I thought I'd share this with you guys
Yesterday dad said to my twin "Cat, let's go to the store" and the next thing I knew, my sister was holding a baby Tabby cat and walking down the stairs! They had gone to the animal shelter! We didn't know what to name her ( her first name was Zeeb, but we didn't like that.) then we named her Tohru (after Tohru Honda from the nationality anime show Frutis Basket) and then Dad just started calling her "Ralph." I thought of a perfect name= Tabetha!

I still feel bad though... since Middy died not too long ago....

Trixie and Dinah are mad, and Trixie's just mad that she's not the baby anymore.

Should I feel bad about getting a new kitty???

heres some pics of me and our new kitty

I think it's a personal decision about the timing of getting another friend. I don't think it's wrong to give your new baby the love you have. It doesn't change your relationship with Middy and how you feel about her death. It does help sometimes to ease the pain some by caring for another. If you bring each other happiness it has to be the right thing to do. I wish you good times and lots of smiles with your new Tohru. Pat

no you shouldnt feel bad. I have been debating whether or not to get one for my other cat Loki. Personally I am not ready for another cat so soon, but it pains me to watch him all by himself. It really is a personal desision. And like Pat said, sometimes it helps having something else to care for and will help ease your pain. I remember when I was younger my parents went out to the pound and adopted a cat we named Missy two days after the family cat Tweety died. I was very resentful towards the cat. I was hurt over Tweety's death and it was too soon for that void to be filled. I think I was 10. It took me some time to warm up to the cat and then eventually she became MY cat. she was my little shadow. Everyone is different, and if you think the time is right, then open your heart and accept the love.

Good Luck!
Cynthia

Hi Noriko--

Thank you so much for visiting us and bringing us such happy news! Gracie has obviously been totally at home for a long time now, and you have also adopted a small horse--how exciting!

I think this post of your's will be very valuable to others here who are considering whether or not to get a new pet soon after the loss of a beloved. Your perspective is a wonderful addition to this Forum, and I thank you again. Enjoy all your fur-kids!

Big hugs from Margi and Spiritwolf

P.S. You're gorgeous!!!

Noriko,

Good for you for moving past your guilt and moving on in life, getting two new additions to your family, and showing us it's alright to love again. I'll look forward to pics of your St. Bernard.

Dennis
