It Hurts So Much Options

Last week I had to put my 13-year-old border collie (Beau) to sleep. Like a lot of you on this forum, Beau was my best friend. He helped me through the loss of my family in 1994 and I am eternally grateful to him for his unconditional love throughout this difficult time in my life. I miss him so much, it hurts.

Beau sounds wonderful, and what a long and lovely friendship you had with him. But of course, no years are ever enough, and you must be in a LOT of pain right now. It does get a little easier with each passing day, and this website is a FABULOUS place to come and talk about how you're feeling and about Beau.
You must miss him terribly.

I'm *so* sorry you lost your beautiful Beau. Trust me when I say that the wonderful people on this board have been there and know exactly how much you're hurting. I lost my Jack 12 days ago and the pain is still so intense it physically hurts at times but it is getting a little better with each passing day. I'm at the point now where I can look at his picture and smile at the wonderful memory.

Please come here whenever you need a shoulder or just need to talk about Beau, I'd love to hear more about him, he was very lucky to have you in his life...it sounds like you two shared a very special bond that will last forever.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet Beau. I know your heart must be breaking.

When I lost my Little Girl, the things that helped the most were
--the support of the people on this site (I spent hours each day here)
--talking only with those who understood this type of heart-wrenching grief and avoiding anyone who might downplay its significance and severity
--making a list of the times I may have "almost" lost her (the near-misses) and then realizing and treasuring the bonus time that we had
--watching lots of movies
--knowing that Little Girl is in a realm of timeless, spaceless bliss, where there is no emotional or physical pain, and that when it is my time to pass on, she and I will be fully reunited

We're here for you as you go through this pain.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 13 years is a long time to have a companion...I know you must miss Beau very much.

Kathy made some good points about getting through these first days/weeks/months without Beau. I hope you'll come back and share more about Beau and your relationship with him.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful best friend Beau. How hard it is and I feel your pain. I haven't been to this site for a while as I didn't feel I was healing. I cried everytime I came here although I needed comfort from people who knew what I was going through. I took a break and am feeling a little better. I just thought I would come back for a bit and maybe help someone but then again, I don't know if I am helping anyone at all. I guess it just helps to know that I am not alone and if we can comfort each other in any way, then that is better than nothing.

Hi there-

I'm so sorry for the loss of Beau. I understsand how it feels, I lost my beautiful border collie Jackie on the 17th May this year to cancer... She was 10, and was also my best friend...

The first few weeks were hard... During this time, I spent a lot of time with friends, and tried to get some exercise and fresh air... it will seem like the last thing you want to do, but it does help...

Also, try to keep healthy, because the more tired and run down you feel, the worse *everything* seems to be...

I'd love to hear more about Beau... Maybe some photos?
