Dear Friends, I used to make sympathy cards for local veterinarians, and I wrote this poem to go with the card. I no longer do this because the commercial greeting card industry is now providing professional sympathy cards. But the poem is mine to do with as I please, and I hope in posting it here that it will bring comfort to whomever reads it.

BELOVED COMPANION

It seems like only yesterday
I was blessed beyond compare
As Heaven smiled sweetly
Entrusting you into my care.

As I gazed into your eyes
And held you closely in my arms
I knew my life was changed forever
By your sweet and loving charms.

Precious memories filled the years
Through the seasons one by one,
Through the laughter and the tears,
Through the dark nights and warm sun.

I still remember all your mischief
That always brightened up the days,
And how the world seemed more inviting
By your warm and cheerful ways.

I smile as I recall
How you knew my every need.
You were always by my side
Keeping faithful company.

I still feel your tender kisses
As you’d greet me at day’s end.
I still feel your sweet caresses saying
“I’m so glad you are my friend.”

It is lonely for me now
To carry on without you here.
But you’re close within my heart - -
A cherished treasure always dear.

As I look up toward God’s Heaven
I feel you smiling down on me,
And I know we’ll be together again - -
Someday - - For all Eternity.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Peace and blessings,

In heaven's perfect garden there is no grief or pain, and all of God's creation join the angels' sweet refrain.

The most blessed way I have of knowing God's comforting love and grace is to look into the eyes and heart of God's creatures' sweet angelic face.
