Bonnie girl:

Mommy still thinks about you all day long. I was singing one of our silly songs to your sister, the one about my two dogs, and it was so sad because I don't have two dogs anymore. I still talk about my girls like both of you are still here. You've been gone almost seven months but it hasn't sunk in yet that you've gone on. I was talking about you while we were eating tonight and how you used to make the "snarly face" at your sister when you would try to hog all the love. She ignored it but you wanted to make sure she knew you didn't approve. You could make the scariest face with that tiny little mouth, with all of your itty bitty buck teeth showing. It was always so entertaining having the two of you around with all the crazy stuff you did.

Your sister tried to take off with a whole roll of toilet paper in her mouth the other day. You know how she loves it. I remember how she used to stand on her hind legs and roll the paper off the roller and you would grab the end of the paper and run through the house. Well, she still is crazy about any kind of paper, except the kind they put in hotel rooms. Remember how the two of you used to turn your noses up at it? That cheap paper isn't worth the trouble. You just hated the one-ply kind.

I hope you are having fun and being spoiled rotten by everyone. We send you all our love. There's a big hole here where you used to be.

Bonnie:

Mommy hasn't written you a letter in a while but I don't want you to think it means I'm not thinking about you because I think about you all the time! I still miss you so much and I was just looking at your pictures yesterday and smiling at your sweet little face.

I was thinking about you earlier this evening when your sister was barking at the neighbors. I remembered how sometimes you helped her bark but didn't really want to interrupt your nap, so sometimes you'd be lying there in a patch of sunlight with your eyes closed, barking! You silly girl, you were so funny.

There are 6 new baby goats across the road and I know you would be as fascinated with them as we all are. They are not much bigger than you. We love to watch them play and of course your sister sits on the back of the couch all day and looks out the window at them. I know she wishes you were here to help her keep an eye on everything. She is doing much better by the way. I think she is finally getting used to being the only baby in the house and her health has improved and she doesn't seem depressed anymore. I don't think I will ever get used to you being gone. I know you feel so much better now and I don't want to be selfish about keeping you here when you were so sick, but if only I could have you back here with me and you could be healthy and happy. We had such wonderful times and you were a huge blessing in my life.

I miss you like crazy and I will love you forever.

BonniesMom, I so enjoyed reading your letters to your precious little Bonnie Lou. She was clearly loved very much and well taken care of. Such a sweet little face she has! I can just imagine how much joy she brought you and how affectionate she was. It is wonderful that you are still remembering her this way and keeping her memory alive.

Bonnie Lou! I am so sorry I haven't written in a while but you know Mommy thinks about you every day! Your daddy and I were just talking yesterday about the time we took you and your sister to an outdoor festival when you were just pups. You didn't want to walk on the leash so you were trying to grab people as they walked by and make them pick you up! You were standing on your hind feet begging them to carry you, you silly girl. Everyone was smiling at you because you were being so cute.

I guess you have probably been following your sister's antics if you are able to see us from heaven. She was pretty sick a few weeks ago, I think from a nasty old flea pill the vet's office gave her, because she was fine until she took that. We came down with an awful flea infestation even though she had her topical medicine on. She's much better now and I will never allow her to have one of those pills again, just in case. She's like a whole different pup since you passed on. At first she was very lonely so we started giving her new activities. She's the official greeter at your Mamaw's store whenever we visit there, and she hikes and rides in cars and has become very social with everyone, though she still isn't quite sure about those very small people that are called "babies". She is a bit afraid of them but of course she's popular with children because she's so cute.

Mommy dreams about you a lot and wishes you were here. I can't believe it will be a year in July since you left us. Next week your sister will have to celebrate her birthday without you for the first time. I think I will set aside an honorary "pupcake" with a candle for you too. I wish so much that you were still here.

We are sending you many many kisses. Keep on having fun and playing with your new friends until I get there with you. I hope there are plenty of red ladybug squeaky toys for us to play with together.

Bonnie Lou:

Happy 13th birthday! Mommy misses you so much! We had a party for your sister and I kept thinking about how you should have been there too. I remember last year when you turned your back on your cake and wouldn't eat it and how we laughed about it because you were so picky. I would never have thought that day that we wouldn't still have you for your 13th birthday.

I hope your first birthday spent in heaven has been wonderful. Maybe they have really good cake there that you will like. And squeaky toys. And Greenies treats.

Mommy loves you as much as ever. I wish I could hug and kiss you. I can't wait until the day I see you again.
