My Bird Died Options

hello my parekeet died this morning and i dont know why. yesterday she was shacking and holding her wings out and i thout mabby she was cold so i covered her up over the night then i found her dead this morning? she was 4 years old.
i love her so much she would sing all day now the house is quit and i miss her so much.

I am not sure why your little bird died, but I DO know that she is in a place that is peaceful and wonderful now. Many of us wonder WHY when our pets die, but the most important thing is that we loved them and took care of them while they were with us.

I have over the years lost many birds for one reason or another.

The only comfort I can offer you is that you did the right thing in covering her up and leaving her quiet. Most times all the bird needs is rest and quiet.

They are so small that all the vet can do most times is give you medicine to put in their water, which is useless if they are not drinking.

The quiet house is something we all have to learn to live with when we loose our pets, leave the radio on so when you come home the house at least has some noise if not the noise your heart is longing for.

We are in the same boat. I had a baby chicken that I was trying to keep warm many years ago. I had her on a heating pad set to the lowest setting, and I wrapped her in a towel so she'd be nice and warm. She stopped chirping in a few minutes, so I thought she was happy, didn't think anything about it. When I came back in an hour she'd been cooked.
I'm sure you had nothing to do with your parakeet's death, she was probably sick. When they ruffle their feathers and shake they are showing signs of illness, especially if you live where it is not cold. Just be comforted in that you did nothing wrong and that she isn't hurting anymore. My heart goes out to you and your birdie.
