Danny Boy, sweet Cindy, too,
Are held within my peaceful heart,
Remembered fondly though they and I
Are many months and miles apart.

But Christmas came; a pet stopre visit
Revealed a tiny yellow boy
Who looked expectant, they suddenly burst
Into a song of mounting joy.

And so that small canary bird,
Sunny Boy, came home to stay,
Bringing ease to my aching heart
And pleasure to each and every day.

My tiels I will ever miss
But grief dulls with passing time,
Softened by that yellow bird
Whose lovely songs have made him mine.

I gave up my tiels a year ago and 8 months ago they returned to Denver with the people who first gave us Danny. They are now safe and in a loving home. At Christmas my husband took me to a pet store and bought me a little yellow and black canary. Although I will never get over the loss of my tiels, Sunny's antics and lovely warbling is helping to ease the pain.
