Buddy, When I was told about your cancer I was devestated. I begged you not to leave me. I prayed for one more summer. I asked you to stay just one more summer, so that you could enjoy the deck we built for our cats (and us humans too) and the yard that looked so perfect for you when we bought this place all those years ago and so that you could relax in the iris as you always loved to. I wanted one more summer I guess, it was for me that I asked you to stay. One more season where we could sit out in the warm, sweet air together and just enjoy our time together.

Thank you Buddy, for staying just one more summer. I will always remember and I will always be grateful. You are my best friend even still and no matter how many others we resuce, no one will ever replace you in my heart. I love and miss you so much my sweet pal.
Please visit me in my dreams.

Christine

Christine,
That was lovely!! I know Buddy appreciates that and hope you can still feel his presence all around you. He's still looking after you, you know! Watch for signs, some subtle, some not so subtle. He's still with you!!

Christine and Buddy,
Somewhere and sometime you will sit together in an iris patch, I have no doubt. Then the time that has passed will seem like nothing, and you will both enjoy it all the more for that. Somewhere it is always spring and our pets are always young and healthy. I don't know how I know that, but I just know. God bless and take care - Barbara

Christine,

I, too, was holding my breath this last summer, for our Nissa to stay around as long as possible. It would have seemed so wrong if she'd gone too early in the season, as she and I were real summer-babies, and preferred our really warm weather after having toughed-out the long winters together. She loved the dry heat, as it helped both her arthritis and her CRF, since kidney cats are usually chilly. I'd had a communcation done with her in early spring, where she thought she might not see much of the summer at all ( I was thinking maybe she'd be gone in late April or May ).....so now I feel like she truly did her best to stick around to enjoy as much of her last summer here as possible. She'd also kept repeating the # "20", so I thought it might be the day she'd pass....it turned out to be the last day she was acting normally, inside and out in the yard with us, and after that, she declined rather quickly. Me and my H also thanked her for not leaving on either of our birthdays ( mine in the summer; his in early Sept. ) ~ she left in between them both, on Aug.23.

So I think it was a wondefully loving gift our beloveds gave each of us, to have one more summer's-worth of memories to hold closely to our hearts now. I'm still waiting to see our girl in my dreams, too.

This site is a real life line. Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond with your special thoughts and words. They mean so very much to me.

I'm struggling to try and not fall into a depression of not caring about anything anymore. It is so hard. Without this board, I don't know where I'd turn.
