Dear Brutus,

Day after Christmas and again, we talked about how much you loved to unwrap everyone's presents. Tanga and Radar just don't care much about opening presents, although Radar likes to protect them...do you remember we called him the Present Protector? He definately still is. He is starting to decline alittle as you probably know, licking his paws like you use to do from arthritis. I have started him on glucosamine. One day he will be joining you, but I don't think anytime soon. Radar hasn't forgotten you either because when we say your name his ears perk up and he stares at us, he knows we are talking about you.

We still miss you so much, especially me...I still have a good cry every now and then, I don't think that will ever go away...sometimes I just need to do it. I just finished a book today and two of the main characters remind me so much of me and you...the book was "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle", and in the end the main character, Edgar, died and his dog, Almondine, who died a few days prior, met him and helped him cross over. That will be us one day, I just know it...you will come for me to help me. Of course, I'm not in any hurry as I have lots to do here yet, so I know you will wait patiently...so until I come, find all the good rivers and lakes so we can go fishing. I miss you my sweet boy.

(for anyone who likes to read..."The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" is by David Wroblewski and the whole story revolves around a family and thier dogs that they breed, mainly Edgar who is a mute and his service/companion dog, it is an excellent book)

Dear Poohman...still miss you so much. I have never stopped thinking about you even though I haven't posted on your thread in a while. But...here we are Superbowl Eve. Dear Anna posted some pics on facebook that really got me thinking about you. I have talked about this pic I am about to post right here on this thread but I never posted the pic, I could not find it. I found it about 2 months ago up on Dr. Kline's bulletin board (Brutus' Vet)...I have had it ever since in the cedar chest...not sure why I didn't put it in the photo album, but I didn't...I suppose I knew I would need it soon. Excuse the pin marks in the photo...apparently it was moved around alot in the past 12 years on the vet's bulletin board.

Your were so pretty, this was taken in 7/98 you were only 1 yr, 8 months old...always the Steeler fan.

I know you are up on the bridge right now, watching down, in your Steeler shirt...love you Brutus.

(I'm not crying because it's over, I am smiling because it happened, what a joy you were to our lives, we were soooo lucky!)

Can't root for the Steelers with you and we are Ravens fans but I can offer support on the loss of that amazing looking Brutus. What a picture. If I ever figure out how to post a pic here I will post one of Zoe, although, she would never pose and we don't have very good pics of her.

Merry Christmas Poohman....I know there is snow in heaven because you loved it so much. This is the first Christmas I remember in years that there hasn't been snow. The highlight of our Christmas' was always watching you open your presents and try to open everyone else's. Your ornament still hangs on our tree and always will. Miss you tons buddy.

I am so sorry for your loss. We lost our beloved Weim four years ago and I don't think its something that you every truly get over. My brother in law just said goodbye to his Weim, Elvis, last week and is still reeling from the pain. My husband and I bought pendants with the image of Elvis and my niece Cami on them and have set them aside to give to my brother in law and his wife for Christmas from their daughter. I hope that time has eased some of your grief!

What a loving gift missingmygranny, your brother in law and wife are going to love that. Time does heal, of course the heart never forgets. I am sorry for your loss of your weim. I never thought at the time of losing Brutus that I would ever be able to go on....but life does, it's a hard journey but eventually you look back and smile (cry sometimes too, which is ok). <hugs>
