I am getting another dog, ironically it's my last poodles Littermate, Bernie, she is 14 years old. some people think this is crazy, adopting another old dog. I am letting myself in for more heartache, and I agree that yes, one day she too will pass and I will grieve and it will be hard, but nothing worth having or loving in life is ever easy. The young lady that owns this dog is working fulltime and going to school part time, and neither of her parents are willing to take the dog, so she contacted me to see how Misty was doing, she was sad to hear Misty had passed, but was wondering if I might consider taking care of Bernie. I said I would. In some ways I feel like I owe it to Misty, when Bernie passes their ashes will be together, always. Misty was such a ligth in my life. Bernie might be able to help Prince my young poodle with some of his fears of people, being a good example. He has learned quite a bit from some of my friends dogs.

Seems like a new start, but I know when I see her I will cry, she looks just like my little Misty. Lets pray for a couple of healthy years for her too.

What a great story. I 've heard this happen often where people adopt the brother or sister. Who cares if she's 14? Poodles are a tough lot and I'm sure she'll give you nothing but pleasure. If it will help you in the long run that is all that matters.

Take care,

Chris

It makes you wonder how these things work out - whether it's the will of God, or serendipity, or what. You're meant to have Bernie, I'm sure of it, and I believe that Misty is smiling down at you from above and approves. What a blessing!

Great idea!! I'm a sucker for older dogs too! They deserve happiness just like the puppies, right!

Attached is photo of Miss Bernie, she sure is cute... she is putting on weight after having her teeth cleaned. I heard Misty's collar jingling in the middle of the night again with both of the living dogs on my bed, so I know it was her. She seems happy to know Bernie is with me now, safe well fed and loved. Thanks for your support.

I sometimes think about how hard it is going to be when Bernie's time comes, but I know that she and Misty will be back together, I wish they could have been back together at my house in life. Sometimes we don't get our wishes I guess.

Miss Bernie is truly a beautiful dog. How lucky she and you are and how wonderful that Misty came back to show her approval and give her blessing.

It will be hard when Miss Bernie's time comes, but well worth the wonderful life you are giving her now.

Best wishes,
