At approximately 0700 BST on August 1, 2008, our beautiful Bedlington terrier, Foggy, aged just 7, entered our enclosed garden and began his daily ritual of exploring, relieving himself and preparing for a longer walk before breakfast. Minutes later, at around 0710, he screamed after being shot in his flank.

He leaves behind Kookie, another Bedlington (aged an impressive 15), his two owners, Sue and Simon, and their two sons, Andrew and Paul. As everyone will attest, he was an extremely affectionate and playful character who brought immense joy to those around him. We were so fortunate to have him in our lives.

We know that he was shot with a precision air rifle. The sharpened vermin pellet punctured his heart. He died within 20 minutes on the way to the local veterinary surgery. Worst of all, he suffered greatly and died in Sues arms as Simon desperately tried to reach the surgery in time. Needless to say, they will never fully recover from this traumatic experience. The family has been stripped of a core emotional asset; indeed, Foggy was an integral part of the family unit, who brought boundless joy, healing and companionship to all its members.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. How cruel and senseless. I hope this was not an intentional act. You and your family have gone to great lenghts to preserve Foggy's memory. Such a beautiful dog. I hope you find the justice you so deserve. I hope the gun law you are looking for passes, for the sake of many. Foggy is watching and is very proud of the family, I'm sure..Hugs..Ann

I am sorry about Foggy. This is the type of story my husband cuts out of our paper so I don't read it and have nightmares about the cruelty of it all.

Usually it is a loose pet it happens to. To have your baby in your own yard.....

It is so horrible an act...I don't have any words...except to say I am so very very sorry...

These are the acts I pray that Karma really does happen, only I wish we could be there to see it...with people like this.

So very sorry to hear about poor Froggy. No loving animal deserves that.

I hope you find the sick @#% that did it.

Oh, your site for Monkey is just wonderful, I am sure she would be so pleased. God, it is so hard to think of all of the wonderful, special, cute, quirky things that they do. I loved your stories about her! I had a cat that died of cancer 2.5 years ago, his name was "Jet" (Jet-boy: The most Exquisite, Cute and Perfect Cat). I had him since he was a kitten and he was 16 when he died. We had some really sweet routines. Every night I would run upstairs and he would race me up to bed. And then he would curl up under my arm and just stay there. So lovely. He was my soulmate, no question he was a piece of my soul. I still miss him. And now Elliott is gone, died a week ago......I'm so sorry for your pain, I truly am. And I got to smile (wistfully, but a smile nonetheless) reading your site. I know that feeling, that sense that one in particular is extra special. My husband and I had 3 cats, 2 dogs and 2 birds, but Jet was the first. And I would pick him up and whisper in his ear "you are my favorite, you will always be my favorite".......but I love them all, it hurts when any of them move on.

Anyway, thank you for sharing your site, it's really a beautiful tribute. Take good care of yourself....
With care,
Mikki

I also signed your Petition. (I wasn't able to until I used Internet Explorer on that website).

I also commented that even though what happened was horrible in itself (the loss of a pet), but for those reading it all in the Courts who are not animal people...I pointed out that what if
next time "it is your child".

Hopefully, picturing the exact same cir%%stances in one's private yard and visualizing a child in the same cir%%stances as Foggy...may help bring in those who...as I say..are not animal people.

Good luck and I hope strict laws come of this..and jail time for those involved.

This is a situation that makes my blood boil. There are 2 things that would make me lose control. The first is cruelty to animals and the other is cruelty to children. (They both are the same in a certain point of view).
The worst part of this is that it may have been done by a child. This is often the result of one child controlling others. The controlling child is a sociopath and is capable of becoming a psychopath. I saw your beautiful dog and think that anyone that could do that without feeling is someone to be feared. It's just a hop skip and a jump towards torturing and killing a human being.
Personally, I'd find the latter easier.......the innocence is not there.....

I hope that the police can bring your case to fruition. I think Foggy would want that, not for revenge, but that that kid can be saved before becoming an adult and get appropriate counselling.

Of course the nature of his senseless death must make your grief that much worse. My prayers are with you.
Know you that he loved you very much and will see you again some day.
