I came into Suzies life by fortune almost 4 years ago. Her owner had died and she was going to the pound, I reluctently took her home. It was the best thing that I ever did, she fit in with my other 2 dogs and 3 cats like she had always been here. She was old like her previous owner. I have never loved an animial like I love her. She has had her health problems and has needed up 4 and 5 times a night to potty. Last night she was up my husband was supervising her like we always do, he had to use the bathroom and I did not get up, assuming she would be waiting at the door when he returned. She fell in the pool and was drowned by the time he returned, not even 5 minutes. We tried to get the water out of her lungs and attempted mouth to mouth. She was dead, I let her down, she loved me so much and she trusted me. I let her down... I dont know how to cope, I let her down.... looking for support... need to get thru the day...

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Please don't blame yourself.
Some days, everything just seems to go wrong. I lost my cat
due to a similar run of bad luck a few months ago. I remember
the sense of horror that developed as a series of everyday
occurrences went terribly wrong. Try to remember that you
couldn't have foreseen what happened. You did the best you
could for your dog. She was well loved. Nobody could ask
more than that.

Best,
Sarah

April I'm so sorry for your loss!
Just reading your post and how you catered to Suzie's needs shows your immense love for her. I'm sure she knew that and wouldn't want for you to blame yourself for the accident. You obviously did all you possibly could for Suzie. You gave her love and time she would never have had after her previous owner passed.

Hugs
Kaylee.

Peace to your heart, April. You provided what that baby needed the most.... someone that truly loved her. No guilt. You are NOT to blame. You made Suzie's life happy and she knows how much love you have for her and she for you.
