Hi Judy, you have such a way with words biggrin.gif I laughed when I read your message, as it was so cute. I'm getting my daughter to take more pictures of him with her camera phone then email them to me, so I can post more. I looked at your adorable pictures of Lucky again the other day and they made me smile. You're so right about him not being camera shy; he's a natural! Well, give him another "squeeze" for me.

Thanks, Deb...and Brody(you precious ball of fur). It makes me smile to read you laughed here and also Lucky made you smile. We all need to do that as often as we can..and it is photos like here and all the ones in New Beginnings that help us to do that.

I always come to this Section when I want to smile and I never leave it without doing that.

Gee, I gave Lucky that squeeze and he popped out of my arms..right up to the ceiling rolleyes.gif
Just kidding. We have new game for him while we "older ones" sit on the couch. Just wrap a string loosely on our ceiling fan and then spin it. He watches it go round and round and never fails to bat at it and, of course, it falls down...game over. We don't dare tie it in case he really bites on it. He stands up on his back legs and bats at it. We never leave him alone with any string but it is something never resisted by these sweethearts. When my babies were Brody's age and size, I used to drag 3 strings..one for each of them to chase...across the room and those 3 little kittens never got tired of it. I'll bet Brody would love it too.

Hugs to you guys...especially your teeny, tiny boy.....you just can't get more precious than that rolleyes.gif

Hi Judy, that game sounds like fun and I can imagine them all running at the same time. My mother bought Brody this battery operated toy with a feather that keeps going around in circles back and forth. He looks so funny chasing it around and doing summersaults. We don't let him play with it too long, as he'd get too dizzy rolleyes.gif . I hope Lucky didn't get stuck on the ceiling!!! I'll give that string game a whirl, I'm sure Brody will love it.

Hi, Deb:

The picture of Brody with his new toy made me LOL. I can just picture him rolling over.

I call it string but it can be thick like the cords that open blinds...maybe cord is more like it. It is not skinny like thread..that would not be tough enough. But it is the thickness of a ball of string that we tie packages to mail. I just cut off a long piece and drag it back and forth. And kitties never fail to follow it and jump on it. They put their paw on it ..so cute..thinking they have it..but then you pull it and it slips out from under the paw. Sometimes Lucky grabs it with his teeth (he is bigger than Brody right now so has all his big teeth) and then he starts walking with it and it is like he is on leash...I just follow him while he is pulling me and the string with his teeth.
The ceiling fan one we wrap it around a blade and tie it one time...the kind of tie if you pull it, it comes apart. Then my husband pushes the fan around with this long string dangling but a few feet off the floor. When it comes around to Lucky, he stands up and bats it.
We found the automatic low setting on the fan was too fast...cause kitties love the very slow movement so we just give it a push and it goes around 4 or 5 times before it stops but Lucky has the string down before it stops. He doesn't always get it on the first try either so we just sit back and laugh at his antics.

They are so adorable, aren't they?

Hugs to you and your family...special hug and kiss to Brody. (Still trying to figure out how to lift him out of that picture rolleyes.gif )

Hi Judy

Had to put some "Bitter Apple" on all our wires today as our "little bundle" chewed our telephone wires and screwed up our call features! Like an idiot, I tested it by putting my mouth on the wire, and all I tasted for 4 hrs. was "Bitter Apple!" It's not that bad, but it would be enough to make me steer clear of anything with it on. I wish we had a ceiling fan as I can almost see Lucky's antics when you turn it on. I can understand why you don't have it on high, he'd end up with whiplash! We got some string and you're right, he does love it. It's so funny to watch them... who needs tv? I hope to post more pictures of him next week when my daughter comes over, as he is growing as we speak. They are adorable, and every thing they do makes memories. Take care and enjoy that little dickens of yours!!

Thanks, Deb....yes...Lucky was certainly the distraction I thought he would be and more. huh.gif

Yeah...they are absolutely adorable wanting the string. I have one piece I have kind of shorter and Lucky ALWAYS has his tail straight up in the air with the tip over and I place the string across the tail by his bottom and when he walks he thinks it is chasing him and lots of times he runs around in circles trying to catch the string..Eventually it fall off by itself. In my home where my kittens were born years ago I had no ceiling fans...I just cut a long string and dragged it slowly back and forth across a room and they kept pouncing on it and then I would pull it loose and they never got tired of this game...only I got tired.

Pictures...yes they grow fast. I remember one puppy I had I took her picture at 8 weeks and then started taking a picture a month apart and the pictures really show the difference. Sometimes when we see them everyday we know they are growing but seeing it in a picture..is just...OH MY GOSH.....they really did grow!

I agree about watching the wiring. When my husband vacuums, Lucky guards the long electric cord cause if it moves, he wants to jump on it. Now he just lays on it. But at first he would put his mouth around it like he wanted to bite it and I had to say NO until he stopped that. Wires look like strings do I guess. We know how attracted they are to a string...it moves.
But then Lucky wanted to play with my cable wire too and sometime he really looks interested in what is plugged into outlets. You really almost have to baby-proof your home. My telephone cords by my desks he just lays on top of them and since he doesn't see movement...I lucked out there for now.

I have a coat closet in the living room and I hang one long piece of string there and wrap it around the doorknob but not tie it and let it dangle and sometimes he lies by that door and bats at it hanging. If he does take it into his mouth and try and run it would just come off easily. The only other thing I notice is he sometimes chews on the end of the string and it separates..well I cut that off ...just want to be sure it never gets thin enough to eat..never know what they want to eat.

Also one of his favorite toys is a golf ball. I guess he likes to hear the noise when it rolls on a tile floor. We never knew that before and never tried it with our 3 babies we used to have. They liked balls..my LIttle Guy would take a tennis ball and hold it against his chest/tummy and kick it with his back legs. A way to vent safely. rolleyes.gif

I look forward to more pictures of Brody.......just a little doll!

Hugs plus a special kiss to that little munchkin!

Hi Judy, haven't been around lately as I started working again dry.gif I still can't download any new pictures of Brody, as we're still having trouble, I guess it's time for a new computer tongue.gif I can't believe how fast he's growing!!!!!! It's only been a month and he's doubled his size. I've never had such an affectionate cat before. Simba had his moments, but they were few and far between and I had to get as much from him as he would give and I cherished every one of them. I think Brody was sent to us because of his never ending need for love and playing. It's funny how fast you can fall completely in love with them, isn't it? It feels more like we have adopted a human baby instead of a kitten. I can't imagine life without him. You're right about baby proofing the house! Every time I hear him doing something, I run to see what he's up to. The other day I had the fridge open, and he jumped right in. He also loves getting into the bathtub, although I doubt he'd stay there long if I turned the water on ha ha! I liked the visual of your precious Little Guy with the tennis ball, I can just see the back feet going a mile a minute. I hope you're enjoying your yummy Lucky as much as we're enjoying our Brody. I hope it's not too much longer before I can post more pictures, because the rate he's growing you won't recognize him!

Take care, and give Lucky another big squeeze

Hi Deb

I would love to see pictures of Brody. You said maybe a new computer cause you are having trouble putting pictures here. The one I use mostly I got in 1998 and I have no problem.
Oh, I did notice a problem posting pictures here had to do with the fact I was using Netscape as a browser....upload won't work. But if you use Firefox or Internet Explorer as your browser...you should be able to upload and post. Send me a PM if you want to explore what is going on. Maybe I can help.

Hugs again from me and Lucky wub.gif

Lucky is still going as usual. Tried to jump at a bookshelf I had blocked with wrapping paper.
Claws just slid down the paper tearing it...never made it to the shelf but I doubt he learned
anything..very stubborn kitty.

Hi Judy! Thank you so much for the "Happy Birthday", that was so nice of you. The trouble with the pictures is more to do with our camera not downloading pictures to the computer. My daughter was over today and took a few pictures with her phone, when he would stay still. They aren't very clear, but you can see what he looks like. I can only download one at a time for some reason. He is getting almost as big as Lucky!

Oh, I LOVE that new picture. I find usually that I can only upload one picture per reply. And you have to wait at least 20 seconds before adding another Add Reply with a new picture. That's the way the software works. That's why my pictures are one in each Add Reply....let's me let Lucky "talk" anyway.

Brody is so darned cute. I think Lucky is a lot longer....he should be 3 years old this month as the vet at the shelter when he came in last Sept guessed his age at 2 then. His back legs...the paws turn out...he looks cute jogging with those bowed legs. We still think he thinks he is John Wayne when he comes strolling into the living room.

So try again to load more pictures...one Add Reply to the topic with one picture attached. Wait 20 seconds. then hit Add Reply again and upload the next picture. and anytime you want to add a picture...it is that easy.

I'm glad he is having fun with the string...never saw a cat resist one yet.....even my boy's feral mom would chase a string outside if it was long enough so she didn't have to get too close to people.

Dear Deb and Brody,

Frankee, Jasper, and I just had a short discussion. We decided that we all want to pick Brody up and give him big kitten hugs and kisses. He's sooooooooo adorable. The boys also told me that they wished they lived next door to you so they could have a play session with Brody. He's absolutely precious.

Thank you Michelle! I'm sure Brody would have a hayday, as he is always so ready to play. He is the most affectionate kitten I've ever had, always wanting to cuddle. I will give him those kisses and hugs and please give them right back to Frankee and Jasper.

Hi Judy, I'm glad I could send more pictures. Thanks for the advice about sending them. My daughter is coming over again this weekend, so there should be more. I'm so glad you got Lucky from the shelter too, as I think they were put there so animal lovers like us can rescue them. I got quite the chuckle about the "John Wayne" thing, it must look so cute. Since Brody is an indoor cat, we had his front claws removed the other day. I waited a little while before deciding, but he took quite the liking to out new sofa and chair. I thought I could pick him up the same day after work, but I had to wait till the next day. After blubbering like a new mom, I realized it was for the best that I waited as they monitor them and give them pain meds if they need them. When I picked him up, you'd never know he went through anything as he is just as spry as before. The vet said the younger they are, the easier it is on them. It's so beautiful when you think of all the unconditional love they give us, and yet they ask for so little in return. I went to another site called "Chance's Spot" after we lost our Simba and they hold a candle light ceremony in memory of all the loves we have lost.
All they ask is for you to give a small donation and they will call out your pets name.
It's on Sept. 16th this yr., and even though I can't go there I will know that his name will be read at it. I remind Brody that his big brother is always watching, so he has to be a good boy. Well, give Lucky my big squeeze and take care.

Hi Deb

I am looking forward to more Brody pictures. Lucky just got his nails clipped today. We think he is about 3 years old this month. He has apparently gained 2 lbs since we got him the day after Christmas last year. He does still jump into the cardboard carrier and is so easy to take to the vet. My former 3 all resisted bigtime. He now weighs 11.6 lbs. But Little Guy was 16 pounds, his twin brother Keeper was 12 lbs and the Little Girl was 9 lbs (she was tiny) so I wonder how big Lucky will get. He now wants to get into bookshelves, on top of counters and tables, and he doesn't mind being water squirted. My kittens (really the Little Girl) was into bookshelves..the boys were not..so don't really know how to get through to Lucky NOT to lay where he is not supposed to.

It was easier training my kittens cause they were so tiny and light weight. A big boy like Lucky doesn't fit too well on a shelf with breakables. It is like a game with him. Exhausting is what it is. He is young..we are not. He thinks the scratching pole is for eating the carpeting on it. He sees us open the door and he likes to jump on top of the couch by the door and reach with his paw to touch the doorknob. He knows that opens the door but hasn't figured out how to use it.

How much does Brody weigh? He is so precious. And yes, I do believe his big brother, Simba, is definitely watching over you and Brody. How could he not be?

Love and Hugs back to you and Brody (and that beautiful Angel...Simba)
Judy
