Yesterday was a sad day.
My dad took Tigger to the vet to see how much his cancer had progressed because the tumour on his head (next to his ear) had fissured and was leaking fluids. The vet said the tumour had erupted and that it had progressed to his entire ear and behind his left eye (it was almost shut, he could barely open it anymore). The cancer had moved very fast despite my efforts to do alternative vitamin therapy (Jazmin, it did help, trust me!) and it was an agressive skin cancer that went inward and grew with a vengance. Tigger was put to sleep and my father called me at work late yesterday afternoon and told me. Thank God the workday was almost over, I was a complete mess. This is the second cat gone in four and a half months, same diagnosis. Tig was 16, Precious was 19. Now they're together and that gives me comfort.
Thanks to everyone here for all of their prayers. They helped give some time with Tigger that meant so much. He was such a sweetheart!

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I hope your co-workers were good to you when you found out the news. You can take comfort in the fact that Tig and Precious are now together again with no cancer and painfree, playing together, and talking about you. I am sure they will both visit you often.

Lisa,

I'm so sad to hear about the loss of Tigger. He was a special guy, and lucky to have such great caregivers as you and your Dad. I admire you guys for doing so much to help Tig. Now he is together with your Precious, and is not sick any more...
God bless you and give you comfort.

I am sorry for your loss. This is the most difficult part of coming to this site sometimes...reading that another furbaby has been snatched from a loving home. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Lisa, dear....please add my sympathies to all those here, for you and your dad. How awful that this happened, and at this time of year no less! sad.gif But you were trying your best to extend Tigger's life, and quality of life, and for that you are blessed, indeed. I hope you &/or your dad can also feel Tigger's continuing presence in your lives, much like you've felt Precious', and that that will bring you some much-needed comfort in the days ahead. You've been hit so hard, with 2 losses in such a terribly short time and I'm so sorry about that, too, and understand how much more difficult this can make grief. So make sure you come back to unload on us whenever you need to...we'll all still be here for you.

Lisa

I am so sorry to hear about Tigger, cancer is such a nasty thing and when it is to far gone we can do nothing but give our love. I am so sorry for your loss, tigger and precious are together now running in fields of catnip and chasing mice.

Again I am sorry for your loss, and send my love to you.

Hugs Jazmin

Everyone --
Thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful thoughts! Tigger lived a very long and happy life. I never dreamed skin cancer would be the thing that would take his life. He was the most easygoing, laid-back, loving cat anyone could meet. He never knew a stranger; he took to everyone who said something to him and pet him and gave him a smile and a kiss. He was an adoptee too, my parents took him in when he just suddenly showed up at their back door one day in spring 1990. He became a welcome part of the family soon after. He and Precious resembled mirror images except Precious had more fur! Their colouring was exactly the same, even down to the tail...except Tigger had more Siamese in him, very short, coarse hair and clear blue eyes where Precious had agate-blue ones. Tigger was there for me so much after Precious died. I had taught him to walk on Precious' leash after his surgery this past June and he liked it. He stuck really close to me until the day he died (can't believe it's only been two days).
Dad and I knew it was time because Tigger looked like he was in a lot of pain. He was still eating but not like he once did. The eruption of the tumour and the closed eye was telling me that it was almost time but I was in major denial. I did not want to see him go yet I knew he was in pain and slept too much, a big sign something was happening. I was even feeding him vitamins and baby food in-between cat food feedings. Still, it helped lengthen his life a little.
Dad brought him home from the vet yesterday and my nephew buried him near all of the "favourites": Punkin, Sam and Sami, right beside the fireplace, the one spot he loved so much. I'm going to look for a stone with birds on it because he loved them (not only to watch but to occasionally chase; I never saw him kill one!).
I'm also lighting a big candle for him at Mass tomorrow and will have him blessed by the same priest that blessed Precious. It's a little hard because his death came at Christmastime but he was a very special cat and I know he and Precious and all of the other cats are together again. I'm sure my Mum is happy too!
Your prayers meant so much because they helped Tig stay alive a little bit longer. God bless all of you for being there!!!

My coworkers were absolutely wonderful! They rushed over to my desk and comforted me. One had lost a dog to a road accident a few days earlier so we had a good cry together.
Today, they had a special luncheon and included Tigger and my dad and I in the prayer. THAT was so awesome, I was speechless!

I am glad you have so much support around you, you did everything you could for your kittys, you are a very good fur mama and they adore you for it.

It's now a whole new chapter in our lives our furbabies have left but they will never be gone and we must continue on our road with all this love weve been given.

take good care, hugs Jazmin

Thanks, Jazmin! I miss Tigger but know that he and Precious were reunited and are having a grand time. I know he's no longer in pain and has all of his ears back and is a happy boy!
They never, ever leave us. Bonds forged in life are strong and survive for eternity!
