Everyone,

New year and a birthday gift for my husband. In December, as a family we decided for my hubby's bday in January, it would be time to rescue anew. After much debate, we decided against another lab-my husband and I couldn't agree on the color! wink.gif He'd been talking about German Short Haired Pointers and that they have a lab face but a speckled body. We went on their rescue site and thought they were so cute. We knew we wanted a boy, no more than about 2-enter Otis. Otis was a hunter's dog, who dumped him off at a shelter on new years eve. The rescue league found him and suggested we foster him to try him out. Well, it didn't take a couple of hours to know that this sweet, lovable, energetic doll-baby would be ours. We are in the process of adopting him. He's so lovable and submissive and he loves running with my hubby every morning. He loves to be rubbed on his belly and always falls asleep on his back with arms and legs in the air. He's just got the cutest personality and is such a lover. We love him and love that we rescued him from what could have been a dreadful fate.

There will always only be one "Eddie" forever in our hearts. Otis-- he is what me and my family needed this day, right now. We have so much love to give him and he has so much love to give us.

Enjoy this photo of our little boy and let me know if you'd like to see others.
Best~
Eddies Mom

PS: He ran back to Eddie's grave, threw his paws in front of his stone, touched the butterfly marker with his nose twice, ran around the stone and then off into the yard. It was so cool. Like a tribute, "I know you're here. I'm gonna take care of them now, don't worry."

You are so lucky to be able to open your heart and home to a new family member. Keep us posted on how that goes for you and your family.

I love to look at pictures so please do post more.

By the way, OTIS is an awesome name. Do you have a Garfield to pester him?

Your new boy is absolutely gorgeous! What a touching story that he paid his respects to Eddie. I am so touched by that because it really amazes that animals just "know" things about the universe that we humans are still trying to figure out.

Congratulations on the new arrival and I wish you all the best with him.

Your story brought tears to my eyes. How could anyone drop this sweet pooch off at the shelter and on New Years Eve! Otis is so lucky to have you and I'm sure his visit to Eddies grave certified that wub.gif . I would love to see more pictures of him! I love the way his head is all dark. He's just precious and lucky to have you guys for his new Mom and Dad. I pray you have many happy years together. Please keep us updated.

Everyone,

Thank you so much for your blessings and support. There is not a day that does by that we don't think of our Eddie. Whenever my husband and i are in the yard gardening, our eyes well up when we clean the leaves off his grave. Otis has been a great distraction and we love our sweet boy very much.

Eva and ForDuffy, I think of you both often and apologize for not being around a lot but I hope you are both managing well.

I am attaching another picture of Otis. He loves his backyard.

Take care.
Eddies Mom

PS: I'll be posting a new beginnings post-again. My husband and I are such softies.

I am thinking of you too, Eddie's mom and I am loving your little Otis. He is so adorable. I think I'm going to have to go along with the crowd this once and ask for more pics.

Dear Eddies Mom,

What can I say that hasn't been said already! Otis has found a wonderful forever home with you guys. I know he senses Eddie when he's out in the yard. You know that they would have been best buddies.

Is that his favorite toy? He is just precious!! Give him a kiss on the head from all of us!
