My daughter said we could bury Oscar at her new house when the time comes. Today we went to pick the spot and next weekend we will dig. About 6 years ago she had to have her furbaby put to sleep do to heart issues. We got him, Odin while stationed in Germany and brought hime home with us. When she moved out she took him with her. She had him cremated. Today while making my plans and picking a spot she decided to bury Odins remains with Oscar. It was very heartwarming. When Oscar was a baby, Odin took care of him. They were very close, and enjoyed getting together for weekend visits. We will put both names on our cross and dog birdfeeder. I have no doubt Odin will be waiting to greet Oscar and show him all the favorite play areas. My son-in-law thinks I'm a little kooky. I don't hold it against him because I know he's trying to understand. His parents weren't "pet" people. He never really had any furbaby to be attach to or friends with. I think he's learning. Now that their son is a little older they have adopted two older cats, and give them a very good home. |

I'm glad that Odin and Oscar will be together again - it seems right. Regarding your son-in-law, I think sometimes my husband thinks I go a little overboard regarding the cats - or any animal really. He was raised on a farm in the Midwest, and if the cat wasn't in the barn catching mice, or if the dog wasn't able to hunt or track or herd, they weren't really worth much. Now that we have the cats, he's gone overboard a little himself over one of our Norwegian Forest Cats named Kimi, and he talks baby-talk to her, and she thinks he walks on water. She's never caught a mouse in life, either, and probably never will, but she has a servant for life in my husband.

Today I buried my Dixie Dog. The sweetest thing in the world. She was just in love with my boyfriend and I decided to bury her at his house. He went with me, my mom, and my sister to the vet to be there during her death. The experience changed his life. What I saw in his eyes, what he said after. Something he had been struggling with. He's certain that our furbabies have souls now and I am so happy for him. His life is going to be a lot better for having known sweet Dixie. My thoughts are with you at your time too. I can't believe I actually made it through this day.
