for you too Anyway, for years I had two budgies-Dixie and Derby. They were the best of friends even though they were two years apart. Dixie was known for getting colds, so when he seemed kinda sick one day, I gave him the medicine I always did when he got sick, covered his cage, and let him rest. The next day, he was stretched out on the floor of the cage dead. I was so devastated, and so was Derby. He had no idea why Dixie was gone and he stopped playing, singing, and looking cheerful like ususal. Well, two nights ago, I placed my hands on top of Derby's cage (he doesn't leave the cage-he has never liked to come out of it) and imagined that I was talking to Dixie. I told him that Derby and I were fine, and we couldn't wait until the day that we would all be together again. I asked him if he could please let Derby know that he was still with us. Right after, I heard Dixie singing right outside my window!!! (keep in mind-this was at night, and Dixie didn't sound like any kind of bird that would be out at any time of day) When I opened my eyes, I saw Derby playing with his swing that hangs in his cage and hopping around his perches just like he used to play with Dixie!!! I truly believe that Dixie came back that night-to sing his sweet song for me(the highlight of my morning was always when he sang to wake me) and to play with his best friend again. magical indeed! I too have "asked" my Ginger for word that he is alright and so forth--so I can relate to your post. I remember one poster here advised another to talk to her remaining animal and "tell" him that the departed one was at the rainbow bridge..etc--the advise was to talk to the remaining animal just as if he were a wordless child...and the reason the poster gave was "because we really don't know how much animals can understand...so what would it harm"? after reading that I thought --yeah!! could it be that they all do understand much more than we think they do??? it is definately a thought!
I personally think animals surpass man in most areas.

Wow, that was a really special assurance from Dixie that he is fine, and that everything is working out as it's supposed to (and as Patti has said, the "death" of the caterpillar is also the "birth" of the butterfly). Thank you for sharing that story!

Hello, it is true that our babies come back to show us some sort of "sign", i didn't believe this at first, the first week after i lost my beautiful littlebit, i was "needing" some sign from her to tell me she was ok and happy and reached that Rainbow Bridge, and finally since she was taken from me in a bad thunderstorm, we knew that she had been struck by lightening since there were no cars out for miles and an hour after she went outside to use the facilities, our nearest neighbor came over and told us that she had spotted my baby out in the field, so then i knew, she had been struck by lightening, but as a total shock to me, i decided to go online and look up "lightening strikes" just for curiousity to help me ease my own pain as to know "did she suffer, was it fast" those kinds of answers i needed, so i went online and typed in "lightening strikes" and all of a sudden there was this warm feeling i felt over me as i scrolled down to see the meaning of "lightening strikes"-pet loss support page", boy did i cry my fanny off, i knew that my beautiful littlebit had led me there to that website just to tell me, "hey mom, i'm ok and i love you", so from my perspective, your little dixie was saying "goodmorning mommy" and it was obvious derby was as happy as can be, i can only imagine how you must have felt to hear that sweet whistle knowing it was dixie, God bless you, he already has, he sent dixie home to say hello.

Old boy Oswald had bouts with diabetes (cats are the only species who can recover from it) and his kidneys were failing when I took him in for that last vet visit. He was a very thirsty cat. He used to like to sleep by the sink in the bathroom. I let the tap run a bit when he was up there because he used to wake up and drink from it. There are lights on each side of the mirror, and there is about a foot and a half on the other side of the sink that runs towards the wall. He used to sleep on the non-wall side - he would jump on the toilet tank to get up there.

To this day, there is a warm spot that is about his height where he used to sleep. There are no pipes under that part of the vanity, and if it was reflected from the lights, the other side of the sink (wall side) would be warm, too, but it isn't. I think his energy is still there.

I asked my husband to go and hold his hand over that spot, and he said it felt warm there, so it isn't just me.

These stories are SO inspiring. They help me to think of the signs I have gotten from my sweet Little Girl.

Hey, at this point, I'm willing to try anything. I agree with littlegirl'smommy, those stories are truly inspiring. I'll have to start watching much more closely for a sign--it does give me hope.

I am sorry that your precious Dixie has passed on..., but his wonderful, musical & happy spirit will ALWAYS BE WITH YOU AND DERBY!!

I am more "open-minded" than pretty much ALL the people that I personally know.....
I truly believe that "many things are possible...."

But, I know I have many "open-minded friends" on LS....
