Jasper prefers Charmin to paper towels. Don't give him any new ideas! Is that "select a size"?
Have you ever seen the book "CAT HIGH"? It's a high school annual done with all cats. Iggy is surely the class president! -------------------- Nickels a.k.a Pickels

Thanks for that picture of Iggy with the paper towels. I really can't understand some of Lucky's actions...one of which is to get on the kitchen counter and bite a big hole in the middle of the paper towel roll in a holder. As you pull down the towels you see this big hole in the middle. Now I see Iggy is a paper nut too..so maybe Lucky isn't as weird as I think. He also goes after newspapers..how is Iggy on that?
Does Iggy understand NO? (I remember my kittens needed a little training as kittens) but I see Lucky as a now 3 year old thinks NO means stop for 5 seconds, walk away as if listening to the command, turn around and go back until person stands up or squirt bottle is shaken or gotten. Repeat this for 10 or 15 minutes..sometimes leads to locking in own bedroom cause when let out after a timeout..forgets what he was doing and that stops it that day. -------------------- LITTLE GUY - May 28, 1991 - Sept 10, 2007 - Always in my Heart.

Thanks, Jon...that picture made me laugh. Lucky looks just like that when looking at the bottle.
He doesn't mind very much being squirted. Sometimes he just stays where he is and gets wet. He is not afraid of anything..although he does not like the Dustbuster noise. When he wants to do something..he gets in a "zone" and it becomes a battle. He wants to jump to the top of our TV cabinet where a new flat screen is posed and I am scared he will accidently bump it and it will fall and break. I may have to get some of those sticky strips that his paws will not like stepping on. The picture is perfect. Sometimes he also likes to run from the living room all the way to the other room and then leap onto my office desk..just before the keyboard. He cares not what is on there. He just feels he fits everywhere. Hope Iggy is easier to train (I know we tend to spoil them but still......). -------------------- LITTLE GUY - May 28, 1991 - Sept 10, 2007 - Always in my Heart.

I may have to get some of those sticky strips that his paws will not like stepping on. We gave up and bought a monster wall bracket to support the 80# flat screen. The imagined sound of it falling face first made the installation a peace of mind thing. He DOES watch it. He likes game shows, strangely enough, and does not seem to care about the Nature Channel. I am taking a risk because Ignatius The Great has his own account now, and I hate to say it, but Miles was a lot smarter about walking on the keyboard. She quickly learned to NEVER do it, and despite hanging out on the desk often, would go to great effort to never touch a key. It is possible that Iggy just does it to get attention. Jon,
Don't you dare stop posting Iggy's Funnies! They are precious and without them, I'd be robbed of a good laugh. I've just learned not to take a drink of anything when I open one of your new posts LOL! Spraying orange juice through your nose is quite painful! On your last Emporer Ignatius post, I showed it to my Hubby when he walked in the door. He dropped his head, chuckling and shaking his head back and forth. It's so good to know we're not the only crazy cat people on this planet. You make us feel "normal" or at least as close to what normal is nowadays. My new flat computer screen is getting small Jasper scratches on it. I have a dancing frog for my cursor and it is Jasper's job to keep him in line! Frankee is careful not to step on the keyboard but Jasper is always looking for a new website. He also likes stepping on a key as it repeats on and on, on the screen. You'd have to have a kitty to understand the thrill it gives him. We just love your posts and always look forward to the latest Iggy update and cartoon. I think he's the king of new beginnings. Iggy Rules!! Michelle -------------------- Nickels a.k.a Pickels

I have decided to graciously use my Royal Position to help my followers understand the feline mind.
I hope this improves interspecies relations, and contributes to the joy of Serving Your Cat. We felines, and our pack-hunting friends the Dogs tend to forget that, according to evolutionists, you ARE, after all, just monkeys. But Creationists would probably agree that we are (Unlike YOU) without Original Sin. In either case, it is almost my duty to illuminate you. LESSON 1: Understanding the Feline Culture, and avoiding offense to Your Rulers: YOU SAY: ![]() But WE see: ![]() I hope this illuminates you, and makes you feel even more honored to have a Feline Friend! O, Exalted Feline Monarch,
Given such related things as your great artistic bents, I thought it incu*mbent to inquire as to whether your primate lackey had yet procured for your literary pleasure one particular volume of exemplary furry poetry by the famous humorist, Henry Beard, namely, "Poetry For Cats"? (were you also a Canuck Cat, or at least a N'Orleans one, I'd also suggest "French For Cats" by the same writer) If he has been remiss in this department, I include for his edification and immediate rectification of this oversight, the following scratching [sign]posts to this ever-so-cleverly-&-scholarly work: "Poetry For Cats" and, In-depth review of "Poetry For Cats" I trust you will use your pink paw pads judiciously, not only for prodding said servant into swift motion on this front, but once the coveted prize arrives, for choosing the most appropriate verse for your most royal amusement. The Egyptian Goddess, Nissa The Grey, was most fond of "Helen's Cat, from MEPHISTOPHELES, or THE TRAGICAL HISTORY OF DOCTOR FAUSTUS'S CAT" by Christopher Marlowe's cat, and "She Walks in Booties" by George Gordon, Lord Byron's cat, whereas her counterpart and blood relation, the Egyptian God, Sabin of the Grrrrrrreat Whiskahs, preferred "Treed" by Joyce Kilmer's cat, "Thunderstorm" by Carl Sandburg's cat and "The Hairball and the Mouse" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's cat. " Four quasi-opposable thumbs UP THE POST!......... YOOOWWWWW!!!"

John,
Iggy is priceless. I think you should have an IQ test done on him. If you guys had a criminal mindset, well, Iggy could lead you to a lot of money! I think he's looking for willing accomplices! Nothing wrong with his kitty self esteem! AND he's not even a year old. I try to keep Jasper and Frankee away from Iggy's thread. They have their own ideas about ruling (thier) world! -------------------- Nickels a.k.a Pickels

John, Iggy is priceless. It is funny you would mention that. I was thinking about the matter of smart cats last night. I do not want to take away the light-hearted nature of this thread, because we all need to smile once in a while, especially here. This is the first time in my life I quickly "Replaced" a lost friend. We all know that they are all unique individuals, and cannot really be "replaced", and how we feel when people say, "Oh just get another dog or cat". It is not really fair for me to compare Iggy to Miles, but I cannot help it, because Miles was a once in a lifetime friendship, and like it or not, she is the standard all cats in my life will be measured against. The simple truth at present is that Iggy is like my Irish grandfather was- A backslapping, laughing, jovial fellow who knew so many jokes he was even invited to wakes for strangers. He is a joyful clown, a rogue, and a rascal, a swaggering dandy, and so full of love, everyone who meets him wants to steal him. But Miles was a Maggie Thatcher, a Marie Curie. She would slap you if you annoyed her, and astonish people by how she could scheme and formulate abstract thoughts and plan for future actions. Granted, these usually involved stealing food, like the Elvira Pantry Raid. But still, when grooming her and removing mats and tangles, she knew exactly what I was doing and would turn her head and shift her body to "Help", even though it pulled and hurt. Miles had to survive outside, keep her baby alive, and elude coyotes. Iggy has been coddled and spoiled since he was born, and has never had a bad day. But I must remember at present he is a juvenile (delinquent at times) and be patient. He is a smart cat who learns quickly, and has his cute little tricks and endearing ways, and of course I consider him beautiful, with his perfect symmetry of markings. Iggy and I do have an intense friendship, and we cannot bear to be apart. When he sees me after I go to the store, he runs to the door and does a little happy dance. I am going to edit out some of the "Online Feud" portions of the thread. I thought the "Teenager Cat vs. Daddy' would emulate some of the many situational comedy themes about "Growing up". But in reality, I have come to think they are dishonest. In truth, Iggy has never growled or hissed, and he and the relationship are just too sweet to be mocked. Yes, he is VERY MUCH a Boy Cat, and an inquisitive mistake-prone little clown. But we have never really had a fight. Even when cranky old Murphy hisses at him, all he does is to jump over her like a porpoise (She HATES that!), shrugs, and walks away. The only problem we have with him is his obsession with water. Playing in the sink and leaving footprints on the counters is one thing, but RUNNING when the toilet flushes so he can observe the whirpool is something we need to work on with him. Maybe give him his own...? -------------------- Miles, my friend and Cat-Wife. 3-11-2008

Now that Iggy is big and sure enough to climb and jump, he has been seen in more and more strange places. Lately, he has found it amusing to sit on top of my computer hutch and STARE at me like a gargoyle. It is distracting. I hope I get used to it, or he gets tired of it...
