I found this place that is in Canada that says all you have to have is a prescription to get it...can your vet write the prescription for it? I'm not sure about all that stuff you were saying about your vet getting liscenced...is it one of those drugs that require DEA liscense? My husband can't find a thing about it ....it is obviously an animal only drug, and he is limited to the suppliers he has access to( he works for a chain Pharmacy). Here is the link to that mail order pharmacy if it is at all helpful...

In the meantime, I am glad that she is showing so much improvement...that in itself is a blessing!

hi

i live in canada and spoke to my vet about this drug. she said it originated in japan and i think she said it was used on humans there?? apparently this is a condition in asians but not caucasions??? i'm not sure i heard her right on that one; however, she did say this is the very best drug out there for dcm. she did mention it is not approved in the u.s. anyways, apparently the longevity can sometimes be increased 2-3x. i am so glad your baby is feeling so much better. email me if you think there is anything i can do to help. take care and don't give up hope.

hi

i just spoke with my vet and she clarified the canadian regulations regarding this drug. it is presciption and by law, the veterinarian must see the dog and owner before dispensing the medication. she asked if your vet was requesting an emergency release and i assume that is what you are referring to regarding the license your vet is trying to get. apparently, these releases usually go thru quite quickly and she thought it would probably be through in time. her recommendation: in the event that it does not come through in time and your dog is doing better on the medication...you have nothing to lose by trying to make the trip with her. hopefully this won't be necessary. take care of yourself. my thoughts and prayers are being sent your way. please keep us posted.
