Hi, Tracy, rainy, dreary, damp Tuesday afternoon greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang. I hope this finds you and your precious companions doing well and in good spirits. I know today is a long one for you at work, and I hope you have a ride home tonight.
Yes, canceling the DISH service is a part of my "finance consolidation" that I started a couple of years ago. I would have canceled the satellite service last year except that I was under a 2-year contract that could not be canceled without incurring fees and penalties. A class action suit was placed against DISH for false price advertising, and the only way I was able to keep the service for the past year was that I was allowed to change my package to their basic service without incurring any fees or penalties. Of course when I called to cancel the service I started getting a pitch about their "newest" offers - - which met with a firm "no thank you." I cannot justify paying money to a satellite or cable provider for TV service. I am very happy being back to standard antenna service and supplementing programming through HuluPlus. Once I get my taxes settled I may add Netflix and perhaps Amazon, or may purchase a couple of individual channels that interest me through my Roku box. For now, though, I have quite enough to keep me sufficiently, and happily, entertained. It is a rainy, dreary, damp day. This morning in between the showers the birds were singingly cheerily - - thankful for the rain to rinse the dust of the drought off their feathers. At one point the birds came serenading just outside the big windows which promptly brought Noah out of his nap at that time. He has had his lunch and is now snuggled into his lamb's wool cushion with his paws over his eyes taking a nap. It is raining steadily at the moment, so the birds and squirrels are tucked warmly into their nests and dens. Still have the lunch dishes to do, and in about 30 minutes or so will need to make a trek to the mailbox. I hope today is treating you kindly at work, my friend, and once again hope that you will have a ride home tonight so that you and your precious Theresa and little Tang can have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious Theresa and little Tang. Please know you and your precious companions are in my thoughts and prayers, that I always look forward to knowing how you and your precious fur tribe are doing, and to sharing your treasured memories of your beloved Sir Thomas. I'm sorry to hear you had to give up your Dish, but it sounds like you weren't happy with it anyway. And, you have a plan going forward which is good. It has not rained here today; just been cold and gray. I'm chuckling at Noah perking up to the birds and squirels. Theresa and Tang do this too, especially Theresa. They get so into it they start "chattering" It's adorable to watch. Tang gave me a scare this morning. I was literally on my way out the door, running late, final good-byes. When I looked down and saw the redness in his ear; he really did a number on it. And I barely had time to grab some tissue and clean it up a little. No time for the cleaner, or Benadryl or anything. It's had me a bit worried all day ![]() As far as I know I have a ride home, and I am getting to work up until 7:00. So, that;s 2.5 hours of OT which will help. Especially with taxes going up (I though we avoided the "cliff") I'm losing an additional 11.00 per week on a 40 hour check. I'm sure it will increase with OT (sigh) But, every little bit helps I guess. Not much else going on. Another hour before the training and then I guess I can go home to the fur kids. I hope you and Noah had a great day and a wonderful evening. TTFN TTT -------------------- Nature's first green is gold

Hi, Tracy, cloudy, damp Wednesday afternoon greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious companions doing well and in reasonably good spirits.
I can so imagine how worried you were about your precious Tang's ear while you were at work yesterday, and hope the condition now looks better with the good nursing and loving he received last night when you got home. I look forward to knowing how things are for your precious little boy. I'm so glad you will be getting OT from last night's training. I can so understand how upsetting it is to see your paycheck shrink because of the new tax laws. I saw that happening with my paycheck last year because of the tax laws that were in effect, and I know if I were working now my paycheck would be even less which would barely offset the cost of gasoline and maintenance on the car if I had accepted the transfer to the Roanoke office. I hope and pray that the OT will help you, my friend. I was planning on doing grocery shopping tomorrow, but much to my surprise the area is now under a winter weather advisory for tomorrow for snow, sleet, freezing rain - - yukers. I do have enough in the fridge to keep me satisfied through the weekend and into early next week if the storm actually materializes. If I run out of veggies I do have canned soup to fall back on until I can comfortably get to the store. I am not in the mood to attempt shopping this afternoon among the frenzied crowds. This is a surprise and rapid development from last night's forecast - - it is January after all. The birds are happy today that the rain has finally ended as they are cheerily singing at the moment even though the thick cloud cover continues. We got a good soaking which is good for the well, but does little to abate the severe drought in the region. The residents living along the banks of Smith Mountain Lake are up in arms because the lake levels are dropping because of the drought which is interfering with their ability to launch their boats from their priviate boat slips. As I drive along the road and cross the bridges over the lake I see how the land that once was is reclaiming what was taken from it when Appalachian Power flooded the area when they built the dam several decades ago to provide power to a select few. I hope for the long term that the falling lake levels will help with the lowering of real estate assessment values - - as the surrounding counties of the lake, including Franklin County, severely artificially inflated the property values during the "boom". Noah is on his lamb's wool cushion with his paws over eyes taking a nap and is softly snoring at the moment. He is soooo precious. We played a good game of soccer / volley ball this morning so he's replenishing his energy levels until it's time for lunch. I hope today is treating you kindly at work, my friend, and that your travels home this evening will be safe and expedient so that you and your precious Theresa and little Tang can have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. For sharing the history of your community; I always find that interesting. I hope your hopes for your area come true. The wintery mix seems to have moved on today, and should continue to throughout the week. But we got blasted last night with ice and freezing rain turning back and forth from ice to rain and back again. It took almost 45 minutes to get home between that, the inexpliciple trafiic for that time of night, and the fact my ride loves to take the long way. But with the roads/weather it was probably best. And beggars can't be choosers. Tang's ear didn't look as bad as I tought it would and it cleaned up OK. I gave him a 1/2 dose of Benadryl for good measure that he endured like the little Sgt. Tang trooper he is. It was a bit dirty tonight and looking not so good. But on closer inspection it looks like some of the mass is scabbing over; so maybe it's trying to heal. I'm sure the Tresiderm helps with that. He does not show any other outward signs of distress due to it for which I'm grateful. I gave Theresa some "daddy hugs" tonight that she greatly enjoyed. They have had their can food and are relaxing comfortably now, Not much else going on so I will bid you and Noah a most pleasant good evening. Hi, Tracy, rainy, cloudy, dreary Thursday afternoon greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious companions doing well and in reasonably good spirits.
So glad your precious Tang's ear is looking better after a good cleaning and treatment. And I'm so very glad your travels home Tuesday night were safe, although long. I hope the weather is improving in your area today. The forecast for snow in the region here continues to get later for arrival - - which at this hour is expected to arrive sometime this evening and continue snowing into the night. I may have some shoveling to do at the street tomorrow if the accumulation is more than a couple of inches. The good news is that the temps are supposed to warm up a bit over the weekend, so whatever accumulation we get overnight will soon be melted away. Not much going on here today. Noah and I are looking forward to the return of the sun tomorrow and over the weekend. As I'm writing my precious boy is curled up on his lamb's wool cushion taking his after lunch nap. Still have the lunch dishes to do and need to make a trek to the mailbox after awhile. I hope today is treating you kindly at work, my friend, and that your travels home this evening will be safe and expedient so that you and your precious Theresa and little Tang can have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I hope you are spared the worst of the winter weather. You did say you are good on provisions until after the weekend? If not, I hope you can get out for more. Got 30 more minutes of OT for IVR testing for a total of 3 hours for the week. But it still never seems to be enough (sigh) Tomorrow I must leave at 5:30 so I can go to the bank to get the money order for my rent/late fees. It never seems to get any better. Late fees, extensions, payment arrangements. It's too depessing to think about. Well, I'm getting ready to head out and catch the last express bus of the day downtown to make my other bus home to my fur kids. I hope you and Noah had a great day and have a peaceful blessed eveing. TTFN TTT -------------------- Nature's first green is gold

Hi, Tracy, sunny snow covered Friday evening greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious companions doing well and in good spirits.
I hope your travels home yesterday were uneventful with the weather that was traveling across the nation, and hope your travels to work this morning were smooth. Today has been busy shoveling from the ice dam at the street from the snowplows, and clearning areas where the sun doesn't reach this time of year on the driveway. It was a heavy wet snow, and thankfully there are no major power outages in the immediate area. Was glad to get my shower afterward and Noah and I have been enjoying a lazy afternoon. Noah has enjoyed the sunbeams today, and is at the moment snuggled on his lamb's wool cushion taking a nap as I'm writing to you. Still have the lunch dishes to do, so guess I better get busy. I hope today is treating you kindly at work, my friend, and that your travels home this evening will be safe and expedient so that you and your precious Theresa and little Tang can have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. The good news is that you and your precious companions have the entire weekend together!! I'm glad you were spared the worst of the winter weather and that you did not suffer a power outage. I also hope your shoveling was not too taxing. My travels home last night were, in a word, interesting. The weather was not bad but the later bus I took was a little late and the driver was a lunatic. Yelling, cursing, singing at the top of his lungs, and at one point even spitting out the window. I half expected him to light up a cigarette. I'm glad I won't be a regular on that one. Tonight's trip home was OK as well. I got to the bank and the teller gave a me a free cashier's check rather than having to spend 5.00 on a money order. A small savings but a victory none the less. Every little bit helps. Afterward I had plenty of time to get to my regular bus stop to head home. Both of them were a little late but not by too much. The kittles were happy to see me and more excited than usual. I guess they know TGIF is Caturday Eve. When we can all sleep in and snuggle. They have been fed and otherwise tended to. Now I will proceed to finsih tidying up and settle in. I hope you and Noah had a wonderful day and and even better evening. TTFN TTT -------------------- Nature's first green is gold

Hi, Tracy, sunny, melting Caturday afternoon greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious companions doing well and in good spirits.
So glad you were able to get home in a timely fashion - - that always is helpful. If you had any errands to do today, I hope you have been able to get them done so that you are able to enjoy most of this day with your precious Theresa and little Tang. At my age it doesn't take much activity to weary the body, but I am thankful for what I am able to do. The goal is to pace the activity with the energy levels available. The temperature here today has been pleasant - - in the upper 40's with the bright sunshine, so melting of the snow pack continues. Two days in a row of bright sunshine is quite a bonus compared to the stretch of cloudy, rainy, foggy, gloomy weather we had previously in the week leading up to Thursday nights snow event. Was able to reconcile the bank statement to the checkbook this morning without too much of a challenge, and now next week I can begin the February "bill-a-thon". Also got my figures for 2012 expenses itemized so that when I do receive my W2 and 1099 for income I can finalize the package of receipts and make an appointment with my tax preparer. Noah has had his lunch and is now snuggled into his lamb's wool cushion taking his afternoon nap as I'm writing to you. Still have the lunch dishes to do and a trek to the mailbox in an hour or so. I'm so glad the daylight is lasting a little bit longer each evening now. Just 8.5 weeks now until the calendar says it's spring. I hope today is treating you and your precious Theresa and little Tang kindly, my friend, and that you and your precious companions will have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. Glad you had some decent weather. It was pretty nice here too. Sunny and got up to 55. I must have been very tired from the week because I didn't get up until almost 11:00; with Theresa and Tang both in the bed. It was nice. I didn't have much to do errand wise, but with the late hour didn't get home until about 1:45. Pretty much a lazy day (what was left of it) afterward. Getting ready to clean Tang's ear and put out the can food, etc. I hope you and Noah had a nice Caturday and a peaceful and pleasant evening. Hi, Tracy, sending sunny windy Sunday morning greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious companions doing well and in good spirits.
So glad you were able to sleep in yesterday with your precious furkids cuddled next to you. Sometimes you just need to let your body totally relax, and sleep is one of Nature's ways to naturally replenish the energy levels. By now you have your laundry done, and are hopefully enjoying this day with your precious companions. Since Sundays are always low key here there isnt' much happening in the way of activity. The sun is shining bright and cheerful, so Noah is on his bathroom window perch thoroughly enjoying the warm sunbeams as I'm writing to you. I hope today is treating you and your precious Theresa and little Tang kindly, my friend, and that you and your precious companions will have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious Theresa and little Tang. Glad to hear you and Noah are doing well on this Sunday; a sunny but a cool one here. Laundry was thankfully uneventful. It's been a lazy day here with the kittles. Just been bagged out on the couch watching the Ultimate Guide to the Presidents on History Channel. I like to watch educational and informative TV at home since at work all they want to watch is sports and Fox News. Once I even put it on the History Channel when I went to lunch and was clearly watching it when some jerk came in and changed it to Fox News. I guess some folks love their hateful vitriol. Anyway, not much going on here either. Getting ready to take care of the kittles and settle in. I hope you and Noah have a peaceful and joyous evening. Hi, Tracy, sunny, chilly Monday afternoon greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious companions doing well and in good spirits.
So glad you and your precious fur tribe were able to enjoy a pleasant day yesterday. I remember all too well while I was employed how quickly the weekends would go by. When I got back into the office on Monday mornings it would feel like I had never left. Today was errand day - - and I'm so glad I have that done for awhile now. Thankfully I was able to get a very early start - - left the house around 8:20. First stop was at the pharmacy to pick up some items that are better priced there than at Kroger, and then skipped over to Kroger across the street (via the car) to restock the larder. The shelves were in the process of being restocked on some items, but I was able to get everything on my list, and was blessed with being able to get checked out without having to wait in a long line. Total time out was about 2 hours. I had a full grocery cart, so I came directly inside into the basement living quarters. My precious Noah was at the big door to greet me, and kept me company as I unloaded the bags and put everything away. At the moment he is now on his bathroom window perch enjoying the bright sunbeams as I'm writing to you. Since today is a holiday there won't be any mail. However, as I was shopping in both the pharmacy and Kroger I heard on the store PA system that the cost of stamps is going up again this coming Sunday, 1/27. I am so glad I pay most of my bills online now. I'm wondering if your bus schedule today is operating on a holiday schedule. Soon it will be time to start getting some lunch on the stove warming, so will get this posted to you. I hope today is treating you kindly at work, my friend, and that your travels home this evening will be safe and expedient so that you and your precious Theresa and little Tang can have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious Theresa and little Tang. A very cold, windy, but sunny Monday to you. I'm glad you got your running done with no delays and home to your precious Noah. I had heard that postage was going up, as well as a lot of job cuts. It's really sad. We were notified we no longer have a regular carrier and have noticed my Netflix are coming and going a lot slower. It's a good thing there are at least a few shows I watch regulary to fill the gap. Today was slow I guess due to the holiday. Perhaps they all assumed we were closed. I'll take it, but I'm sure tomorrow will be busy ![]() TTT -------------------- Nature's first green is gold

Hi, Tracy, sunny very cold Tuesday afternoon greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious companions doing well and in reasonably good spirits.
Congratulations on your mid-month review - - I am sooo hoping that you will soon be offered a permanent position. I know this would take a lot of concern off your mind. Keep up the good work, my friend - - I know receiving these good evaluations helps you feel like you're on the right track. So glad your travels yesterday were on regular bus schedule - - I know this helps make your round trip journey easier. I'm sorry about your location losing your regular postal carrier. The postal service is having problems trying to convince our elected officials that they cannot continue "business as usual" as in previous years. Even though the postal service is operated through a private contractor, it still needs Congressional approval to make changes in deliveries, closing offices, relocating employees, etc. -- and we all know what a challenge this can be getting any decisions from our elected officials. Have just finished the monthly bill-a-thon for February, and have the checks written for the payments I cannot make online ready to mail on Thursday - - I hope. The weather report so far is that Thursday morning should be dry driving, and the post office is only 10 minutes away. So this will be a quick errand which will include getting more stamps. Looks like it's time to start getting some lunch on the stove. I know you still have a few hours to go yet until you can begin your trek home to your precious companions. Please know you and your precious companions are in my thoughts and prayers, that I always look forward to knowing how you and your precious fur tribe are doing, and to sharing your treasured memories of your beloved Sir Thomas. A very cold and windy Tuesday greeting to you as well. We got all the way up to 21 today with wind chills in the teens, brrr. I hope your errands tomorrow go well without incident. It's good that you will get your stamps before they go up again. I can't remember the last time I actually had to mail anything that was not pre-paid postage. Today was busy as I expected after a Monday holiday; in fact we stayed in queue most of the day (ugh) Tonight is another after hours meeting for which I have a ride home. I was going to at least get paid some OT before hand for more testing, but at the last minute that fell through (sigh) So now, not only do I have to hang out until 8:00, I'm not getting paid for it ![]() TTT -------------------- Nature's first green is gold

Hi, Tracy, cold sunny Wednesday afternoon greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious companions doing well and in good spirits.
I hope the meeting last night did not last the entire scheduled time - - that you were able to get home sooner to your precious Theresa and little Tang sooner than anticipated. Of course they understand what you say to them, my friend, so it is no surprise to me when you share with us: " I did make sure Theresa and Tang knew this was a "late" day for which they seemed a bit blue." I can imagine from personal experience that enduring a very late day at work makes getting up the next day to go through the work ritual again very exhausting. I'm sorry you were denied the opportunity to follow through with expected OT -- I know how this would have helped you come pay day. Life here is chilly today - - very chilly. Since we have had some good moisture from last week's rain and snow events, I may put a small fire in the wood stove today. The gusty windy conditions from yesterday have significantly subsided, so I don't think there is a major concern for a wild spark igniting a brush fire. Noah is doing well. He is enjoying the sunbeams on his bathroom window perch as I'm writing to you. Soon it will be time to start getting some lunch ready. I hope you will have a pleasant time with your lunch break today, and that the afternoon will go quickly for you. Please know you and your precious companions are in my thoughts and prayers, that I always look forward to knowing how you and your precious fur tribe are doing, and to sharing your treasured memories of your beloved Sir Thomas. Thank you moon_beam
The meeting wrapped at 9:00, but my ride didn't leave until 9:20, getting me home at about 9:45; the kittles waiting diligently at the door. I got about 5 hours of sleep, but didn't feel as ragged as I thought I would today. It got up to 35 today which is as warm as it will get until Saturday apparently. Not too busy here today which is nice. I'm glad to hear Noah is doing well. I'm sure he likes having you around more as much as you enjoy the additional time with him. Not much going on here. Getting ready to head home to the fur kids. Lately I've been keeping warm waiting on my second bus home by taking the skyway off the convention center to go to one of the major hotels they link to. I don't know why I didn't think of it before. I hope you and your precious Noah had a wonderful day and and even better evening. TTFN TTT -------------------- Nature's first green is gold

Hi, Tracy, sunny very chilly and blustery Thursday afternoon greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds each of you doing well and in good spirits. It is always a blessing logging in and sharing your news.
So glad yesterday was not rough for you after a very long day at work Tuesday. I know how much of a blessing it is for you coming home to the enthusiastic greeting of your precious furkids. I'm also very glad you have found a way to keep warm as you wait for your second bus home. Perhaps this will also be of benefit come the summer as a way to keep cool. Got the errand to the post office done this morning - - took a half hour total with most of the time in the post office. Got 40 stamps as opposed to my usual purchase of 20 which should last me about 4, maybe 5, months. Yesterday afternoon and evening I put a fire in the wood stove, and it was so nice and toasty warm. I was able to turn off one of the space heaters and turn the other one on low to have on during the night after the fire finally went out in the stove. We're supposed to have some really nasty freezing rain sleet mushy snow come through the area tomorrow and through Friday night, so I want to bring a stash of wood up to the big basement door to have for the stove. I will do that project this afternoon. Noah is curled up on his lamb's wool cushion taking a nap before lunch. By now you have had your lunch, or will be soon if you take a "late" lunch. Thank you moon_beam
Cold and sunny Thursday greetings to you. I do actaully have a late lunch and break (break 12:00, lunch 2:00) which make the start of my day seem long, but the last part not so much. I'm glad that burning wood in the stove will allow you to hopefully save on your energy bill. I hope you are able to get enough fire wood. It's supposed to snow some here tomorrow, but I'm hoping it won't be too bad. One more day to go before Caturday. Not much going on here, and getting ready to head out on my journey home to my fur kids. I hope you and Noah had a wonderful day and that your evening is toasty warm and pleasant.
