Hi Everyone:

I know that when we drive our babies to the veterinarian's, IT CAN BE A VERY, VERY STRESSFUL DRIVE.......

Well...........yesterday AM, Ben and I were planning on take Ms. Lucy to the vet for an appt., at 8:30am.........Well,
she saw her carryall...........and took off for the hills........
(Actually, she went to her hiding place in the closet).........

Anyway, I was able to get an appt., for 9:45am, so as soon as I got her in the carryall.......we left for the vet's....
Ben couldn't come with me, he had to get to work as he had a customer coming in early....

I was on a very, very busy route, trying to get to the vet's office..........Backed up, cars piled on top of one another.

I was driving about 30 mph, and I had to step on the brakes a bit quick ---- causing Lucy's carryall to tip forward
somewhat......

I took my eyes off the road for 1/2 second, to try and fix Lucy's carryall, and BEFORE I KNEW IT..........I was halfway into the other lane (with a car coming towards me........)

Not that we all don't know HOW CAREFUL WE NEED TO BE IN A CAR...............But, that 1/2 second could've been
it.............. You know???

I'm not telling anyone anything new.......
I just wanted to share...........

Please everyone...........just be careful!!!!

God Bless You All!!!

Love, Denise xo

Very good point Denise, especially this time of year with all the distracted Christmas shoppers. Might also be a good idea to buckle up those pet carriers if at all possible.

Thank you for reminding us all how careful we need to be in the roads these days. Our furbabies can be distracting in a car too. As JT pointed out, there many distracted Christmas shoppers on the road too. We keep telling ourselves that we are going to purchase the canine seat belts and haven't done it yet. Maybe this will help motivate me to get those!

I'm SO very glad that you and Ms. Lucy are okay.

Yes, I have learned that it just takes one second to change your life, it is important to be aware of what could happen. Defensive driving if you will, they used to teach that course when I was young. For our carriers, I think it would be a safe thing to buckel that down...as you would any of your other babies....good food for thought thanks.....Pamela

Hi Everyone:

Thank you guys.............. You're right............the distracted Christmas shoppers who have nothing on their mind but getting to the mall..... blink.gif

Drives me nuts!!!! But, I wasn't paying attention......for 1/2 second......I know that.....

But, on my Christmas List................I will have "buckles for our kids".......... I didn't know that they had them.........
Thank you for telling me & letting me know....

Your right Pamela, DEFENSIVE DRIVING.............. I know that out here, in the North East, when we have an inch
of snow.............people panic, and they drive 20 MPH............
And, a lot of those people cause accidents..........

I don't especially LOVE driving in the snow...........but, I love this Season, more than any other!!!!!

And, I make sure that our car is "equipped" to drive in the snow.....

But, we will purchase those buckles........Thank you for that idea...........

I know that they have (at PETCO), lots of "clothes/sweaters" for furdogs, but how bout "furcats"??????
Mr. Yoster, we may have to ship him to Florida (NO WAY!!!! ohmy.gif ),
but, he'll do anything to get under the covers..............
Even with the heat at 72 degrees, he's such a cold lil' guy........

Any ideas????

Love, Denise xo

P.S. THIS SITE AND ALL OF YOU, YOU'RE THE BEST!!!! wub.gif biggrin.gif wub.gif biggrin.gif !!!!!!

Denise - I think the Foster and Smith catalog has heated mats / beds for pets. Synthetic sheepskin might be a consideration for Mr. Yoster's bed.

Also - we bought a dog seat belt for our Heidi at Pecto.

We were looking after the neighbours dog a couple of weeks ago and every time we went to work i sat in the back with her.

this day i sat in the front as she is extremely spoiled and would relax more and less trauma to my legs.

So I said to Ian – ‘if this air bag goes of were both dead’ and didn’t think any more of it.

20 mins later hes heading towards a parked milk van and not slowing down – I'm assessing can he overtake safely at this speed while say wow wow wow wow wow wow wow getting louder and louder.

Finally her heard me slammed on the breaks and poor smudge went flying. I knew what was about to happen yet never held on to her.

Any was she was ok, a little upset but fine the amazing thing is that I was looking at seat belts for her before they bought her over and they didn’t have medium!!!!!!!!!

What with the belt and my saying about the air bag ---------- spooky eh-------- unsure.gif

I second that Denise.

When I was driving from Florida to NYC with my Punky for his cancer treatment, he had a seizure while we were on the highway. He began falling off the passenger seat. I had to try to pull off to the side of the highway with one hand while guiding his slide onto the floorboard with my other hand so that he did not injure himself. The mommy instinct is so strong in me it was hard to not let go of the wheel and scoop him up into both arms at that moment. Luckily he has not had a seizure since then.

I hope no one has to go through that. Please be careful out there driving with your precious babies.

Or don't be like me when I dropped Snookie off at the vets and had to leave her in the hospital I was crying my eyes out not knowing if I would ever see her again or not, and I was going to fast. I got pulled over by the police although he gave me a warning for the speeding part I got a ticket for not having a current insurance slip with me. Here where I live, you just have to show your proof and they let it go, but in Jackson it is a $25.00 ticket. Bummer
