Hi everyone.
I just posted a story on the Memorials,Tributes, Eulogies section about Jordan. I'd love for you guys to read it and tell me what you think. As I said on the post, I just started a grad class and one of the assignements is to write a personal narrative about an important event and relate it to another life event. I had a list of four or five topics but I kept coming back to writing about my boy. I am so scared because I have to share it with my class of thirty-five next week. You all know what its like to share your story with people who just don't "get it" and I'm afraid that it'll be a room full of them. So, I just wanted to share it in a safe place first. Thanks for listening. I really appreciate it.
Love,
Jordan's mom

i say go for it. the story is well-written from the heart. there will inevitably be people who just dont "get it." that
is their problem. with that said, im sure you will gain respect from the majority sitting there. even if they do not
understand the pet/child relationship, they should hold some degree of compassion for your situation.

The majority of them will "get it". Anyone who has ever had a pet will "get it". You wrote about a little soul that you loved. Love and grief are universal. It is a lovely story.

I am sorry for your loss. It is not an easy decision to make to let our friends go. Jordan knew he was loved.

WOW.

Tears flowed as I read your story. I am so glad you will be sharing it with others. For those who don't already "feel" for animals, I believe your story may even influence them.

What a wonderful Mom you are.

And you are a very gifted writer---a true genius with words. The mark of a great writer is the ability to engage the reader to the point where s/he is in your shoes and is momentarily unaware of the boundaries between his/her world and yours. I think you've accomplished this task brilliantly!

Let us know how the reading goes!!!

Jordan is proud of you as a writer---and especially as a Mom. wub.gif

The fact that it is a "personal" narrative will mean that there will, inevitably, be people who won't "get it". But that's okay. It was a very well written piece. So keep your chin up and be proud. Jordan will be listening.
