Thank you moon_beam
I suppose what I am willing to do for my fur kids is test of character, I only wish I could do more. Of course Tang's ear has looked better over the past couple of days when I go ahead and schedule an appointment. Well, at least he has not been scratching it bloody anyway. But, we are still going in the morning. And you are right, he is a little trooper my Sgt. Tang. He really does endure it all with quiet dignity. Well, at least until the can food. Then he dances and chatters like a bug ![]() ![]() I will let you know how it goes. I hope we can do something within my budget. But, I suppose compromising is better than doing nothing, and most people would (sigh) I hope that you and Noah are well and have a wonderful, blissful evening. Well, we are back from the vet. The Dr. said his ear was inflamed and that's probably why he's scratching. He said to clean and use Tresiderm drops 2X daily which I already am; and he gave the OK to pick up more tresiderm as needed w/o having to bring Tang in. Additioanly he gave me a tripple action ointment that contains a steroid that should control the inflamation and any itching/irritability. While there I upped his plan to the special care which ups our over all discout from 20% to 25% on certain procedures and all meds. Let's hope this helps.

Hi, Tracy, greetings to you, your precious Theresa and little Tang from Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious furkids doing well and in good spirits. I'm so glad the doctor was able to give you more guidance and additional meds for your little Tang's ear, and am hoping, as you are, that the additional meds will give your precious little boy some much needed relief. I hope this is the last trip your precious little boy will need to make to his doctor for awhile. Please let us know how the meds work for him.
I know what you mean when you share with us "There is nobody I can talk to about it in real life; only here. I get so tired of 'it's just a cat', and 'get another one.' And people wonder why I'm not social." Generally speaking, I am finding it more and more difficult to talk to people who are truly clueless about the bond that is developed between our companions and us. I feel a very real kindred spirit here because the people who come to this forum share very similar feelings of love and commitment to their furkids. Thank you so much for sharing your precious Theresa and little Tang with us, Tracy - - and always your beloved Sir Thomas. Have been doing some bill paying this morning. Tomorrow will be my errand day as I will need to go into town to the vet's office to pick up more dry food for my precious Noah. Soon it will be time to start fixing some lunch for him and warming some veggies on the stove for me. I hope the rest of today is treating you, your precious Theresa and little Tang kindly, my friend, and that you and your precious furkids will have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious furkids. Please know you, your precious Theresa and little Tang are in my thoughts and prayers, that I always look forward to sharing your news, and to sharing your treasured memories of your beloved Sir Thomas. Hi Tracy,
Stopping by to say hello to you, little Theresa, and Sgt. Tang. He certainly is a little trooper. I hope the additional meds help. Well, Blackie still hasn't come back, it's been at least a month. We still put the dry cat food out. A little family of raccoons comes by at night sometimes, so cute........Anyway this week a gray and white cat has been coming by after dark to eat. I don't know if it's the same one that used to come by. Tracy, I hope your travels can be more pleasant. I worry about you every time the Louisville news says there has been a shooting, which is almost every day. Anyway, be safe. Give the furbabies a special pat for me. I always think of Sir Thomas too. My Mickey has been gone a year and a half today. God Bless, LoveMyMickey -------------------- "Love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation." |

Thank you moon_beam, I hope your travels go well tomorrow. Thank you LoveMyMickey, I'm still sad to hear that Blackie has not returned and hope he is OK where ever he is. I hope this new cat will take advantage of your kindness.
This is Tang's second visit that I have not been able to get Dr. Harris. Dr. Sai is OK, and nice enough. I'm just not so sure about his over all breadth of knowledge. For example, when I asked about once or twice a day on the liquid antibiotic, he seemed unsure. Then he said twice. Then he went and got a box of the stuff and pointed out it said once for cats. Then said it was OK to do twice given Tang's situation. Know what I mean? Fortunately, today's visit was not of the more critical urgency. I'm hoping the addition of the oinment will provide enough relief that he stops scratching so the worst of it can heal. Been a lazy day over all for the rest of it. My days off go by much too quickly (sigh) Hoping everyone and the fur kids are well. TTFN. TTT -------------------- Nature's first green is gold

Hi, Tracy, sunny Thursday evening greetings to you, your precious Theresa and little Tang from Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious furkids doing well and in good spirits.
I can understand your feelings about Dr. Sai when you share with us "I'm just not so sure about his over all breadth of knowledge. For example, when I asked about once or twice a day on the liquid antibiotic, he seemed unsure. Then he said twice. Then he went and got a box of the stuff and pointed out it said once for cats. Then said it was OK to do twice given Tang's situation." Indecisiveness is not reassuring to the caregiver. The good thing was that he did double check the product recommendations to verify his treatment instructions to you. You can also go online to read the pharmaceutical recommendations for clarification as well. I hope the medications for little Tang's ear will begin to offer some definite relief and improvement. Today I went into the city to do errands. The first stop was at the regional recycling center. I had 10 bags of shredded paper and three bags full of mixed paper to drop off. These items are only accepted at the regional center. Then it was over to the credit union, then the vet's office to pick up Noah's dry food, and then to the post office - - and then home. All in all was gone about 2 hours. When I got back home my precious Noah was at the door eagerly greeting me. I am always glad to get back home to my precious little boy. I know you must be looking at the clock counting the minutes now until you are able to begin your travels home to your precious Theresa and little Tang - - who are eagerly anticipating the familiar sound of your footsteps in the hall, the click of the key in the lock, and - - and the exuberant greeting that daddy's home. I hope your travels will be safe and expedient so that you and your precious furkids can have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious furkids. Please know you, your precious Theresa and little Tang are in my thoughts and prayers, that I always look forward to sharing your news, and to sharing your treasured memories of your beloved Sir Thomas. Sounds like you had a busy day. I'm sure Noah was glad to see you when you got home. Yes, indecisiveness is not good for a Vet. I too am hoping the additional meds will help. It didn't help that he scratched it bloody right after I put the ointment in last night (sigh) I cleaned it immediately, of course. I'm hoping he gets accustomed to the meds and can start to heal (as much as he can) I'm getting ready to head home to them now, and am looking forward to a hopefully peaceful evening. I hope you and Noah do the same. TTFN TTT -------------------- Nature's first green is gold

Hi, Tracy, good evening greetings to you, your precious Theresa and little Tang from Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious furkids doing well and in good spirits. Soon you will be homeward bound to your precious fur tribe, and hope your travels will be safe and expedient.
I have been wondering how things went last week when you returned to work on Thursday from being out with the GI upset. Hope your supervisor was not hostile toward you. I'm wondering if you will have to work on Monday - - Labor Day. Poor little Tang - - that ear is just causing all kinds of fretting. I'm wondering if a mild tranquilizer might be helpful - - to help calm the brain waves that urge him to scratch. Sometimes the brain gets "locked in" to a particular sensation and the urge to scratch continues even when there isn't a need to. This is seen with companions who have allergic "hot spots". Don't know if this would be appropriate with his diabetes - - but it's something you might want to think about - - perhaps - - and if you think it noteworthy perhaps discuss with his doctor should he continue to scratch at his ear despite the medications. I do hope that his ear quiets down so that both your precious little Tang - - and you - - can get some relief. Please let us know how things go. Today has been a quiet one here. I usually need a quiet day or two to recuperate after errand day. Noah is doing well. He is stretched out next to me taking a pre-dinner nap as I'm writing to you. I hope today is treating you kindly, my friend, and - - once again - - that your travels home will be safe and expedient so that you and your precious furkids can have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious furkids. Please know you, your precious Theresa and little Tang are in my thoughts and prayers, that I always look forward to sharing your news, and to sharing your treasured memories of your beloved Sir Thomas. No, my sup was not hostile at my being absent as much as the fact I called his office phone rather than cell. But I didn't think he'd appreciate being awoken at 5 AM. Oh well. I don't know yet if I have to work Labor Day, but he said in an email reply I sent asking for it off that he'd come get me if I was scheduled. I applied for 5-8 OT Thursday, don't know if I got it yet. I never thought of a tranquilizer for Tang, but, as you said, not sure about the diabetes; that's why they won't do surgery if the BG is off. It looked much better this morning. Sure it was dirty, but no blood. So, I guess the ointment may be finally kicking in (I hope) Well, about time for another fun filled Caturday of work. I hope I don't have a repeat of last Saturday's ride home as the fair is on thru the weekend. I never did get a reply to my complaint (sigh) I hope you and Noah have a great Caturday! TTFN. Happy Cat-urday, Tom's Dad! It's encouraging that Tang's ear looks a bit better, and I hope he'll continue to improve with the use of the ointment. Hopefully your ride home today will go a lot smoother. Mindy and Shelley are fine and they are having so much fun playing together. I still wish Mindy was more active, but I like the fact that she enjoys sitting on my lap and will sit there for an hour and just go to sleep. Shelley doesn't stay long with me, but she enjoys sitting with me when she does. She often rubs her face against my hand and then licks my hand. Very sweet!

Thank you DannysMom, and happy Caturday to you as well.
I too am hoping Tang will start to see some relief and finally stop all that scratching. Every time I see him start to do it, I either grab his back paw, and/or tell him I'm going to get a "cone" from the vet. The latter tends to stop him. Who says they don't understand what we say ![]() I am hoping the ride home will not the be the horror show it was last week. It's the going home I always dread. Sure coming in is also time consuming, but it's pretty quiet and uneventful. Thanks for sharing your ongoing tales of Mindy and Shelley; it's always a delight. I hope they are both well. Hi, Tracy, greetings to you, your precious Theresa and little Tang from Noah and me on this cloudy Caturday evening. I hope this finds you and your precious fur tribe doing well and in good spirits. If not already you will soon be on your travels home, and hope and pray that they will indeed be safe and expedient - - minus the "wild west" brawling of last week's experience. Perhaps the transit authority received so many complaints from last week's event that they did not respoind to everyone - - or anyone - - but rather focused on taking care of the problem -- one of them being the bus driver. One can hope.
I'm glad your little boy's ear looked better this morning, and like you and DannysMom, hope the new medication added to the arsenal is finally providing some healing relief. IF you were to inquire about a tranquilizer the dosage would not be one to knock him out but merely to subdue the "hyperactivity" in his brain that controls the sensation of itching. And IF a tranquilizer might be helpful, he may not need to be on it long-term - - just long enough to help his ear heal and re-train that sensory part of his brain that it really isn't necessary to scratch his ear. But this is NOT something you need to rush into - - not by any stretch of the imagination. I merely mentioned it as a "possibility" - - a potential piece to the ongoing puzzle of what might help your precious boy. This is definitely something you will need to discuss with his veterinary practitioner if / when you think it is worthwhile. Today has been computer day. The time just whizzes by when I'm on the computer. I need to make a trek to the mailbox to get whatever mail has been delivered yesterday and today, and still need to do the lunch dishes. Then it will be almost time to get my precious Noah his dinner. I hope today has treated you kindly at work, my friend, and - - once again - - that your travels home will be safe and expedient so that you and your precious furkids can have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious furkids. Please know you, your precious Theresa and little Tang are in my thoughts and prayers, that I always look forward to sharing your news, and to sharing your treasured memories of your beloved Sir Thomas. Well, looks like Tang's "streak" was over this morning. Although it was not near as bad as it has been. Let's hope that the combination of meds can stem the tide for him. Last night's trip home was crowded as in SRO until we got to the fair grounds, but nowhere near as bad as last week. This driver zipped right along and announced loudly "FAIR GROUNDS, GATE 6!" As in "Get off my bus punks" Much better. Three girls standing by me in the back were blythly discussing how they were going to pick people's pockets when they got there (glad I put my wallet in my front pocket upon boarding). And they had their pants riding literally below the cheeks of their rear ends; bad enough the boys doing that (sigh) I'm sure their parent were too busy getting high to care where they were and what they were doing. Doing laundry now and looking forward to a peaceful Sunday with my kittles. I hope that you and Noah are doing well. TTFN TTT -------------------- Nature's first green is gold

Hi, Tracy, good Sunday evening greetings to you, your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious furkids doing well and in good spirits - - enjoying a lazy Sunday.
So glad you survived your travels home yesterday without any brawls to contend with. Yes, when traveling in public it is always wise to keep the wallet out of easy reach as best as possible. Progress however small it may be is still progress, - - and so it is with your precious Tang's ear as you share with us "Although it was not near as bad as it has been." I add my sincerest wishes to yours, Tracy, that the combination of meds will help soothe and heal his ear. Today has been a quiet one. We had clouds and light rain for most of the day. At this writing the sun is shining for the first time today which helps to chase the gloomies away. Noah is upstairs at the moment enjoying some quality private time before dinner, and I am enjoying watching a few programs on Hulu Plus. I hope today is treating you and your precious Theresa and little Tang kindly, my friend, and that you and your precious furkids will have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious furkids. Please know you, your precious Theresa and little Tang are in my thoughts and prayers, that I always look forward to sharing your news, and to sharing your treasured memories of your beloved Sir Thomas. Yes, even small progress is still progress and I'll take it. He's a trooper. I woke up from a nap just a bit ago and he was all on my chest kneeding and nuzzling. At one point he was kneeding my chin and I had to stop him as the claws hurt. He does this cute thing where he will reach out with one paw, then curl it up to his chest. Kind of like the pointer hunting dogs. I always said Tom was part dog, perhaps Tang is too. Been a lazy day here as well. No rain, just hot. Looks like those cool August days we were having are over. Both Tang and Theresa are running around under foot reminding me it's time for dinner, etc. I hope you and Noah are well and have a pleasant evening. TTFN. Hi, Tracy, greetings to you and your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me on this sunny warm Monday afternoon. I hope this finds each of you doing well and in good spirits - - that your day at work is going okay.
How very sweet about your precious Tang;s mannerism "He does this cute thing where he will reach out with one paw, then curl it up to his chest." It's almost as if he is "signing" to you to let you know that he is holding your love for him in his heart. My heart is soooo happy that you have the blessing of your precious Theresa and little Tang to bring joy to your heart and life, Tracy. Today has been busy paying bills online and getting payments logged into the monthly ledger. Noah has been keeping me faithful company most of the day. At the moment he is upstairs enjoying some quality private time and the sunbeams that are now coming in through the front windows. Once again, my friend, I hope today is going well for you at work, and that your travels home will be safe and expedient so that you and your precious furkids can enjoy a peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious furkids. I had not thought about his mannerisms in the way you described; but it truly fits. It totally warms my heart. He is so sweet and intelligent. He always lets me know he's glad I'm his dad, as does Theresa. Grtting ready to head on home to them now. I hope you and Noah had a great day together, and an even better evening. TTFN. Hi, Tracy, cloudy Tuesday evening greetings to you, your precious Theresa and little Tang from Noah and me. I hope this finds you and your precious furkids doing well and in good spirits. Soon it will be time for you to begin your travels home, and I hope they will be safe and expedient.
Tomorrow is your day off, and I'm hoping you and your precious Tang will be able to enjoy it with your precious Theresa - - minus what has recently become the weekly visit to the vet. It's just nice to have a change of pace for both you and your little boy. Aside from his ear, will he need to go back soon for a check up with his diabetes? Or do you have that no pretty much under control with his insulin? I hope you are being able to get his insulin okay. Not much going on here today. Need to wash the lunches and go get the mail from the mailbox. Looks like the Gulf Coast region is due for another major soaking from Hurricane Isaac - - sure hope they don't have to endure damage again like what happened with Katrina. I hope today is treating you, your precious Theresa and little Tang kindly, my friend, and that you and your precious furkids will have a peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious furkids. Please know you, your precious Theresa and little Tang are in my thoughts and prayers, that I always look forward to sharing your news, and to sharing your treasured memories of your beloved Sir Thomas. My heart also goes out to the folks and their animal companions in the gulf coast. The stories I heard about what so called "shelters" were doing to the animals after Katrina was most disturbing. No, there are no vet appointments for either of my kittles tomorrow. But I have to head out that way anyway as I'm nearly out of Tresiderm and RX dry food (sigh) But at least I can take the bus up there. I will make sure to stock up so that perhaps next Wednesday I can sleep in and only go as far as the Save-a-Lot. Work was the usual grind. After being told essentially "no" to being off Labor Day, I see that the guy from my class who snagged the M-F hours has it off! (on the home web site) And he only asked about it yesterday! I asked on the 6th. I sent an email asking why, but I'm not holding my breath. It's starting to look like this job will do for now, but I don't think it's for me long term. I just don't see myself dealing with his "I am the only perfect being here" arrogance for the long haul. I believe you are right in that I need to keep my options open so that I can move on when it's time on my terms. I suppose things could change, but I'm not counting on it. Plus, I have no desire to deal with that 24-7 on call for a week rotation nonsense. I guess I was hoping it would change under TWC, but no indications so far. Tang's ear looked OK again tonight; no scratching. Dirty yes, but no blood. I think the ointment is working out after all. Plus Theresa comes to "tattle" when he starts to scratch, it's almost funny. I have taken to mimicing his "signing" and telling him I hold him in my heart too. And he does it right back! So nice. BTW, Tang is doing well on the insulin; same dosage. In a few weeks or so, I'm gong to start asking about the surgey again if his BG is OK. That's all for now. I hope you and Noah have a pleasant evening. Hi, Tracy, good evening greetings to you, your precious Theresa and little Tang from my precious Noah and me. I hope this finds each of you doing well and in good spirits. Hope you were able to get your errands done early so that you and your precious furkids could enjoy most of the day together.
Glad to know little Tang's ear is showing signs of improvement. I know this makes the both of you feel much better. Our furkids DO understand sign language, - - and how wonderful you and your little Tang are discovering this communication. I am so chuckling about your little girl letting you know when her brother is fussing at his ear. She knows what's going on and that little Tang needs help with his ear - - particularly when it's annoying the heck out of him. I can just hear her, "daddy, Tang is scratching at his ear something fierce. I think you need to take a look at it." And I'm glad to know that he's doing well on his insulin. That's always encouraging. Sure wish you could take a couple of days off when Tang has his surgery so that you could be home with him - - perhaps have his surgery on a Tuesday so that you could at least be home with him all day your Wednesday day off?? My frieind, I am truly sorry this job is not turning out to be a "good" fit for you long term, BUT I am glad you have it for now - - and are going to start keeping your options opened for hopefully something better. You are in a position now where you can be more choosey about your applications and where jobs are located according to your transportation. I hope you will be able to find a job that will offer you employment and financial stability, and be in a positive atmosphere for you. Perhaps something positive will come out of the meeting tomorrow evening, but even so - - it will still be good to keep your options opened. Today was errand day - - needed to go the local hardware store to get a couple of bags of small landscape stone to fill in a few places along the foundation, and stopped by Kroger to pick up some extra veggies so that I don't have to go out next week - - hopefully, since Monday's a holiday and the generator will be installed on Thursday. I'm sorry you did not get Monday off, Tracy. How will your bus connections be that day - - the same as it is on Saturday? Once again, my friend, I hope today is treating you, your precious Theresa and little Tang kindly, and that you and your precious furkids will have a very peaceful, blissful, and cozy evening. I thank you for the blessing of your friendship, Tracy, and of your precious furkids. Please know you, your precious Theresa and little Tang are in my thoughts and prayers, that I always look forward to sharing your news, and to sharing your treasured memories of your beloved Sir Thomas. Peace and blessings, moon_beam -------------------- In heaven's perfect garden there is no grief or pain, and all of God's creation join the angels' sweet refrain.
The most blessed way I have of knowing God's comforting love and grace is to look into the eyes and heart of God's creatures' sweet angelic face. |
