For those of you who may not be aware of this other form of alternative therapy for our animal companions, this is a brief description of one such practitioner's Cranial Sacral modality and the types of conditions and circu*mstances in which it could be of benefit, including when they are injured, ill, traumatized or even while dying, as part of a hospice care plan.
I've had one session of Cranial Sacral therapy myself (won a draw for massage therapies) and absolutely loved it. Extremely relaxing and gentle, as promised, and even just one trtmnt. helped me feel a bit 'lighter'. (the bonus, too, was the practitioner's cat, the same size and shape as my Nissa!!, chose to lay right on top of me through my entire hour-long session, ![]() ![]() As for the Reiki also mentioned on this webpage, I know that, too, is very welcomed by animals, as is the other form of healing work I now do myself (also had my Usui Reiki Level I prior to this and used it for Nissa every day). Just mentioning this so you'll all know I'm familiar with other types of healing work, too. Conscious Crossings/ Pet Therapies Not sure where these particular practitioners are, but both of these modalities have many practitioners in most places in N. America. It is important, however, for their Cranial Sacral training to have come out of the Upledger Insti*tute (the best training), as this woman's does, and also to make sure the practitioner for your FURCHILD has had further training or experience in using it for animals. Reiki, on the other paw, can more easily be transferable to any species, although it still helps if the practitioner either specializes in animal work, or at least has used it to a fair extent with animals before, just so they're aware of some of the different reactions &/or preferences of some species to Reiki energies. -------------------- "I dropped a tear in the ocean. One of the good things that came out of my trip to the vet's with Stephanie and Tris was, I met a 22 year old sheltie. His mother swears by Reiki for him.
and he was exceptionally spry. -------------------- "You in heaven...be aware. When my day comes I will be there. Then open your gates and you will see....on wings you gave, they'll fly to me"

Yes, animals take REALLY well, usually, to many forms of 'energy' work....once again, because they're already closer to Source, which is all about energy, so they're more 'attuned' to it than many N. Amer. humans are nowadays. Nissa got Reiki, both hands-on from me, and remote from her other Reiki practitioner. I found the hands-OFF worked best for her, but that's also something more in common with cats, and more esp. for cats with certain conditions, such as kidney dis-ease. Oftentimes, they find the hands-on a bit too strong for their sensitive natures. I also used acupressure for Nissa, and again, she preferred it hands-off, a couple of inches above her body. But another "if only" for me is that I wish like heck I'd already had the current modality I have now, for HER. It's ALL hands-off, even with in-person work. For all I know, it could have even cured her of her kidney problems and she'd still be with me.....
![]() But you could even tell, physically, when she'd had her distant sessions, as she'd perk right up w/i 1/2hr. or less. So I kept it up for her for all of her 6.5 yrs. after losing her brother, and am glad I did. She got it at least 3x/wk., plus the hands-on from me. In fact, she even got it WHILE she was transitioning, as I'd put a call into her practitioner so she'd know what time to 'send'. I'm sure it helped with her transition and the time beforehand, as it always had, plus, I now know myself that my own work has seemed to help with others transitioning. These modalities are the wave of the future for N. Amer. health care, I still say. They've never stopped, or BEEN stopped, in their own countries of origin. So, not surprised at all about the 22 yr. old sheltie! ![]() Oh, and Nissa's practitioner has written a book now, along with her friend, a former animal behaviorist whom we liased with for expert opinion/advise when our town was trying to implement a really Draconian animal bylaw a number of years ago. You can see their book here. Susan was the one who recommended my own Reiki Master teacher from whom I took my Level I, but frankly, I learned more from Susan herself. -------------------- "I dropped a tear in the ocean. Thank you for that link...I'm going to order that book, as well as some more looking in to the whole thing. Birga is 12 and Amos has Addison's disease( it is so important to manage his stress ).
