I am glad he is the one who hired me. One of his brothers had long white socks and gloves nearly all the way up his legs, but this one "Hired" (Drafted, more like it) the Kitty Lady's boyfriend. He never had a cat before, and was flattered, so that little kitty will be saying home. He was named "Buck".

The parents or local family are all sweet. The son from the first litter lives next door, and comes over and visits his mother. They sit on the step together and rub noses.

I have been discussing Playtime with Iggy. I was shopping for kitten food yesterday. An old guy was studying the foods, looked at my clawed-up bleeding arms, and said, "New Kitten, huh?" We both laughed. He is here on the desk walking on the other keyboard at the moment, but that machine is off so he can practice typing.
Uh oh. Here he comes.

I wonder if the ones who have bad starts are extra grateful when they land in a loving home?

that is what the lady in the tv show, from the shelter was telling over and over.
no, i don`t believe that,
this lady from the tv was even worse,
sorry, i think she operated very manipulate, that`s not right.
she kept saying,
if you offer this poor animal a good home, this will bring you luck,
and
those people, who abandoned this pet, will never be happy again.

you are a very wise guy,
you must know, that the real life does not have those simple solutions.
Jim must have been in a very lovable shelter, and the first 3 weeks, at my home, he spent in an extra room, trembling behind the couch.
and then, he took over !!!!!!!!!!
sorry, about beeing so emotional,

sorry, about beeing so emotional,

It's our most emotional topic! Don't be.
Yes, people go overboard tryiing to get older cats adopted because "Eveyrone Wants Kittens". and I have even heard people say "It is too bad they grow up to be cats.".
I myself will be grateful when this wub.gif little monster wub.gif grows up a little! He NEVER stops! He has taken over the house and has been stealing the other cats' food.

But the reason I did not visit a cat shelter is that I know I would have left with as many as they would give me. It is heartbreaking to me that so many beautiful animals are just sitting there, waiting and waiting for a home. Just imagine that there might have been another Miles there, waiting! I could not live with myself if I walked away. SO I know I would have been vulnerable to being manipulated like that.

But I agree with you that promising curses to people who do not adopt the "right cat" is manipulative and wrong.

This one time I wanted a kitten so the other old cats would accept him. It is working!
But over the decades I have paid my dues saving old rescues. I have loved every minute of it. Looking back on all the special foods and vet bills, Miles cost me more per pound than if she were made of Sterling Silver* but the friendship she gave me was worth gold.

Even the most loving shelter must have a hard time giving attention to all of them? And just think of the Kill Shelters! "Adopt this cat or we will kill her!" That is even worse than manipulation. It is almost terrorism.

I never thought about it at all till right now. You cannot put a price on Love.
And she was my Cat-Wife, and believe me the human wife is a LOT more expensive.... biggrin.gif

Such precious photos. The one looking into the camera makes me want to scoop him up and plant a kiss on that tiny pink nose.

What an absolute doll. Thanks Jon for keeping them coming. I come here to smile and laugh.

The nose gets pinker when he is excited-Which is often.

The little pink nose is also VERY STRANGE when one is awakened by snuffling sounds at 4:00 AM because it has been shoved into the Writer's EAR-Which brings to mind that pigs have pink noses as well, and it sounded like a 500 pound boar.

It is really too pretty to be on a Boy Cat. I actually may try those Soft Claws they sell. Imagine him in pink ones.

That's it. My wife is finally worried that I have gone overboard with him.

She caught me carrying him around the house singing,

"Carry the laddie who's born to be King,
Over the sea to Skye..."

"That's really over the top, you know.."

I am just so grateful for how happy he has made me, after being in the emotional cellar from losing Milesy.

It's the pink nose.

Your happiness is bubbling over and is infectious. Yes, that pink nose is really something.

With my 3 cats even as kittens...they did keep their claws in...so they only got trimmed when at the vet, else they used their scratching posts a lot and I think that really helped.

With Lucky, I find the best thing is....since he has no interest in scratching posts at all....is I take him for a ride every 4 weeks and get his claws trimmed. When first done....it is wonderful...he can walk on bare skin and we feel nothing. I think he was probably abandoned outside for most of his life before his current age of 2 years so he does not know inside things like scratching posts, etc.
But he jumps in his carrier box and sits down anytime that box is opened so we take a quick ride around the corner and while it does cost almost $13.00 each time...it has been worth it. I just hope someday he will learn to use the scratching posts.

I also see that online Petsmart has a nail clipper with a guard that is supposed to prevent clipping too close to a vein. The groomer at my vet says Lucky is so good, he has offered to let me come in the back and watch and teach me how to do it. I'm still too nervous to try but I will see. I thought about the Soft Claws too but they are not cheap either and they only last a short time and have to be redone so if I have to pay either way, I think I will go for the nail trim. One of the moms here did try Soft Claws..it so happens her new cat just pulled them off so she is back to trimming herself which involves being scratched.

I guess each cat is different so all we can do is try things. I did notice by having the 3 kittens..it seemed like one would do something...like start using a scratching post and the other 2 would watch...then the next thing I would see the other do follow the example. Right now for me Lucky is by himself and for some reason, he gives me the strangest look when I get on the scratching post to show him what to do. happy.gif I guess it is not the same as another kitten but then cat books say the human should show the cat what to do...yeah, right...we know that book was NOT written by a cat! biggrin.gif

Good luck with Iggy, Jon. He is an absolute doll. I love coming here and hearing all about him.

I just clipped most of Iggy's front ones last night, till he got bored and wandered away. We have several of the clippers with a depth stop, and I modified one just for his little teeny claws. I had to do it because he thinks I am a ladder, and when he wants a shoulder ride, he simply walks up. And we are coming into shorts season. Now he can takle my hands all he wants, but has a little more trouble climbing up my legs. Good. Maybe he will lose interest in that sport.
Because of all the little dogs and cats w have always had we have quite a supply cabinet here. Back when my wife worked at that horrible pet store chain, we used to vaccinate them here.
We draw the line at Murphy's mats, though. She goes to the groomer, because for me to do it I need leather gloves and a HazMat suit.
Funny-Miles used to actually move her chin up, etc. to help me get tangles out. She knew exactly what I was doing and that it helped her.
But she was a genius.... wub.gif

Ooops here comes Iggy. biggrin.gif

Tell me about being a ladder.....Lucky weighs 10 pounds and believes he can walk anywhere at anytime. And yes, when I am getting his food ready, he stands up on his back legs and puts his paws on my leg and if not trimmed....the nails do not feel good. Just like you said...the shorts season...leaves a lot of skin available.

About Murphy...I read a long time ago in Cat Fancy tips from owners that rubbing cornstarch into mats helps to unmat them. Our cats did get some mats. When they are good, I have cut them off. We also bought a brush that is for mats and that loosens some also.
ANd I also noticed that the black mat turns gray or white and falls off when the hair in the mat dies. But I agree there are times and situations groomers can handle better than I can.

I laugh to hear Iggy ends your posts for you.....the little dickins!

2.9 pounds this morning huh? What does he weigh after he eats? LOL.............By the time he reaches his mature weight he may just weigh as much as a penguin.

I have enjoyed the pics and videos you have brought Jon. Now that I am a little more settled I can do some catching up on what has been going on in the forum. As Judy said, everything you bring results in so much laughter and many smiles. Sure is great medicine for me.

I still think some pink soft claws would go great with that sweet little pink nose of his. tongue.gif

I can IMAGINE!!!! I would probably have been in a straighijacket filled with Compazine suppositories if I had had a night like you did.

It was the snakes. I do not hate snakes..after all I had a boa as a friend long ago.
But in the dark, in the wet, in the mud, with snakes to whom I had not even been INTRODUCED!?
No thanks. I'm weird but not kinky.

So to keep it light, my lawyer friends do not like mechanical things. They bought this Kittie Cabana for their cats, took one look at the instructions, and gave it to us.

Well Jon...................It was a night to remember without doubt. ohmy.gif

Your playhouse is outstanding!!! It's a good thing Browser isn't anywhere near it because he would have those blue tassles ripped to shreds in no time. laugh.gif You aren't spoiling Iggy are you? It looks like they are already having fun in it with plenty to occupy them. Now if you get those moths Bue's Mommy talked about let them go in there it should create quite a scene.

Enjoy! biggrin.gif

I recall boyhood swimming hole experiences. Loathesome things. Strangely enough, their use in Medicine is returning. They work marvels in some cases of reattached digits and limbs in preventing necrosis because of anticoagulant properties.
Still, they are so repulsive that one sometimes wonders, "Did Noah REALLY have to bring two of THEM?"

That playhouse is AWESOME!!!!!

One of those attachments is like the play cube I got Lucky...he loves it...of course he "air-conditioned" it with his teeth so there are small tears in the silky sides. But he runs and jumps inside and sometimes rolls it around the house with him inside and I did get some pictures but the roll isn't done yet.

Iggy can invite all kinds of friends into his mansion. He looks so tiny and cute upstairs there. Is he having lots of fun with it?

I did love those pictures of him on your shoulder, Jon. The second one looks like he is investigating your ear. Sometimes he sounds like a tiny Lucky...always has to be in the middle of everything that is going on, and in particular if you are doing something that doesn't involve him (like being on the computer)...well he has to check that out also!

I just love him, Jon. So glad you "passed the interview".
