She was such a good girl. She was 10 years old, and had a heart murmur. She'd been on medication, but still, as the vet predicted, a blood clot went to her hips, paralyzing her and cutting off circulation. Within 30 minutes of finding her at breakfast-time on Thursday, she was gone.

I still have to make myself only get *two* food bowls instead of three. And call out for only *two* kitties instead of the song that had all three of their names. And to see her empty bed from outside, when it always had her little head in it, was so sad.

DH said he was going to try to learn to flip eggs like at the nationality restaurant, and I said, "Doncee will LOVE that" because she loved eggs so much. I forgot...

I have some guilt, but I'm doing a lot of grieving, 'by the book'. Being kind to myself and DH and the other kitties and poochie. Eating well, but indulging in Oreos. Getting HUGE amounts of rest. And we'll be volunteering at the HSUS in Gaithersburg, MD. We had planned on it before Doncee passed away, and now will do it in her memory.

I saw in my mind's eye when I prayed for her that she was bounding into Heaven, and Jesus was there waiting for her. She hadn't 'bounded' in a very long time, being sick.

I pray for her and for us, and for all of you too.

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss. Even when you are expecting it and try to prepare yourself, it's just never easy to say good-bye to our little babies. Please don't blame yourself. I'm sure you did everything possible for that sweet little girl. She had a good life with you and you can let your heart smile knowing she's not in pain or suffering anymore. Still, the selfish parts of us want them here with us regardless.

Please be kind to yourself.

Hi

I am so sorry for your loss. I have just lost one of my cats too, now i only have my little girl left (Mouse). It is just how you said in your message, i get two food bowls from the cupboard for breakfast and have to really stop myself form calling out both their names!! How are you other cats coping with their loss? Sometimes i wish i knew just what Mouse is thinking when she is sniffing her brothers empty bed or when she is staring out of the cat flap.

I'm so sorry! My Spicey had congestive heart failure and I lost her peacefully in her sleep on August 17th. Her mother Nymph has a heart murmer, among other things, I wonder if she will go like your Doncee.

I too kept forgetting, I'd come home after work and for a split second go looking for her until reality hit. At least 3 times I prepared 3 plates of food and then with a sinking heart realized I only needed two now.
I like to think that perhaps her spirit is nearby and watching and hopefully amused by my silliness and also realizing though how much I love and miss her.

Know that I feel for you as do so many others on this site.
