Jay,
Thank you so much for writing to me. Your advice is so right on. I've decided to go ahead and adopt the two little puppies. They are sisters and we pick them up next Friday. They aren't Sammie but I'm sure they will remind me of her and that's ok. I don't want to forget her and never will. She is a HUGE part of me. I'm nervous again but I'm going to let my heart love again because the 3 1/2 years with Sammie were the best of my life and it was b/c of her. I want that love around me again and so does my family. I wish you well in your decision to find a new kitty. The right one is there. You'll find your baby soon. God Bless.
Melanie

melanie!!! you made me cry. i am so happy for you! and i really do think this is going to be great for you. i know sammie is beyond thrilled for you. when you get sad, remember that you will always be sammies momma. that never changes ok? i am thrilled for you. loving that you are going to hang out with friends this weekend. im just beyond happy for you. for the first time in a long time im speechless. sweet sophie and sadie (names to change possibly wink.gif. they have no idea what a wonderful place they will have to call home and how lucky they will be to have you as a mom.

i love that youre going to thank everyone. take a deep breath. it wont be easy. i did the same. we have a fantastic bakery called portos that is amazing and i brought them over a big fruit tart to thank them for loving my fred as much as i did. they talked to him, pet him, gave him kisses when momma couldnt be there. they truly are our heroes arent they? i cant imagine how hard it is for them not to get emotionally attached to every single animal that goes thru there, yet the love they have for our furry creatures....its ok to cry when youre there, i did.
please do post pictures. theres a great section here called new beginnings. i love that its a completely different part of this site where i can "hear" the sniffles drying up and the smiles returning. i have a section too where you can see pictures of little lucy. it would be awesome if you started a new begining too where you can post your new happiness and i can "hear" you laugh. you are going to have such wonderful new adventures with your new ones.

mostly, im sure sammie is upstairs where her maker is giving her a giant squeeze as they watch you walk thru petco. job well done he is telling her as sammie beams from ear to ear. she is so happy for you my friend, as am i.

huge huge bear hug from lucy and me. and a lick up the nose that only lucy can give wink.gif
cant wait to see the pix.

Sammie Girl'

I am so excited for you!! We all come here racked with grief and it's so great to hear how all of us are improving and healing. I can't wait see photos of Sammie as well as the new girls. Thank you by the way for what you said about Max. I loved that his markings looked like 2 hearts but I never thought of it the way that you did. You words have made him even more special for me! I'm picking him up Sunday and I am a little nervous since it's been 8 years since we had a puppy in the house. Life should soon be very interesting for both of us. Please keep writing and letting us know how things are going for you.. And thanks once agaiin to everyone else who has had such kind supportive words for me since I joined this site. HUGS to all us who are grieving and/or are on the long road to healing. Just remember, we may find new furbabies to love, but it will NEVER diminish the love we have for those who have left us way too soon.
