Boy, I still miss my Happy sooooo very much, even though its been almost 3 yrs. I remember the day my husband and I found him as a stray at our house. He was so sweet. The reason we decided to name him Happy was because when we found him he seemed so sad and alone but in no time he was Happy. It was summer time and he was soo thursty and hungry, and after his meal, his spirit was "Happy." We guessed Happy was half german shepherd and half lab. He was so perfect. We didnt have a backyard (we lived on five acres), I figured Happy would have wondered off the next day, but nope. I woke up the next morn and there he was on our front porch, like it had been his home the whole time. That whole summer Happy followed my every step. We only had Happy for five months, and I hope those were the best five months of his life, only because we thought he was abused. But he always trusted us. Five months later was the end of October and coming home from work one day Happy wasnt on the porch like he normally was. I yelled for him but no Happy. That night my husband and I looked everywhere for him but nothing. By this time I'm crying, worried sick. Until the next day he was shot by a man down the road, stating our dog tried to kill his deer. OHHHH please, give me a break, our 75# Happy was scared of the neighbors 7# mini dach. But anyway, the man tried filing a lawsuit for $9000 against us, saying Happy killed 2 of his deer and chewed the tail off a buck. By the way this twisted man sells deer as "PETS" for $2500 a piece. We live in the country and i KNOW it was a ceyote or bob cat. Well to make a long story short, he never got the money because we took pics of Happy before we buried him and he had no blood on him except for where he got shot, in the stomach and face. The pics proved his innosence. But I know Happy is in heaven running free and has not a worry in the world. Mom and Dad love you and still miss you so much. You were the best dog we ever had. And to all of you who are true animal lovers, GOD BLESS YOU!

I am so sorry for the loss of your Happy. I am so sorry to hear that you have to live next to such a terrible person and I'm glad he didn't get any money. I'm sure your little Happy knew you loved him and am so sorry he did not have a long life with you.

What a heartbreaking story! I am SO sorry that your precious Happy was shot by this terrible man. It just breaks my heart sad.gif

There are some really bad people in this world. I live in the country too. My neighbor had a problem with a man across the street from him. Whenever his dog wandered near his yard, the man shot him with a beebee gun. Poor boy. He wasn't killed from the shots, but I know they had to hurt him. There are SO many other ways to deal with a problem, but violence is the WORST!

Thank goodness Happy spent the last 5 months of his life in your care. I'm sure you gave him the VERY best! Try to take comfort in that.

My thoughts are with you,
Cheri

I'm sorry your time with Happy was so short, and even more sorry that he was taken from you in such a senseless act of violence. At least he had 5 wonderful months in his short little life.

Take care,
Kathleen
