I have to write this............yesterday a pet shop in long island new york went up in flames. All inside were lost puppies kittens birds fish. I am having a really hard time with this, knowing they were all trapped in cages.God almighty how scared were they! It was on the news{every channel} it seemed to haunt me. the owners and staff were all crying it was soooooooo horrible. There was even a 24 hour vet right next door, but there was nothing to save. I just hope and pray this will wake up people to the horrid plight of animals that come from puppy mills all across america! dont buy from them!! please these babies were born to die a horrible death, trapped scared. they never had a chance. Thank u all for hearing me, I just cant stop thinking about it.

I have heard horror story after horror story about animal abuse, and accidents, and suffering, I am so sensitive to it I have to plug my ears. As long as we live on this earth there will be awful things that happen. As a whole this is a hard place to live, people are starving, there are mean hearts that are so cruel to one another, it is the world that we live in. Someday, it will not be like this, the hurt and the pain and the loss. And accidents will happen on every single second of the day. It is sad but true, that is why it is in each of our souls to look beyond, and to press on. Like a candle in the dark. Pamela

God Bless the Souls of all those precious babies!!!!!!

I myself, find it very difficult to watch the news----------whether it be about human children, any abuse, and animals!!!!! sad.gif
Makes me sooooooooooooo ill that I just want to vomit.... (sorry!)

I clearly remember a story back from July 4th, and their were a few puppies, and SOME KIDS (EXPLITIVES!!!!!), thought it
WOULD BE FUNNY...................TO PUT FIRECRACKERS IN THEIR MOUTHS!!!!!!!!

I don't know how those stupid creeps were punished, but.........just let me have them for an hour........
That's all I have to say......

You hurt/abuse a human child.............YOU GET THE SAME PUNISHMENT AND 100 XX WORSE!!!!!!!
Same thing goes for our furry friends, and all of God's precious babies; whether they be "finned", "winged", "scaly", "rodents"..........

I am sure that ALL OF THE PRECIOUS babies in the fire went to St. Francis's loving arms QUICKLY, and now they are all at Rainbow's Bridge..........where all of our babies "are showing them the ropes"!!!! wub.gif

Sad story...........my heart is broken!!!

Love you All!!

Denise xoxo

This may be of little comfort, but most of these animals were likely rendered unconscious before the worst of it due to carbon monoxide poisoning. If you recall in the news article, there was so much ~smoke~ (not fire) that fire fighters could not get in. To me its a small, albeit bitter, comfort. I hate animal suffering more than anything else I know.

I always hate to hear when any animals are in a fire and can not get out and their life is lost. I also hate how the puppy mills treat the little animals and use them for profit. I hate any abuse or neglect of any kind, whether it is to animals or humans. We must pray for the welfare of helpless animals and humans and that the evil people who hurts them will pay for what they have done.

My girls went to the Rainbow Bridge 6 weeks and 3 days apart.
Snookie had cushing's disease, and later developed diabetes. Both had cancer, Snookie had cancer of the liver, and Chili Bean had cancer of the pallet. Chili Bean was our son's chihuahua but we kept her often throughout her life and she stayed with us for the last 9 months of her life. Chili Bean also had asthma and heart failure. We will see you in Heaven my precious darlings.

It is so upsetting to hear of animals or children being abused, hurt in any way. They are so helpless and dependent on us.

I'm sure those babies never suffered from the flames and as someone mentioned they were unconscious due to the smoke. You have to believe this to ease the pain of it all. Still it is a very heartbreaking situation and it tears my heart apart. I hate watching the news anymore and if I am and something is going to be on there that is going to tear my heart apart I shut it off or switch to something else. My heart aches for those babies!

Hi Oasis,

I'm like you -- I tend to pick up on sadness and suffering very easily and carry it with me.

It's a hard line to walk. That sensitivity is a great part of who we are, it's part of what makes up our loving and caring nature; it's also a liability when it comes to our own emotional well-being. On days when I'm not feeling strong, I'll drive past some poor skunk or raccoon that didn't make it across the road the night before and for the next half hour I'll be haunted by vivid images of the terror and pain of their last moments of life.

I've become like many of the others who've answered this thread: I avoid the news whenever I can. They (the media) specialize in shock and horror -- those things attract viewers and sell advertising time. It's impossible to avoid it all, of course, but I hate logging on to check my e-mail and having, first thing in the morning before coffee, to face a news splash screen that practically shouts, "You've got DISASTERS!" Ugh.

None of that answers your questions, I'm afraid. I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I, too, cried when I read your telling of this sad story.

Maybe all we can do is save the ones we can embrace?

Best wishes,

-- Daryl
