Hi,

I've used this site ever since my beloved meg passed away nearly 3 yrs ago, she was my best friend.

I hav recently rescued a Roeghan Ridge back, 2yr old called Luna.

She goes in to be spayed tommorrow and I know this is so trivial compared to some peoples situation, but i'm really worried about anything happening to her.

Anyone who knows about spaying I would appreciate any advice or support on this.

I love her and couldn't bear losing another friend.

All the best
Peter

Hello,
I can't offer any statistics, but all of the animals
i have gotten spayed have turned out great. Well except when I had a cat to pull her own stitches out. Had to take another trip to get re stitched. Other than that been good.
I would also have to say the good out weighs the bad.
So good of you to rescue Luna. There are so many out there that do not get rescued.

Looks like you have a great dog there.

Keep us informed on how it goes.

Hugs to you and Luna

Hi Peter,

I've just said a prayer that Luna will do well tomorrow. After losing my Goliath just a year ago, I can understand the worry you have. My Browser is also being neutered tomorrow and I have placed my faith and trust in God's hands that he will bring him through it safely and back into my loving arms and home.

Please let us know how Luna does Peter. My thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow.

Love and hugs,
Beth

I have gone through the spay process with a number of my canine pals. They all came through with flying colors. They were the size of shepherds and boxers but a couple were puppies in size.

I think one time the vet used dissolving stitches so my girl didn't have to go back to have the stitches out.

The best I can remember is do the best you can not to let them lick the stitches. The vet may provide a cone if necessary. 7 to 10 days all is healed great.

Think positive.... and be sure to give her extra fussing....they all deserve that anyway.

Let us know how she is doing. Also ask the vet any questions you can think of..that will ease your mind afterward.

I can't remember if mine stayed the night. Usually I do that so they are watched very closely the first 24 hours...just makes me feel better.

Best wishes and a Kiss and hug to Luna.

Judy

Thank you for your messages.

I'm pleased to say Luna is on her way home with a big lamp shade on her head!!

She's grumpy but has made it through!!

I remember that big "lamp shade" very well. They do fine with it and it will keep them from licking at the stitches. They manage to eat okay with it. And once that 7 or 10 day time frame is over...the "lamp shade" comes off permanently...they like that.

Good news....I knew she would be okay...thanks for the update saying so.

Lots of hugs, kisses, and treats now.....

Judy
