I am having a difficult time with the loss of my Stinker Bear Tortise kitty of 15 years, that I have been non-functional. I've never experienced this severe a loss until now... even though I had my dog of 9 years was killed last year, the devastation doesn't seem to compare.
I took my anemic kitty to the vet hospital on Sunday afternoon and the first impression was that they were there to help, considering the vet I had earlier in the week to draw for blood tests never called me to give results... so I was feeling better when this dr was a little more aggressive with his diagnosis...but when another dr went on call that eve at the hospital, my direct requests to give additional nutrients-vitamins & minerals - to help get her own system to build on its own.... were disregarded, and the answer to my question to her was " I am not going to go there with you" was her cold response...
Additional comments from the vet on call was that the additional shots could interfere with the transfusion, but a rational explanation was not given, only again..."I am not going to go there with you on this"..."it was my call and I made it"..." I was told that about you (that I requested the holistic approach), but again...
How could someone like that be allowed to practice.... my only solace is this - never again will I just sit idly by and allow the medical profession to make decisions for me...I must be the one to research and not be walked over just for the $1200+ they wanted to get on their books....and to spread the word. Anybody ever hear that nutrients that the body is lacking is not to be given because it would interfere with a transfusion????
I have been checking all sources, and never has this been an issue...

What I have found is this site and www.shirleyswellnesscafe.com...if only I had found this two days earlier, the outcome of my baby could have been different! sad.gif

Oh my gosh! I cannot believe the nerve of that vet, that makes me very angry mad.gif
I don't think people like that should be allowed to treat anyone or anything with that kind of disregard for the obvious emotional state of the families who are involved. I believe that it should take a special person, with not only the very best knowledge of their practice, but also someone who has nothing but the best interest of their patients, and the patient's family in mind.
I am terribly sorry that because of that person's callousness, you had to say goodbye to your beloved friend, though only 'til you meet again.

I also have never heard of nutrients interfering with a transfusion. I'll try to look some things up, and if I find anything I will definitely let you know either way.
And I too know your hurt and frustration. I am myself going through all of the 'what ifs' and 'if onlys'. Please don't let those feelings and thoughts cloud your mind. You did the very best that you knew to do at the time, and your precious kitty knew that.
I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.
God bless,

Summer

There is somebody at the Vet Hospital that is in charge of hiring, firing and discipline or at least some authority that regulates veterinarians.

All I can suggest is that you find out who this is and if they receive enough complaints then they will dismiss this person.

You could also demand a refund in your letter, unless of course you owe them money, saying that due care and attention was neglected. Im sure you wont get a refund not without Lawyers winning all your money but the threat may be enough to make them sit up and listen.

Nothing is going to bring back your baby and I believe that some things are just meant to be, I believe that no matter what I would have ended up having to have Jude put to sleep it was our destiny, and no matter how hard I tried or what I did I would have had to do it in the end anyway, maybe it was her gift to me in that I am a more compassionate person and am involved in spiritual work which would never have happened had she died naturally.

But I am a lot further along in my grief than you are and you must release some of the anger safely, punch a pillow scream at the wall and have a tantrum on your bed.

Then sit down and write you letter.

Love Sue

Pamela!!

WHAT A COMPLETE JERK!!!!!!!! mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

In '98, when I dealt with an incompetent and rude (both) vet, I spoke with the head of the state veterinary board (I was so shaken up, for so long, that I didn't end up following through...), but this person thought there was a chance I'd have a case.

I am so sorry this has happened. Your sweet Stinker Bear KNOWS how much you love her. She really does. And she will never know any pain---not emotional, not physical. She's in the spiritual realm where there's just bliss. And she wants you to be able to be as happy as you possibly can (I know right now that's impossible sad.gif )... You'll be fully reunited one day.

I find it comforting, what Sue said: "I believe that some things are just meant to be, I believe that no matter what I would have ended up having to have Jude put to sleep it was our destiny"... I believe that. Also, the pain does lessen---a lot, even though it doesn't seem possible right now.

Please keep in touch. I'm sending prayers and comfort,

Kathy
