Rude Recepitionist? Options

Over the last couple of days i have been missing babybear so much i thought i was getting better but today when i woke up all i could think about was him even though i have ben to care about.

I have to take ben to see a cardologist on friday because he has something wrong with his heart, i had to pick up his chest xrays and ecgs yesterday to take with me. Now i insurance but i have to pay up front and then claim the money back now all along i have said that what ever he needs i will do but i need to know how much it is before had so i can get the money together.

I get a phone call on monday tell me how much it is and i told them not a problem i will get the money together she then say oh i was told you have trouble paying!!!!! i was so angry i told her no i dont have trouble paying just need to know how much money to bring with me.

Everything is booked and set to go for friday, today the recepitionist rings me at work to say that they have been told i have trouble paying and that if i dont have the money then not to bother coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then she tells me its going to be £200 more than they told me on monday when i told her that she said well if you want it done then just make sure you have the money!!!!!!! in the end i just put the phone down on her and burst in to tears, how dare she speak to me like that!!!! i will pay for it all i wanted to know is how much it is so i can pay!!!!! she has made me so mad and im really embarrassed that they think that i cant pay for his treatment.

I thought that people went in to that profession to care for animals not to ring the owners and tell them that if they cant pay then dont bother trying to make your pet better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so sorry this is happening to you.
She was in the wrong for saying what she did to you, inappropriate actions and rude. Perhaps you should talk to the office manager about her or better yet talk to the cardiologist about her actions. I probably would find another cardiologist as I wouldn't be comfortable there after her words. When I am quoted a fee and then they try to add more to it later I make them stick with the original quote. I wish you luck and all the best with Ben.

I would get a second oppinion if i was you, with an attitude like that God only knows who they are ripping off with extras that are not needed.

And where did the extra £200 come from, not the kind of amount that you overlook is it.

I certainley wouldnt leave my baby in there overnight.

i phoned and complained about the way she spoke to me then i made them give me a break down on what they are charging me for, i then phoned my vets and discussed it with them. and over my dead body is he staying there on his own im staying with him the whole time

I'm glad you phoned them and complained about the rude receptionist and made them give you a breakdown of what they are charging you for. But I would still go to a different cardiologist where they are more pleasent and not rude. I would be leery about going there because of the way you were treated and I know if that was me I'd find another cardiologist. It's good you're going to stay with Ben the whole time. Are you going to be present the whole time when they do whatever it is they're going to do? I wish you all the best through this.

i decided to take ben and see the cardologist this morning with the intention of if i didnt feel comftable then i would bring him straight home, and boy and i glad i took him. When i finally got in to see her, she was amazing she sat me down and we talked for about 30 mins about ben and she explained to me the ecgs and the chest xrays what she would be looking for in the ultrasound and just made me feel really at ease. Ben was really happy with her he was purring while she was stroking him, she i have just heard back and its good news we have caught the heart dieseas early enough to treat with medication and he isnt producing any blood clots so im going to get him now!!!

Glad to hear Ben is doing well!!! Just fyi.......no, I wouldn't have felt comfortable going back to that doctor either, however.....sometimes the help up front isn't indicative of the care he will receive. I used to work in a vets office for about 6 years, and the people we had coming in and out of there weren't always of the best quality. You have to think....usually they pay the office help minimum or just slightly above, so unfortunately sometimes you just get people who need the work, not necessarily animal lovers. Or, perhaps this was someone who just did the paperwork and doesn't (god willing) work with the animals much. It sounds like the cardiologist was great and thank goodness for the outcome.
